Tue Sep 26 202320:55Ben Simmons Is '100 Percent Healthy' Entering Training Camp
Brooklyn Nets forward Ben Simmons has seemingly had a different aura about him this offseason. He's seemed overly positive and everyone involved with the Nets is very excited. Head coach Jacque Vaughn has now said that Simmons is 100 percent healthy and going 5-on-5 entering training camp. This comes as huge news since Simmons hasn't exactly been healthy for the past few seasons. His positive headspace is another welcoming surprise since the team has invested a lot into him and if he could return to anywhere near his All-NBA level, then it would be a giant win for the team that could speed up their rebuild efforts.

Sat Sep 9 202309:33Ben Simmons Expects To Be "All-Star Caliber" Player Again
Brooklyn Nets guard/forward Ben Simmons is apparently looking to return with a bang in 2023-24, with ESPN's Marc J. Spears reporting that he's hoping to get back to All-Star form. "He's talking about being an All-Star again. He said in some workouts in Miami he put the ball through his legs and dunked," Spears said earlier this week on NBA Today. "He expects to be healthy and that he will play in the first game this season. And that All-Star caliber player, he expects that player to be back." Simmons has been getting a lot of slack from NBA fans and media in recent years, but he showcased himself as a player with a unique skillset when he was at his best, earning three straight All-Star selections from 2019 to 2021. Simmons averaged 15.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 7.5 assists during the three-year spell, and it looks like we could see him put up similar numbers in the upcoming campaign.

Tue Aug 29 202318:05Ben Simmons Confident In A Bounce-Back Season
Brooklyn Nets forward Ben Simmons believes he's going to bounce back next season in a big way after playing just 42 total games across the last two years. In an interview with Marc J. Spears of ESPN, Simmons said "I'm excited because I know I can do it." The 27-year-old was referring to getting back to his All-NBA form that he once was used to. He's been in the gym five days a week for at least five hours per day this offseason preparing to come back as the defensive stalwart and playmaker that he was with the 76ers. With the way the last few seasons have played out, this could be a make-or-break type of season for Simmons' future.

Sun Aug 20 202321:47Ben Simmons In 'Fantastic Shape' This Offseason
Brooklyn Nets forward Ben Simmons has struggled the past two seasons with back issues as well as some knee injuries. Mark Jones of ESPN spoke with Simmons this week and he said that the 27-year-old point-forward is in fantastic shape and has been spending quality time with head coach Jacque Vaughn, Royce O'Neale, and Dennis Smith Jr. Most of the conversation surrounding Simmons this summer has been positive as teammate Mikal Bridges spoke on a podcast that he's expecting to see some big things as well. This would be a pleasant outcome for the Nets after acquiring the former number-one pick and not seeing great results so far.

Sun Aug 6 202300:14Ben Simmons Almost "Full Form"
According to Nets forward Cameron Johnson, guard/forward Ben Simmons is "close to full form." "He sounds good," said Johnson after a recent Team USA practice. "He's in a good place. He says it's progressing, and he's excited for the season." Simmons' limited time in Brooklyn has been met with disappointment. He battled various injuries last season, limiting him to 42 games while averaging 6.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 1.3 steals. Nonetheless, the 27-year-old, currently rehabbing in Florida following back surgery, has proven to be a productive player over the years. While fantasy managers will naturally be apprehensive about drafting him heading into the 2023-24 campaign, he could smash expectations if he stays healthy and focused.

Thu Jul 27 202322:33Ben Simmons Fully Healthy For Training Camp
Brooklyn Nets guard Ben Simmons (back) is reportedly 100 percent healthy and a full-go heading into training camp. The 27-year-old isn't expected to have any limitations after missing most of last season due to injuries. Simmons only played in 42 games in 2022 and produced the worst season of his NBA career. The All-Star guard is reportedly the healthiest he has been in years. Simmons is expected to compete for the starting point guard spot in training camp. It seems unlikely that the Nets are going to hand it to him as they want to see him actually put in the work to improve his game. We'll wait and see if Simmons can actually turn it around and get back to his All-Star form.

Fri Jul 14 202322:48Ben Simmons Not Involved In Trade Discussions
Brooklyn Nets guard/forward Ben Simmons is reportedly not being currently shopped in trade talks. Specifically, Jake Fischer of Yahoo reports that the Nets "have not held any meaningful trade conversation regarding Simmons and this Lillard-to-Miami blockbuster". The 26-year-old still has two years remaining on his lucrative contract. Brooklyn could experience difficulty in trying to dump Simmons' salary without selling him for pennies on the dollar. The enigmatic three-time All-Star logged 6.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game over 42 contests in 2022-2023. Simmons figures to be a decent 2023-2024 bounce-back proposition wherever he suits up following a career-worst year.

Fri Jun 30 202317:42Ben Simmons Won't Participate In World Cup
Brooklyn Nets forward Ben Simmons has decided to not participate in the FIBA World Cup this summer. It was reported in May that Simmons was hopeful to represent Australia in the World Cup this summer. However, the 26-year-old has opt-out in order to focus on rehabbing his back injury that limited him to 43 games last season. Simmons averaged a career-worst 6.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 6.1 assists last season with the Brooklyn Nets. When healthy, Simmons is normally a reliable contributor, but lately his commitment to basketball seems questionable. We'll see what kind of shape he's in heading into training camp.

Tue Jun 6 202320:34Ben Simmons Back On The Court
Brooklyn Nets guard/forward Ben Simmons (back) posted several pictures to social media of a recent on-court session. The 26-year-old had the worst season of his career in 2022-23, averaging 6.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 1.3 steals. He also battled a knee injury before his year ended in February because of nerve impingement in his back. While the images are somewhat promising, nobody knows for sure when he'll be ready to play. Of course, even if Simmons is cleared well ahead of fantasy drafts moving into the 2023-24 campaign, he won't garner the same level of attention he did in the past. However, if the former LSU Tiger is added to Australia's roster for the FIBA World Cup and plays well, that will change.

Sat May 20 202316:11Ben Simmons Doing Well In Recovery Process
Brooklyn Nets guard/forward Ben Simmons (back) is progressing from a back injury which cost him the post-All-Star break portion of the regular season. Those surrounding the 26-year-old during his rehab cite that Simmons is demonstrating an improvement in "focus" and is "engaged with everything". 'Engaged' is about the opposite of how the three-time All-Star looked on the court throughout the course of the 2022-2023 campaign while averaging career-low figures mostly across the board. Simmons' status on the new-look Nets remains fairly unclear at this interval of time. Rumors are likely to swirl all summer long regarding a possible trade out of Brooklyn.

Sun May 7 202313:19Ben Simmons Wants To Play In World Cup
Brooklyn Nets guard/forward Ben Simmons (back) expressed his desire to play for the Australian National Team in the FIBA World Cup. The former 76er hasn't played since February 15, with his year ending prematurely because of a back issue. While he was already expected to be healthy for training camp, his aspiration to participate in international play potentially means he's progressing with his rehab efforts. Simmons is coming off a rough 2022-23 campaign, averaging career-lows in points (6.9), rebounds (6.3), assists (6.1), and steals (1.3). Without question, the 26-year-old offered fantasy managers plenty of versatility in the past. However, his fantasy stock can't get much lower heading into next season, although he undoubtedly has a massive upside if he returns to form.

Mon Apr 24 202322:52Ben Simmons Expected To Be 100% By September
According to Brooklyn Nets general manager Sean Marks, small forward Ben Simmons (back) is not expected to have surgery. The former 76er underwent surgery in May 2022 to repair a herniated disk. However, after logging only 42 games this season, he was hobbled by a nerve issue in his back, which ended his season prematurely. Fortunately, Simmons is anticipated to be 100% by September and ready to go for training camp. The 26-year-old had a horrendous 22-23 campaign, finishing with averages of 6.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 1.3 steals. He also had a career-low 110.2 defensive rating. It's fair to say there will be more than a few fantasy managers who look past him heading into next season. But his upside is still high, even though nobody should reach for him during fantasy drafts.
Wed Apr 19 202314:40Ben Simmons Reportedly Believes He Can Return To All-Star Form
Brooklyn Nets guard/forward Ben Simmons (back) looks set to avoid a second surgery and believes he can return to All-Star form, reports the New York Post. "The group around Ben has noticed a complete change in Ben's focus and mentality [through] this rehab and how he has attacked it and engaged with everything, and there is a lot of belief in him being able to return to his All-Star form." a source told the Post. Simmons was an All-Star for three consecutive years in 2019-2021 before his career was suddenly derailed by health issues, both mental and physical. He made only 42 appearances this season, averaging 6.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists.

Tue Mar 28 202315:24Ben Simmons Officially Out For The Remainder Of The Season
Brooklyn Nets forward Ben Simmons (back) was rumored to be out for the rest of the season before, but head coach Jacque Vaughn made it official on Tuesday. He said that Simmons will begin a rehab program for his back and will not play in the remaining seven games. Fantasy-wise, this doesn't change much since the 26-year-old was already sidelined and he didn't produce enough throughout the year to warrant a roster spot in any format. Hopefully, he'll be able to rest up and regain his All-Star status from a couple of seasons ago.

Fri Mar 3 202319:42Ben Simmons Experiences Back Soreness During Rehab
Brooklyn Nets guard/forward Ben Simmons (knee) experienced back soreness during rehab this week. The 26-year-old has missed the last four games with a nagging knee issue. However, the latest setback only adds more uncertainty concerning whether he can make it back in 2022-23. Simmons is easily having the worst season of his career, averaging 6.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 1.3 steals in 42 games. That said, while there reportedly hasn't been a conversation about shutting him down, fantasy managers shouldn't be shocked if he doesn't return for the rest of the season. But considering how poorly he's played, it won't be a significant loss on the fantasy end.

Thu Mar 2 202310:26Ben Simmons Ruled Out For Friday Versus Boston
Brooklyn Nets forward Ben Simmons (knee) was already ruled out for Friday's contest during the post-game media availability by head coach Jacque Vaughn. It looks like Simmons' knee soreness continues to be a bigger issue and will keep him out of a fifth consecutive game. In fantasy terms, this isn't too relative to most fantasy managers as almost everyone except for those in extremely large leagues or dynasty formats have moved on from Simmons already. His fantasy relevance is at an all-time low and shouldn't be anywhere near the radar for the rest of the season.

Tue Feb 28 202317:32Ben Simmons Remains Sidelined Against Milwaukee
Brooklyn Nets forward Ben Simmons (knee) will sit out a third consecutive game due to knee soreness as he was officially ruled out of the team's contest on Wednesday night. This will also be his 19th missed game of the season, but the team hasn't missed much while he's been out. The fifth-year point-forward has been posting career lows almost across the board as he still tries to get back to the All-Star level that he was on while in Philadelphia. While he's out, Royce O'Neale and Dorian Finney-Smith should handle any of those vacated minutes.

Sun Feb 26 202302:25Ben Simmons Out Again On Sunday Afternoon
Brooklyn Nets guard/forward Ben Simmons (knee) remains out for Sunday's clash with the Atlanta Hawks. He'll now miss his second consecutive game because of left knee soreness, an injury he's battled for most of the season. Truth be told, Simmons' designation doesn't mean much for fantasy managers, considering he's averaged a career-low 6.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 6.1 assists. However, his absence should at least allow Dorian Finney-Smith, Royce O'Neale, and Cam Thomas to continue to see more minutes, although none of them are consistent fantasy contributors.

Fri Feb 24 202314:59Ben Simmons Considered Questionable On Friday
Brooklyn Nets forward Ben Simmons (knee) has been given the questionable tag for Friday's game against the Chicago Bulls. Since the team has been revamped following their big trades before the deadline, Simmons has struggled to carve out a consistent role on the team whether he starts or comes off of the bench. Even though he's been playing around 20 minutes per contest, he isn't a strong fantasy option in any format. Joe Harris and Dorian Finney-Smith would likely see some more opportunities if Simmons can't play.

Fri Feb 10 202313:152023 NBA Trade Deadline Breakdown - Fantasy Basketball Impacts
The NBA trade deadline has officially come and gone and we had one of the most active deadlines in recent memory with some big stars being dealt. Kyrie, KD, and Westbrook are all heading to new teams and we have been covering those trades and their fantasy impacts here at RotoBaller. But there were plenty of other lesser-known players who were dealt in the last few days and I wanted to go through and make sure we don't overlook some of these trades as some of those deals may even have more fantasy impact than the big moves. So here are some other trades that went down and my two cents on the increase or decrease in value that we should expect from the players involved for the remainder of the 2022-2023 fantasy basketball season.

Moves That Matter

These are very much in order of how much they matter. Let's start with the Spurs sending their starting center back up North where he started his career.Jakob Poeltl to the RaptorsI am a huge Poeltl fan and was close to acquiring him on multiple teams before the deadline. It was a curious move by Toronto to be buyers instead of sellers at the deadline, but Poeltl gives them the presence at the five they have been lacking all season and allows Siakam to shift over and play PF where he belongs.Poeltl is no longer a shutdown candidate and has legit top-50 upside with his multi-category abilities. His departure also makes ... [More]
