Tue Dec 10 201317:10Titans waive veteran TE Visanthe Shiancoe
Titans waived TE Visanthe Shiancoe.
C Kevin Matthews was re-signed in a corresponding roster move. Shiancoe's release is an indication Delanie Walker (concussion) will be ready for Week 15. Shiancoe played 27 snaps in Sunday's loss to the Broncos. Going on 33, Shiancoe is near the end of the line.

Tue Dec 3 201316:44Titans sign veteran TE Visanthe Shiancoe
Titans agreed to terms with TE Visanthe Shiancoe.
With both Delanie Walker and Craig Stevens dealing with concussions, the Titans were low on bodies at tight end. Released by the Ravens in training camp, Shiancoe has made just four appearances since the end of the 2011 season. Shiancoe is just an emergency option, and shouldn't be used as more than a blocker if he's active for Week 14.

Sun Aug 25 201311:46Shiancoe among first wave of Ravens cuts
Ravens released TE Visanthe Shiancoe and waived OG Ramon Harewood.
Shiancoe signed with the Ravens late last month after Dennis Pitta went down with his hip injury. He had been working with the starters a bit, but Ed Dickson (hamstring) is close to returning and Dallas Clark's tank isn't as low as Shiancoe's. The 33-year-old hasn't caught a regular-season pass since 2011. His career is running on fumes. Harewood started five games at left guard last season.

Tue Aug 6 201308:43Visanthe Shiancoe lining up with starters
Visanthe Shiancoe has practiced with the starters over the last two days.
A week after getting signed off the street, Shiancoe has been thrust into a major role. Dennis Pitta (hip) is done for the year and Ed Dickson (hamstring) could miss most of the preseason. However, Shiancoe has always been an in-line tight end that failed to threaten linebackers and safeties in the passing game. His career-high for yardage in a season is 596, set back in 2008 when he was 28 years old. Shiancoe isn't going to work out as a "move" or "flex" tight end.

Fri Aug 2 201321:50Shiancoe to fill old Dickson role?
The Baltimore Sun suggests Visanthie Shiancoe will play a role with the 2013 Ravens "similar to the one that Ed Dickson played last year."
Dickson was an in-line tight end in 2012, primarily blocking and playing limited snaps en route to 21 receptions for 225 yards (10.7 YPR). Dickson is taking Dennis Pitta's old role as the pass-catching "move" or "flex" tight end. In other words, don't expect 33-year-old Shiancoe to come into any fantasy value.

Sun Jul 28 201315:27Tight end-needy Ravens sign Visanthe Shiancoe
Ravens signed TE Visanthe Shiancoe to a one-year contract.
The move comes one day after Dennis Pitta's year-ending hip injury. Now 33 years old, Shiancoe is coming off a four-game, zero-catch season in New England after catching 36 balls for 409 yards and three scores in 2011 with Minnesota. He doesn't have much left, but could help Baltimore as a blocker, allowing Ed Dickson to take on Pitta's old duties. We're still not in love with the idea of leaning on any Ravens tight end in 2013 fantasy leagues.

Fri Jul 26 201320:28Ravens may sign Visanthe Shiancoe
The Ravens are "considering signing" free agent TE Visanthe Shiancoe.
He would be their No. 3 tight end behind Dennis Pitta and Ed Dickson. Now 33 years old, Shiancoe doesn't have a whole lot left in the tank but has generated some interest around the NFL. He worked out for the Bucs earlier this week, and on Friday watched Ravens practice seated alongside GM Ozzie Newsome.

Tue Jul 23 201309:01Visanthe Shiancoe to work out for Bucs
Free agent TE Visanthe Shiancoe is working out for the Bucs Tuesday.
The Bucs certainly need help at tight end, where their depth chart currently lists Luke Stocker as the starter and Tom Crabtree as the backup. We're just skeptical Shiancoe would contribute much at this point. He's 33 years old and played just 59 snaps last season.

Mon Dec 17 201220:12Seahawks work out TE Shiancoe
Seahawks worked out free agent TE Visanthe Shiancoe on Monday.
Shiancoe was cut by the Patriots last week in favor of Michael Hoomanawanui and Daniel Fells. The 32-year-old played in four games this season but failed to register on the stat sheet. Seattle is just updating their emergency list.

Tue Dec 11 201218:46Patriots waive veteran TE Shiancoe
Patriots waived TE Visanthe Shiancoe.
The Pats valued Shiancoe enough to stash him on injured reserve's designated for return list early this season, but not enough to keep him around for the stretch run. Rookie speedster Jeff Demps may have been a better use of the designation. Shiancoe has played just 59 snaps all season. Rob Gronkowski was given a 4-8 week timetable to return after undergoing surgery. It's been nearly four weeks.

Mon Nov 19 201211:16Visanthe Shiancoe plays 26 snaps
Visanthe Shiancoe played on 26-of-61 offensive snaps in the Patriots' Week 11 blowout of the Colts.
Shiancoe didn't record a catch or target. Even though his snaps figure to rise thanks to Rob Gronkowski's forearm injury, there's not much upside here. Aaron Hernandez (ankle) is expected back on Thanksgiving and Julian Edelman will pick up Gronk's inside targets. Desperate owners need to look elsewhere.

Sat Nov 10 201216:26Patriots activate TE Shiancoe
Patriots activated TE Visanthe Shiancoe (hamstring) from injured reserve designated for return.
Shiancoe was eligible to return in Week 9, and New England had up until this upcoming Tuesday to make a decision on him. The activation could be a sign that Aaron Hernandez's (ankle) status for Sunday's game may be in question. Shiancoe has no fantasy value.

Tue Oct 23 201217:50Patriots TE Shiancoe returns to practice
Patriots TE Visanthe Shiancoe (hamstring, designated for return) has returned to practice.
Shiancoe is eligible to return from injured reserve after Week 8. He could be available to play next week, though that's far from a certainty. Shiancoe has no fantasy value behind Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez.

Wed Sep 5 201215:17Shiancoe sent to IR, but designated to return
Patriots assigned TE Visanthe Shiancoe (undisclosed) the "designated for return" tag on injured reserve.
Shiancoe has been sidelined with an undisclosed injury since the early days of camp. Players who are designated for return must spend at least six weeks on injured reserve. The move comes on the same day New England signed TE Michael Hoomanawanui. There's no guarantee Shiancoe plays a snap for the Pats this season.

Tue Aug 21 201223:13Visanthe Shiancoe out with injury
Patriots TE Visanthe Shiancoe has missed the "last several weeks" with an undisclosed injury.
He's looking doubtful for Friday's preseason game. With Daniel Fells (leg) rounding back to health, Shiancoe's roster spot is likely in grave danger, though the Pats gave him $400,000 guaranteed. If Shiancoe manages to crack to the Patriots' 53-man roster, he'll be completely off the fantasy radar behind Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez.

Tue Jul 24 201218:54Shiancoe chooses New England over Philly
Patriots signed TE Visanthe Shiancoe to a one-year, $1.2 million contract.
Profootballtalk reports Shiancoe will receive $400,000 guaranteed and $800,000 in incentives, typical of a veteran signing just prior to training camp. The addition of Shiancoe suggests the Patriots aren't counting on Daniel Fells (leg) to contribute any time soon. The Eagles, lacking veteran depth at the position, had also offered Shiancoe a contract. Don't look for fantasy value behind Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez in New England.

Tue Jul 24 201218:43Report: Shiancoe won't sign with Eagles
Free agent TE Visanthe Shiancoe has opted against signing with the Eagles.
The inference is that Shiancoe has chosen the Patriots, though we've yet to see confirmation. Both teams had offered the 32-year-old a contract as of Tuesday afternoon.

Tue Jul 24 201215:06Shiancoe negotiating with Eagles, Patriots
Free agent TE Visanthe Shiancoe is negotiating with both the Eagles and the Patriots after visiting both teams.
Shiancoe doesn't fill more than a need for more than veteran depth in either locale, so he shouldn't expect much up-front money. Shiancoe turned down a $1.2 million offer from the Seahawks earlier in the offseason.

Mon Jul 23 201213:58Visanthe Shiancoe to visit Eagles Tuesday
Free agent TE Visanthe Shiancoe will visit the Eagles on Tuesday.
The visit will come five days after Shiancoe left New England without a contract. Shiancoe is on the wrong side of 30 and showed signs of decline for the Vikings last season, but shouldn't remain unsigned too deep into training camp season.

Wed Jul 18 201219:48Patriots to host Shiancoe on Thursday
The Patriots will host free agent TE Visanthe Shiancoe on Thursday.
Shiancoe would compete for New England's No. 3 tight end job behind Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez. The 32-year-old turned down a one-year, $1.2 million offer from Seattle earlier this offseason. We suspect Shiancoe won't be offered much more by the Patriots, who are obviously deep at the position.
