(AP) — Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter doesn't believe that left fielder Trey Mancini is going to have a difficult time in his second full season in the major leagues."People threw the kitchen sink at him last year," Showalter said. "It wasn't like, 'this year, we're going to throw him something different.' They tried everything."Mancini had an impressive rookie season. He hit .293 with 24 home runs and 78 RBIs, and made a successful conversion from first base to the outfield, which he had never played professionally.The 25-year-old finished third in voting for American League Rookie of the Year, and feels he has a lot to prove."Every spring training I've gone in with the mindset that I'm fighting for a job and I'm not going to change that, no matter what the circumstances," Mancini said. (AP) — Pitcher Chris Tillman and the Baltimore Orioles finalized a $3 million, one-year contract that allows him to earn an additional $7 million in performance bonuses.Tillman would earn $1 million each for 125 and 150 innings, $1.5 million apiece for 175 and 190 and $2 million for 200 as part of the deal announced Wednesday. The first $1 million in performance bonuses earned is due Nov. 20, but any amounts above that are deferred, due each Jan. 20 in increments of $1 million. The Oakland Athletics recalled recently acquired outfielder Boog Powell from Triple-A Nashville on Friday.The Athletics also recalled right-hander Michael Brady from Nashville while optioning outfielders Jaycob Brugman and Mark Canha to the same club.Powell was acquired on Sunday in the deal that sent All-Star first baseman Yonder Alonso to the Seattle Mariners. The 24-year-old had a major league stint with the Mariners earlier this season but batted just .194 in 23 games.Powell hit .340 in 58 games at Triple-A Tacoma prior to the trade. The left-handed hitter was 4-for-16 in three games for Nashville.Brady is beginning his third stint of the season with the Athletics. He posted a 4.15 ERA in eight appearances.At Nashville, Brady is 3-1 with a 3.21 ERA in 17 appearances (eight starts).Canha struggled in 34 games this season for the Athletics, batting just .210 with four homers and 10 RBIs. He is hitting .271 with 12 homers and 46 RBIs in 66 games with the Sounds.Brugman batted .266 with three homers and 12 RBIs in 48 games with Oakland.
