"He does want to go up there and play," coach Stan Van Gundy said. "It gives him a chance to play big minutes instead of the 15-20 minutes we're able to give him."

Jennings is expected to begin on-court drills within the next two weeks, Vincent Ellis of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Jennins has now been cleared for basketball activities for two weeks, but the Pistons have held him out of full-speed, on-court drills. Coach Stan Van Gundy said Jennings could be on the practice court next week but also noted that the timetable is far from set in stone. Assuming Jennings' recovery continues to progress at the current rate, he could be back in the lineup as early as mid-December.

Jennings (Achilles) confirmed Monday that he's been cleared to continue basketball-related activities, but was non-committal on when he'd return to the Detroit lineup, David Mayo of MLive.com reports.
For the time being, Jennings is limited to light shooting, running in the pool, and running on a weight-bearing treadmill, so he won't be a candidate to participate in full practices during training camp. Though his return timetable remains up in the air, the Pistons are hopeful Jennings can take the court as soon as mid-December, which would be contingent on him participating in drills by mid-October and adding five-on-five activities to his regimen in mid-November. Jennings mentioned Tuesday that he now weighs in at 195 pounds after eight months of inactivity following the Jan. 24 Achilles surgery, but he expects to return to his playing weight of 170 once he starts working out more vigorously. The Pistons are expected to lean heavily on Steve Blake as the primary backup to Reggie Jackson before Jennings is ready to return.

Jennings (Achilles) has been cleared for basketball activities, Vincent Goodwill of CSN Chicago reports.
Jennings is coming off of a torn Achilles in January, and he's expected to miss at least the first month of the season, with the Pistons saying Tuesday that a late-November/early-December return is likely. Reggie Jackson will open the season as Detroit's starting point guard, but coach Stan Van Gundy hinted last week that Jackson and Jennings could play together in certain lineups. Prior to going down last season, Jennings averaged 15.4 points, 6.6 assists and 2.5 rebounds while posting a 19.74 PER.

Jennings (Achilles) is expected to remain out until mid-to-late December, the Detroit Free Press reports.
Jennings tore his Achilles in January during a stretch in which he and the Pistons were playing arguably their best basketball of the season. The point guard was averaging just shy of 16 points per game prior to the injury, and the PIstons were 12-3 in their last 15 games prior to Jennings going down. With Jennings sidelined for the remainder of the season, Detroit acquired Reggie Jackson at the trade deadline, subsequently signing him to a five-year, $80 million extension this summer. With Jackson set to serve as the starter, Jennings has stated that he's fine with coming off the bench, but coach Stan Van Gundy said he could envision the two point guards playing together. "If he comes back and he's the Brandon Jennings that we had last year, I think those guys can play together quite well," Van Gundy said. "Reggie is big enough (6-feet-3) to guard guys off the ball and everything else. It just gives you two playmakers on the floor together. I think they can be pretty dynamic, but we'll just have to see where Brandon is when he comes back."
Sat Sep 5 201510:51Jennings (Achilles) has no qualms coming off bench as sixth man
Jennings (Achilles) has no qualms coming off the bench as a sixth man, and he will not rush the recovery process after tearing his ACL in January, the Detroit Free Press reports. "If I have to come off the bench and be the sixth man or whatever, I'm fine with that," Jennings said.
In an interview with Jabari Young and Vincent Goodwill of Comcast SportNet, Jennings reiterated that he thought the Pistons acquiring Reggie Jackson was a smart move for the organization. On the final year of his contract, Jennings will likely be brought along slowly and play behind Jackson, occasionally playing opposite the Pistons' starting point guard. Coach Stan Van Gundy recently admitted Jennings may not be ready for the start of the season. It's also possible Van Gundy moves Jennings prior to the trade deadline to recoup some value. Jennings provided fantasy gold last season after Josh Smith was waived, but the expected minute reduction and health concerns will cap his overall value.

Jennings (Achilles) may not be ready when the team opens the season in October, MLive.com reports.
Stan Van Gundy offered a brief update on Jennings' status recently, stating that the point guard continues to rehab in Las Vegas. "Obviously still not at the point of running or anything," Van Gundy said. "Can start to do a little bit more activity all the time. We're hopeful." Jennings tore his Achilles in January and initially hoped to be ready for the start of training camp. "We've still got about 14 weeks before the season opens," Van Gundy said. "We've got a long time. We're hoping that he will be back and ready to play but it may not be at the beginning of the year. We'll just have to see." At this point, it's still too early to assign Jennings a firm return timeline, and his status will continue to be monitored over the next two months leading up to training camp.

Jennings (Achilles) is expected to be ready in time for training camp, Yahoo! Sports' Marc Spears reports.
Jennings' recovery is progressing rather quickly, as he tore his Achilles in late-January and is expected to be ready to participate in training camp, which begins in September. Assuming the Pistons re-sign Reggie Jackson, Jennings will compete with Jackson for minutes at the point guard spot, and it's possible the two could play together in certain lineups.

Jennings (Achilles) says strength and conditioning coach Arnie Kandet speculates that the point guard could return to the court by August, David Mayo of MLive.com reports.
Should Jennings remain on this schedule, he would return in time for training camp. He was the starting point guard when he went down with the injury, but should the Pistons retain unrestricted free agent Reggie Jackson this offseason, Jennings will have to work and compete with Jackson to earn his job as a starter back.

Jennings appeared in and started 41 games before a ruptured Achilles in January cut his season short.
The Pistons got off to a horrendous start to the season, but Jennings was one of the primary reasons they were able to temporarily right the ship after annexing Josh Smith. During a 10-game stretch in which the Pistons went 9-1 and surged into the Eastern Conference playoff discussion, Jennings averaged 20.3 points, 7.0 assists and 2.9 rebounds while shooting 47 percent from the field and 42.2 percent from three. It was easily his best stretch of the season and arguably the most consistent stretch of his career. Jennings' numbers regressed a bit over the next week, but he posted a ridiculous 24-point, 21-assist line on Jan. 21, the last full game he'd play before the injury. Jennings was given a 6-to-9 month recovery timetable, so he'll likely be ready right around the time the 2015-16 season kicks off. As of mid-March he had begun weight training, and the rehab appears to be progressing as expected. Jennings enters the offseason with one year remaining on the three-year deal he signed with Detroit in the summer of 2013. His future with the franchise is murky at this point, however, after the Pistons traded for restricted-free-agent-to-be, Reggie Jackson, at the deadline. If Jackson re-signs with Detroit, Jennings would likely become expendable, meaning the Pistons may look to deal his expiring contract. If they opt to hold onto Jennings, it's likely he'll come off the bench behind Jackson as he works his way back from the Achilles injury.

Jennings (Achilles) is able to start weight training.
Jennings seems to be progressing nicely from a full tear in his Achilles that he suffered in late January. However, there are serious question marks regarding his future as he makes his way back from serious injury. Only time will tell, but it's still unclear if he'll play at the same level that he once did before suffering the career-altering injury.

Jennings (Achilles) is expecting to walk without a boot in two weeks, David Mayo of MLive Media reports.
Jennings is reportedly three weeks ahead of schedule but will still miss the remainder of the season after tearing his Achilles earlier in the year. There's still a long road to recovery although this news certainly bodes well for his availability for the 2015-16 season.
Sun Jan 25 201515:28Brandon Jennings: (Achilles) MRI Shows Full Tear
Jennings has a full tear in his Achilles and will miss the remainder of the season, The Detroit News reports.
An MRI on Sunday revealed the unfortunate news that has been expected since Jennings left Saturday's game against the Bucks with the injury. There's a wide range for his potential return to action as the likely timeline is 6-9 months. His status will be updated throughout the process as D.J. Augustin takes over starting point guard duties for the rest of the season.
