Lamb gave up six runs, seven hits and three walks while striking out three."Today, I'm not too happy with the results, of course," Lamb said. "I'm bummed for the club. We jumped out early and I couldn't keep us in it."

LHP John Lamb labored through a 25-pitch first inning on Saturday against the Mariners. A 473-foot three-run home run by Franklin Gutierrez in the fourth inning was the big blow as he allowed four runs (three earned) in six innings. All four runs scored via homers. "It was frustrating giving up that ball you want to get back," Lamb said of the homers. "I wanted to keep us in the game. I didn't cut it."

LHP John Lamb took the brunt of the punishment in the Reds' 15-6 loss to the Indians Monday. Lamb pitched four innings and gave up seven runs on 10 hits and two walks. "He didn't have much success with his changeup and cutter, so their hitters got very comfortable," said Reds Manager Bryan Price.

LHP John Lamb (0-2, 1.80 ERA), Monday's starter at Cleveland, is making his first appearance since May 8, when he sprained his left thumb during an at-bat and had to leave a game against Milwaukee after just four innings. That was just his second start of the season, after December 2015 back surgery delayed his debut until May 3. He has given up two runs in 10 innings this year.

LHP John Lamb left his start on Sunday in the fifth inning with a sprained left thumb. He played catch on Wednesday and appears on track to make his next start on Monday in Cleveland. The postponement on Tuesday also afforded him an extra day to get ready. "The rainout gives us a chance to move him down and make sure he's ready to go in Cleveland," said manager Bryan Price.

Tue May 10 201603:37LHP John Lamb told injury does not involve ligament
LHP John Lamb, who left Sunday's start in the fifth inning with a strained left thumb, was told his injury does not involve a ligament. "It's muscular, that was good news," he said. "It's definitely a little better. It's calmed down. But it's sore." Cincinnati manager Bryan Price said he won't throw until Wednesday. With an off-day on Thursday, the Reds don't need to make a decision just yet on Lamb's status for his next start. "If I was feeling yesterday like I feel today," Lamb said. "I probably could've pitched. I hope it doesn't knock me off track for the future."
Mon May 9 201603:52LHP John Lamb left start on Sunday with sprained left thumb
LHP John Lamb left his start on Sunday with a sprained left thumb. Lamb had allowed a run and only two hits through four innings when he was visited by trainers after throwing a 1-2 pitch to Brewers third baseman Hernan Perez leading off the fifth inning. Lamb threw one warmup pitch before exiting the game and was replaced by right-hander Steve Delebar. The injury is not related to the offseason back surgery which resulted in Lamb beginning the season on the disabled list. He was making his second start since being activated. Cincinnati currently has five projected starters on the DL, stalling the club's rebuilding process and having a residual impact on its struggling bullpen. Lamb is expected to have an MRI on Monday.
Wed May 4 201617:22Reds trying to fix bullpen problems
CINCINNATI -- Cincinnati Reds manager Bryan Price is doing quite a bit of ego massaging for his relief pitchers these days."I think positive feeds positive, negative feeds negative," Price says. "We talk about confidence, what comes first, performance or confidence?" Hard to say. Right now, the Reds' bullpen doesn't have either. On Tuesday night, it allowed a run in the 21st consecutive game in which the bullpen appeared, a modern-day major league record. The bullpen allowed a run for a 22nd straight game on Wednesday, and the relievers' collective ERA now stands at 6.50 with 22 home runs allowed in 99 2/3 inningsThe residual impact of several injured starters has resulted in a few potential bullpen candidates being asked to fill spots in the rotation, leaving the bullpen composed of a few guys who weren't expected to be in the majors at this point in the season. What's worse, injuries have prevented the Reds from getting a look at right-handers Homer Bailey and Anthony DeSclafani, who are... LHP John Lamb was recalled from his minor-league rehabilitation stint to start Tuesday night against the Giants in place of RHP Jon Moscot, who was scratched with shoulder soreness. Lamb, coming off back surgery in December, made three rehabilitation starts for Triple-A Louisville going 1-2 with a 9.22 ERA. "I don't think he underappreciated the opportunity to continue his rehab," manager Bryan Price said prior to Tuesday's game. "He just didn't perform very well. Desperate times call for desperate measure. We wanted to see him pitch better and he did. We expect a good start." He did just that, allowing one run and six this over six innings and 103 pitches. "I had mixed emotions," said Lamb of his outing. "I'd like to go out there and be textbook and get ahead. At the end of the day, I was able to use my secondary pitches to get guys out and get the game in my favor. I had no issues with my back."

Lamb is expected to rejoin the Reds' rotation following the rehab assignment. He made his major league debut for the Reds last season, when he went 1-5 with a 5.80 ERA in 10 starts.

Lamb (1-4) lasted only two innings on Saturday, surrendering three hits, five earned runs and two walks in a 10-2 loss to the Mets. He struck out four.
Lamb, as is often typical for a rookie, followed up the best start of his career with his worst to date. Things unraveled early, with a first-inning grand slam by Lucas Duda opening the floodgates. Lamb then surrendered a solo dinger to Curtis Granderson in the second, marking his first multi-homer start. Despite the disastrous appearance on Saturday, Lamb has been a serviceable and potential-laden late-season addition to the Reds staff. His 9.96 K/9 rate and the two scoreless starts he already has to his credit serve as indicators that he could possibly blossom into a mainstay on the 2016 rotation.

Lamb had his best major league start in a no decision Monday against the Cardinals, as he threw six shutout innings and allowed just five hits and a walk. He struck out six.
Lamb now has two quality starts in his eight major league outings and has his ERA down to 4.60. He needed just 84 pitches to make it through the six innings and he induced 11 swinging strikes, a masterful performance. Lamb has allowed just three earned runs in his last three starts and has a 15:7 K:BB in that span.

Lamb took a no decision Tuesday against San Francisco as he allowed three runs on six hits over four innings. He struck out three and didn't walk a batter.
The start marked Lamb's shortest of the season, and he has made just one quality start in his seven outings for the Reds. His ERA is up to 5.35 and he has now given up 45 hits in 37 innings. His 42:13 K:BB is excellent, but it won't matter if he can't keep the hits from falling in.
