SF Dante Cunningham was in the starting lineup on Friday night in place of Alonzo Gee, who scored 12 points in his previous five games. "This has nothing to do with Alonzo's play," Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry said. "What we're trying to do is maybe create a little more space and then a little more offense."

F Dante Cunningham left in the third quarter after he clashed heads with Warriors C Andrew Bogut. Cunningham never returned to the game because he was being observed for a possible concussion.

Cunningham is expected to receive starts at small forward while Quincy Pondexter is sidelined with a left knee injury, John Reid of The Times-Picayune reports.

With Pondexter expected to be out until November, Cunningham will likely draw into the starting lineup on a nightly basis for the time being. However, the regular season doesn't begin until late October, so that stay in the starting lineup could be relatively brief. Even when he's not starting, Cunningham still figures to see significant minutes off the bench.

Cunningham has agreed to a three-year contract with the Pelicans worth $9 million, John Reid of The Times-Picayune reports.

Cunningham played in New Orleans last season where he averaged 5.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.6 blocks after 66 appearances at 25 minutes per game. As his contract suggests, he'll come off the bench yet again as he takes a backseat to Anthony Davis, Robin Lopez, and Ryan Anderson while splitting reserve time with Alexis Ajinca.

Cunningham averaged 5.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.6 blocks in 25 minutes in 66 games during the 2014-15 season.

Cunningham was signed by the Pelicans in early December after going unemployed the first month of the season due to a domestic violence charge from last April. The charge was dropped in August and Cunningham found his usual role as an off-the-bench big man for the Pelicans. Cunningham made 27 starts for an injured Anthony Davis in mid-January. As a starter, Cunningham averaged 5.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.0 steal, and 0.8 blocks. He heads into the offseason as a free agent. Cunningham has played for five different teams the past six years, and will likely continue this trend, filling a team's bench needs.

Cunningham is averaging 16.5 minutes per game in the postseason thus far.

Cunningham has, as expected, not been a big part of the offense, but he has been making a difference defensively. Cunningham is averaging 2.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game in the playoffs.

Cunningham (knee) posted two points, one rebound, and one assists in 11 minutes of action Sunday against the Rockets.

Cunningham is averaging just 5.2 points and 3.9 rebounds this season, and his fantasy value is limited in spite of putting up 25.2 minutes per game.

Cunningham (knee contusion) will play Sunday in Houston, NBA.com reports.

Cunningham received some bonus playing time Friday when teammate Anthony Davis was forced out due to a throat injury, however Davis is back in the lineup Sunday. Expect Cunningham to resume his usual role, where he still gets plenty of minutes, but is not a big enough part of the offense to be useful in most fantasy formats.

Cunningham (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Houston.

Cunningham started for Anthony Davis on Thursday and picked up more run than normal Friday after Davis sustained a throat contusion. In the two tilts, Cunningham averaged 6.5 points (on 50 percent shooting), 9.5 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, and one steal in 27 minutes. If Davis is out or at all limited Sunday, Cunningham could approach such a workload, barring active status, of course.

Cunningham started in place of Anthony Davis (ankle) on Thursday against the Suns and managed to contribute six points, nine rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 35 minutes.

It's still unclear just how long Davis will be sidelined so it's hard to denote how long Cunningham will see added minutes on the court. Either way, his production during his 35-minute outing suggests that he may not even be worth the late-season addition in standard leagues regardless of his current place in the starting lineup.

Cunningham will start for Anthony Davis (ankle) at Phoenix on Thursday, the Arizona Republic reports.

Davis rolled his left ankle in morning shootaround, forcing him to the pine Thursday and placing his availability in question for Friday's game in Golden State. Cunningham has previously filled in for Davis, averaging 5.9 points (on 44 percent shooting), 4.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists, one steal, and 0.8 blocks in 29 minutes across 24 starts this season.

Cunningham was in the starting lineup again during Wednesday's win over the Nets, finishing with 13 points (6-11 FG, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds, one assist, two steals and a blocked shot in 33 minutes.

Cunningham did a little bit of everything in this one, as he continues to start with both Anthony Davis and Ryan Anderson sitting out due to injuries. He'll likely continue to be in the starting lineup for the next week or two, so he's definitely someone to keep an eye on, especially if he continues to improve on his numbers like he did Wednesday. He had only five points in Monday's game against the Raptors, so he's trending in the right direction.

Cunningham scored five points (2-4 FG, 1-2 FT) to go along with six rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in 31 minutes Monday against the Raptors.

Cunningham started with both Anthony Davis (shoulder) and Ryan Anderson (knee) out of action, but struggled to score again. He's not going to score much even as a starter, but still could contribute on the defensive end as he is averaging 1.0 steals and 1.8 blocks over his last six games.

Cunningham will get the start at power forward Monday.

With Anthony Davis (shoulder) ruled out, Cunningham will move into the starting lineup alongside Omer Asik. Cunningham scored seven points and had four rebounds and two assists in 27 minutes off the bench Friday versus Miami.

Cunningham has been doing just a bit of everything as a starter for the Pelicans this season, averaging 4.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.0 steals in 10 starts.

Cunningham has gotten the opportunity to make some starts of late due to Jrue Holiday's injury, but is far from being the focal point of the Pelicans' attack. The veteran forward will continue to chip in a little bit of everything until New Orleans gets back to full strength and he's transitioned back to the bench.
