Ellis went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk in a 2-0 win over Colorado on Wednesday.

Ellis has been filling in for the oft-injured Yasmani Grandal and has now homered in two of his last three games. The backup catcher provides very little value, even for NL-only owners, and he'll remain on waiver wires like he should.

Ellis made his third start in four games Tuesday against the Giants and went 2-for-4 to raise his like to .238/.364/.381.

Ellis is hitting .375 in his last 24 at-bats, and with Yasmani Grandal in a 1-for-31 skid, Ellis could continue to play more than the average backup catcher this month.

At this point, one guess as to a playing time split would be 70/30 in favor of Grandal, but Grandal is hitting just .211 himself.

Ellis will take a seat for Wednesday's day game following five straight games behind the plate. Tim Federowicz will catch Carlos Frias in his place and will bat seventh for the Dodgers.
