Shaffer, 24, is 6-for-17 (.353) with three home runs and five RBI in six games since being promoted to Triple-A Durham.

Shaffer finally appears to be living up to his potential, as he is on pace to shatter his previous season-high of 19 home runs. His average on the year is also sitting at a much more respectable .271, after posting a dismal .222 average last season. Shaffer is blocked by Evan Longoria at the big-league level, so the Rays may attempt a position switch or dangle Shaffer as trade bait.
