Griffin was waived by the Pistons on Wednesday. |
After Griffin failed to get off the bench in Tuesday's preseason opener, the Pistons determined it wasn't worthwhile to keep him around in training camp any longer. It appears that the main candidates for the 15th and final spot on the Pistons' opening night roster are Reggie Bullock, Adonis Thomas, and Cartier Martin. |

Griffin agreed to a training camp deal with the Pistons, RealGM reports. |
Griffin is a 6-8, 205-pound wing player who went undrafted in the 2012 NBA Draft. He played in the D-League last season, spending 49 games with the Texas Legends averaging 22.0 points, 2.0 three-pointers, 6.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.3 steals, and 2.4 blocks in 35 minutes per game while shooting 46 percent from the field, 37 percent from three, and 77 percent from the line. Those stats are great, but they're from the D-League, so they should be taken with a grain of salt. The Pistons have 17 players on guaranteed contracts right now, and Griffin isn't one of those players. In order to make the team, he'd have to beat out two guys with guaranteed money and Adonis Thomas, who played for both the Pistons' D-League team last season and with their summer league squad. |

Mavericks sign F Eric Griffin. |
He's looked great at summer league with a couple highlight reel dunks. Griffin averaged 9.3 points, 2.8 boards and 2.0 blocks in 19.3 minutes per game. He'll need a small miracle to make the rotation. |
