It's an abrupt fall for a guy that started 13 games as a rookie last season. Afalava appears to have fallen behind Josh Bullocks as the fifth safety and the Bears are likely to keep Craig Steltz due to his special teams ability.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Bears S Al Afalava is still recovering from nerve damage in the shoulder he injured last season.
The injury cost him three games, but isn't expected to affect Afalava's status for training camp. A spot starter as a rookie, Afalava finished 2009 with 53 tackles and a pair of sacks. He'll be Chris Harris' backup this season.
