Sun Nov 15 201503:23F Kris Humphries recognized reality this summer
F Kris Humphries recognized the reality this summer. His shooting range needed expanding for the modern NBA style. Clearly, practice paid off.He scored 23 points and sank three of his career-high five 3-pointers in the fourth quarter as the Washington Wizards snapped a three-game losing streak with a 108-99 win over the Orlando Magic on Saturday night.Though a key performer for much of last season, Humphries was a non-factor during the playoffs as Washington deployed more perimeter shooters. That led the 30-year to learn new tricks."It's been different this year being on the perimeter this much," Humphries said. "I don't think I've completely made the transition yet. I need to get my rebound numbers up ... but other things are coming together."
Mon Oct 12 201513:12Though Wizards coach Randy Wittman hasn't confirmed as much
Though Wizards coach Randy Wittman hasn't confirmed as much, Humphries looks poised to displace Nene Hilario as the team's starting power forward this season, Jorge Castillo of the Washington Post reports.
Humphries isn't on par with Hilario as a scorer or rebounder in the low post, but Humphries' willingness to expand his range out to three-point line during the preseason appears to align better with Wittman's desire to employ a "pace-and-space" lineup that would keep four players with capable three-point strokes on the court. It's possible Wittman ends up switching things up if the lineup fails to gain much traction in the early going, but with Humphries' minutes and three-point attempts likely to rise with the change in offensive philosophy, he'll make for an interesting late-round target in deeper leagues.

Humphries poured in 11 points (5-11 FG, 1-6 3Pt), an assist, five rebounds, and a steal over 26 minutes in Friday's 115-104 loss to the Knicks.
Humphries is being given an opportunity to potentially wrest the starting role from incumbent Nene Hilario, and has acquitted himself reasonably well over the first pair of exhibitions. While he didn't fare as well Friday as he did in the opener with respect to one of his areas of focus in the offseason--his three-point shooting--Humphries certainly appears much more aggressive from beyond the arc over the first two games. The veteran power forward has already attempted 10 shots from long range in preseason, and it will be interesting to track his progress in this area over the balance of the exhibition slate. If Humphries is able to augment his offensive production through better overall shooting and still offering a solid defensive presence, he appears to have a legitimate opportunity to earn starter's minutes.
Wed Oct 7 201513:01Humphries inserted into starting lineup at power forward in Tues...
Humphries was inserted into the starting lineup at power forward in Tuesday's exhibition opener against the Sixers. He scored six points (2-6 FG, 2-4 3Pt) and added six boards in 20 minutes.
The Wizards have primarily utilized Nene Hilario as their starting power forward during his three and a half seasons in Washington, but coach Randy Wittman had floated out the possibility during the offseason of employing smaller, speed-oriented lineups during the coming season. In accordance with that goal, Humphries has worked all summer to add a three-point shooting element to his game, which he put on display Tuesday night. Though Humphries has always boasted a solid shot from mid-range, he's never really expanded to the three-point line, as he enters this season with just 26 attempts from deep in his 11-year career. His achievements Tuesday offer encouragement that he'll be able to discover another dimension of his game, and the Wizards figure to allow Humphries to experiment from deep throughout the preseason. If Humphries continues to find success from downtown, Wittman could end up keeping him in the fold as the starter ahead of Hilario once the regular season begins.
Tue Aug 18 201509:33Humphries recorded working on corner three-point shot
Humphries was recorded working on his corner three-point shot, CSN reports.
The ten-second video showed Humphries banging in a couple of corner three-pointers. The release comes across as slow, but speed won't matter as much as consistency. Humphries said earlier this offseason that he intends to work on his range in order to garner more playing time, a problem that arose in the playoffs. By moving out to the perimeter, he'll lose offensive rebounding opportunities and sustain a slight hit in his field goal percentage. With Jared Dudley (back) sidelined for the early portion of the season, expect Humphries to split bench minutes with Drew Gooden.
Mon May 18 201517:13Humphries working on three-point shot lot in practice in effort ...
Humphries has been working on his three-point shot a lot in practice in an effort to extend his range and earn more minutes next season, CSN reports.
Humphries was an afterthought of the Wizards' postseason rotation. Of their 10 playoff games, Humphries only appeared in one game and played just five minutes. Through 11 years in the NBA, Humphries has shot just 26 three-pointers and converted only two of them. If he were able to successfully add the three-point shot to his repertoire, Humphries would likely see a decrease in his rebounds, but if he's efficient enough, he could extend his career.

Humphries (groin) returned to action after sitting out for over a month and posted six points, one rebound, one assist, one steal, and one block in 15 minutes of action Wednesday against the Sixers.
Humphries is averaging 8.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per game this season. He's coming of the bench in a limited role, but is still worth a roster spot in 20-man leagues.
Wed Apr 1 201513:06Humphries (groin) expected to make return to court Wednesday
Humphries (groin) is expected to make his return to the court Wednesday, Jorge Castillo of the Washington Post reports.
Fantasy owners can finally breathe a sigh of relief, as Humphries is slated to return after missing 15 straight games with a nagging groin injury. He's been up-and-down for most of the season, but he did string together an impressive run of three double-doubles in four games near the end of January, so he can be of use in daily formats against certain matchups. That said, he'll likely be working his way back up to speed, so he's best avoided Wednesday.
Tue Mar 31 201513:52Humphries (groin) participated in Tuesday's practice
Humphries (groin) participated in Tuesday's practice, CSN Washington reports. Afterward, he said, "I think I'm going to be out there tomorrow [Wednesday]."
Humphries has missed 15 contests due to an ailing groin, but his return to practice forecasts that game action is just around the corner. As a result, consider him questionable for Wednesday's outing against the Sixers.
Sun Mar 29 201511:02Humphries (groin) will remain out Sunday
Humphries (groin) will remain out Sunday, Jorge Castillo of the Washington Post reports.
Humphries has now missed more than a month, but the team said he's returned to individual drills during recent practices. That's a step in the right direction, but Humphries remains without a timetable, and is essentially being evaluated on a game-to-game basis. Look for a further update in advance of Wednesday's matchup with Philadelphia.

Humphries (groin) will not play Friday, J. Michael of CSN reports.
Humphries continues to battle a groin injury, but he's been working on individual drills at practice, and coach coach Randy Wittman said he hopes to have Humphries back soon. His next opportunity will come Sunday versus Houston.

Humphries (groin) did not practice Thursday but did some individual work, J. Michael of CSN reports.
Humphries has now missed more than a month with a nagging groin injury. While the individual drills are a step in the right direction, he doesn't appear overly close to returning, and his absence from Thursday's actual practice should rule him out Friday versus Charlotte.
Wed Mar 25 201517:43Kris Humphries: (Groin) Out Wednesday
Humphries (groin) will miss another game Wednesday against the Pacers, J. Michael of CSN reports.
Humphries has now been sidelined for exactly a month, and the Wizards haven't provided much in the way of a return timetable. Continue to consider Humphries day-to-day, though he isn't a fantasy option in most formats.
Wed Mar 25 201513:52Humphries (groin) listed as doubtful for Wednesday's game
Humphries (groin) is listed as doubtful for Wednesday's game, CSN Washington's J. Michael reports.
He has been out for a month now and it remains to be seen when he will be able to take the court again before the postseason. Drew Gooden and Kevin Seraphin remain the primary frontcourt backups with Humphries out.
