Young (illness) is inactive for Monday's game against the Clippers.
Young will miss his second straight game while battling the flu. Even if healthy, though, the rookie likely wouldn't play significant minutes. Consider him questionable to play Thursday in Portland.

Young will miss Friday's game with the flu.
The Celtics are dealing with an illness that is making its way through the locker room, but Evan Turner and Jared Sullinger are both expected to fight through it Friday. Consider Young day-to-day.

Young came off the bench for seven minutes against the Pacers on Friday and amounted just one rebound during his short time on the court.
Young is in a better spot after the Celtics traded away Jeff Green, although only minimally. Coach Brad Stevens has openly acknowledged that the rookie has work to do before he can be considered a daily option, but that may certainly manifest by the end of the season. As for now, Young will likely see limited minutes on the court and is still a heartbeat away from serving another stint in the D-League.

Young will be active for Friday's game against the Pacers as a result of the Pacers trading away Jeff Green and Brandan Wright, Sean Grande of Celtics.com reports.
Even with the mass exodus in Boston, Young will likely still struggle to get on the court against the Pacers. Obviously things have changed in his favor, although coach Brad Stevens has openly acknowledged that the rookie is not quite ready to face NBA-level competition on a nightly basis.
Fri Jan 9 201512:00Young will in fact be inactive for Friday's game against Pacers
Young will in fact be inactive for Friday's game against the Pacers, the Boston Herald reports.
Young is not in the immediate plans of coach Brad Stevens and the rookie's value is suffering as a result. It would be somewhat surprising if Young wasn't relegated to another stint in the D-League to maintain his edge, in the event that Stevens were to change his mind on the 19-year-old at some point in the future.

Young will likely be a healthy inactive for Friday's game against the Pacers, Marc D'Amico of Celtics.com reports.
Young seems to be out of favor with coach Brad Stevens as the skipper said Friday that he would most likely continue to keep Young off the court, despite being healthy. The rookie may see things change towards the end of the season, but as for now he's hardly getting any chances to take the court.
Wed Jan 7 201518:17Young inactive for Wednesday's game against Nets
Young is inactive for Wednesday's game against the Nets.
Despite scoring 13 points in 18 minutes Monday, Young will be one of the Celtics' inactives Wednesday. Coach Brad Stevens said it was a difficult call to make, but with Marcus Thornton back from injury, the rookie is simply the odd man out.
Wed Jan 7 201512:02Young may be active for Wednesday's game against Nets
Young may be active for Wednesday's game against the Nets, Mark Murphy of the Boston Herald reports.
Coach Brad Stevens said the rookie's status is up in the air and hinges upon a number of factors, including the progress of Marcus Thornton, who's a game-time call after missing the last 11 games. Young had his best game of the season Monday against Charlotte, scoring 13 points (5-7 FG, 3-4 3Pt) in 18 minutes. The performance may be a sign of things to come, though Young isn't likely to see enough minutes this season to make a true fantasy impact.

Young scored 13 points (5-7 FG, 3-4 3Pt) to go along with one rebound in 18 minutes Monday against the Hornets.
Young was recalled from the D-League Monday and saw more minutes than was likely expected due to the Celtics getting down big in this game early. Don't expect Young to be a significant fantasy contributor.
Mon Jan 5 201513:50Young recalled from D-League on Monday
Young was recalled from the D-League on Monday.
This last trip to the Maine Red Claws was not Young's first, nor will it be his last, as the Celtics have sent Young for occasional D-League appearances throughout the season. His lack of permanence on the NBA roster speaks to his lack of fantasy value in most formats.
Sat Jan 3 201512:39Young sent back to D-League on Saturday
Young was sent back to the D-League on Saturday.
He continues to go back and forth between the Celtics and the Maine Red Claws of the D-League, which limits his fantasy value to dynasty leagues.
Thu Jan 1 201512:43Young recalled from D-League on Thursday
Young was recalled from the D-League on Thursday, NBA.com reports.
Young played 35 minutes in Wednesday's win over the Texas Legends, tallying a game-high 25 points on 9-of-15 shooting to go with five rebounds and three assists. He's averaging nearly 22 points per game in seven D-League contests.
Wed Dec 31 201411:22Young assigned to Development League
Young has been assigned to the Development League, A. Sherrod Blakely of Comcast SportsNet reports.
Young has already been sent down and called up from the Maine Red Claws several times this year, so expect that dance to continue going forward. He will be recalled to the NBA soon, but Young will ride the bench during those games unless significant injuries force him into the lineup.
Mon Dec 29 201410:46Young recalled to Boston from D-League Maine Red Claws
Young has been recalled to Boston from the D-League Maine Red Claws.
Young was stellar in his only game with Maine, a last-second loss where Young scored 15 points on 6-of-13 shooting. The rookie also had a +/- of 14, highest on the team by 11 points. The Celtics apparently liked what they saw enough to put him back the NBA roster after one game. Going forward, Young figures to stay low in the depth chart at shooting guard and small forward, but the Celtics wouldn't have called him up if they didn't plan to give him the minutes needed to develop.
Sun Dec 28 201412:32Young assigned to D-League Maine Red Claws, team announced
Young has been assigned to the D-League Maine Red Claws, the team announced.
The purpose of this is to give Young enough playing time to get up to NBA speed after his shoulder injury. The rookie hasn't played since a two-minute appearance Dec. 5th, so any game time is good game time for him. Strong play in Maine could lead to real minutes in Boston, but that will require time and some things to break right for Young.
Fri Dec 26 201411:49Young healthy but will remain on inactive list for now
Young is healthy but will remain on the inactive list for now, according to coach Brad Stevens.
Young had been dealing with a shoulder issue, but Stevens indicated that the rookie guard is now healthy. However, he'll remain out of the rotation for the time being and is a candidate to return to the D-League at some point. The 17th overall pick in the 2014 draft, Young has not played since Dec. 5 and has seen time in only five contests this season.

He practiced Monday but will not be available Tuesday as coach Brad Stevens said Young will visit with the doctor when the team returns home to Boston to determine if he can play.

Young (shoulder) will be available for Tuesday's game against the Magic.
Young hasn't played in more than two weeks as he rehabs a shoulder injury, but coach Brad Stevens confirmed that the rookie will be an option off the bench Tuesday. Young, who was selected with the 17th overall pick, has appeared in only five games while spending multiple stints with the D-League's Maine Red Claws.
Fri Dec 12 201418:34James Young: (Shoulder) Out Indefinitely
Young has muscle damage in his right shoulder and will rehab over the next two weeks in an attempt to avoid surgery, the Boston Herald's Mark Murphy reports.
The official diagnosis is right shoulder subluxation, and Young will be reevaluated in two weeks to determine the next course of action. Even before this injury Young was not rosterable in most single-season leagues, as this was shaping up as a developmental year for him. Consider him out indefinitely.
Thu Dec 11 201413:40Young recalled from Maine of D-League on Thursday
Young was recalled from Maine of the D-League on Thursday.
Young had a solid game for the Red Claws on Wednesday, tallying 19 points (5-7 3Pt) to go with six rebounds and three assists. However, he's unlikely to crack Brad Stevens' rotation with the Celtics anytime soon.
