F Kevin Garnett, in his 21st season, played the last time the Timberwolves won in Atlanta before Monday, back on Nov. 20, 2002. A few of his present Minnesota teammates were in elementary school at the time. Garnett contributed four points and eight rebounds Monday.

Timberwolves GM Milt Newton said Monday that Garnett (knee) is healthy and ready to go for the start of training camp, Kent Youngblood of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
After making his return to the Timberwolves in a February deadline deal, Garnett appeared in just five games with the club before a knee injury sidelined him for the remainder of the season. With his health intact for the upcoming season, Garnett is slated to open camp as the starter at center, but he'll likely only see about 20 minutes per night in an effort to keep his 39-year-old legs spry. While Garnett is still capable of providing lockdown defense near the rim, his greatest value may come in the form of mentoring young bigs Karl-Anthony Towns and Gorgui Dieng. As the season progresses, Garnett will likely see his role diminish as the team looks to carve out more minutes for those younger options.
Fri Jul 10 201520:16Kevin Garnett: Expected To Start
Garnett is expected to start and be able to play at least 20 minutes per game according to his coach Flip Saunders, Kyle Ratke of Timberwolves.com reports.
Saunders could be a bit premature in his proclamation for the season ahead at this early point in the offseason, but nonetheless Garnett should be the expected starter alongside rookie Karl-Anthony Towns until Saunders retracts the statements he made Friday while attending the Las Vegas Summer League. However, the 39-year-old's value is confined to deeper formats since it's unlikely he'll play for much longer than 20 minutes and of course there's the possibility he'll also need to rest during back-to-back games.

Garnett has agreed to terms with the Wolves on a contract for the 2015-16 season, ESPN reports.
As expected, the veteran will return to Minnesota for what will likely be his final NBA season. Garnett will tie Kevin Willis and Robert Parish for most seasons played (21), though he isn't likely to be a major factor for a young Timberwolves team. After coming over from Brooklyn midway through last season, Garnett played only a handful of games before sitting out the final 21 contests.

Garnett (knee) told president/coach Flip Saunders that he wants to return to the Timberwolves next season, Alan Horton of Timberwolves Radio reports.
Garnett is set to become a free agent this offseason and should re-sign with the Timberwolves. Last season, Garnett averaged 7.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.8 blocks and 1.0 steal on 58 percent field goal shooting in 20 minutes per game for Minnesota. While only playing in five of the Timberwolves' last 29 games, Garnett started every game he played. With Nikola Pekovic (Achilles) and Gorgui Dieng (concussion) under team control for the next three years, and Adreian Payne under team control for the next four years, Garnett will likely be used in a limited role even if he is used as the nominal starter at power forward in what would be his 20th NBA season. The Timberwolves went with a youth movement down the stretch of this season, but if they are going to try and fight for a playoff spot next season, Garnett will likely play in as many games as he physically can.

Garnett appeared in a total of 47 games for the Timberwolves and Nets in 2014-15, averaging 6.9 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 20.3 minutes per game.
Garnett started all 42 games in which he played for the Nets before being traded to Minnesota at the deadline. His return to the city where he began his NBA career sparked a brief morale boost for one of the league's worst teams, but Garnett would appear in only five games for Minnesota before hitting the shelf for the rest of the season on Mar. 7. It's somewhat unclear whether Garnett was injured or simply receiving veteran rest, but even as he turns 39 next month, he said he plans to return to the Timberwolves in 2015-16. At this point, if he does return, it seems likely he'll be limited in terms of a game-to-game workload, and he could serve in a player/coach type of role as the young Timberwolves look to emerge from the Western Conference cellar.
Tue Apr 21 201514:00Garnett (knee) expected to be back with Wolves next season
Garnett (knee) is expected to be back with the Wolves next season, according to coach Flip Saunders, ESPN reports.
Garnett, who came to the Wolves from Brooklyn at the deadline, is set to become a free agent this offseason. He'll turn 39 in May, but the veteran has expressed interest in coming back to the team that originally drafted him in 1995. Garnett appeared in only five games for Minnesota this season, and if he returns in 2015-16 he'd likely see a similarly reduced role while serving in more of a veteran leadership role.

Garnett (knee) is listed as questionable for Tuesday's game at Sacramento.
In advance of Friday's outing against the Magic, Garnett received an upgrade to questionable availability, but the Timberwolves opted to keep him in street clothes. With three additional days to rest his ailing knee, there's certainly a chance that he'll make his first appearance since Mar. 3, especially with Gorgui Dieng (concussion) and Anthony Bennett (ankle) ruled out.

Garnett (knee) is considered doubtful for Friday's game against the Magic.
Believe it or not, Garnett is yet again being called doubtful, and the team has offered little information that would lead one to think the veteran will play. Garnett has now missed more than a month with knee soreness.

Garnett (knee) will not play Wednesday versus Toronto.
As expected, the veteran will continue to be sidelined, and he's now missed nearly a month with what the team is calling knee soreness. It's certainly possible Garnett could be shut down for the season at this point.
Tue Mar 31 201516:36Garnett (knee) doubtful for Wednesday's game against Toronto
Garnett (knee) is doubtful for Wednesday's game against Toronto, Jerry Zgoda of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Garnett has not played since Mar. 3, and the Timberwolves have not provided any updates on his status. He's apparently still battling knee soreness, and with only eight games remaining it's unclear if he'll be back on the court this season.
Mon Mar 30 201519:03Garnett (knee) ruled out Monday against Jazz
Garnett (knee) has been ruled out Monday against the Jazz, Aaron Falk of the Salt Lake Tribune reports.
Garnett continues to sit out, and at this point one has to wonder if the veteran will be shut down for the remainder of the season. After energizing the team for a few weeks with his return to Minnesota, Garnett has not played in nearly a month, adding to a laundry list of Timberwolves injuries.
