The Chicago Cubs have signed catcher Joe Hudson to a minor-league deal. The 32-year-old hasn't appeared in the big leagues since the COVID-shortened 2020 season when he hit .176 across just 20 plate appearances with the Seattle Mariners. A sixth-round pick of the Reds in 2012, Hudson has spent the last three seasons at Triple-A in the Pirates, Rays, and Braves organizations while he is likely to serve as minor-league depth with his fourth different club in as many seasons in 2024. In 18 games and 33 big-league plate appearances, Hudson has hit just .167 with zero home runs and one RBI between the Cardinals and Mariners.
