Mon Dec 2 201317:09Packers sign reserve RB Kahlil Bell
Packers signed RB Kahlil Bell.
The Pack were short a back after sending Johnathan Franklin (concussion) to injured reserve. Bell has 148 career carries for 633 yards (4.3 YPC), but would need injuries in front of him to get the ball in Green Bay.

Tue May 21 201317:29Kahlil Bell working out for Jags Wednesday
Free agent RB Kahlil Bell will work out for the Jaguars on Wednesday.
On the street for a majority of 2012, Bell rushed 29 times for 76 yards in four games for the Bears, flopping as a short-yardage back. He'd be a depth signing for a Jaguars team that's already four deep at running back.

Sun Dec 23 201220:08Kahlil Bell rushes for 32 yards off bench
Bears RB Kahlil Bell rushed 13 times for 32 yards off the bench in Week 16 against the Cardinals.
Bell was the lead back ahead of Armando Allen (5-24, 1-1) after Matt Forte's third-quarter ankle reaggravation. Depending on Forte's recovery speed, Bell could get another extended look in Week 17 against the Lions. Bell is a pedestrian back with 4.7 speed but some versatility. He had a couple of big box-score games when Forte was injured down the stretch last season.

Wed Dec 19 201216:13Kahlil Bell in line for goal-line carries?
Bears OC Mike Tice says newly re-signed RB Kahlil Bell could operate as Chicago's short-yardage and goal-line back in Week 16.
Michael Bush (ribs) is out for the season, while Matt Forte has struggled near the goal-line, so it's not as surprising of a revelation as it might seem. However, Bell will still likely be in line for no more than 5-6 touches, and isn't a recommended flex option in even exceptionally-deep leagues for the fantasy finals.

Tue Dec 18 201209:33Bears brining back RB Kahlil Bell
Bears will re-sign RB Kahlil Bell.
Michael Bush has been active despite sore ribs in each of the last two games, but has only touched the ball once. Look for Bush to rest in Week 16, leaving Bell and Armando Allen to back up Matt Forte.

Tue Dec 11 201211:26Kahlil Bell released by Jets
Jets waived RB Kahlil Bell.
With Shonn Greene and Bilal Powell dominating backfield reps, Bell isn't needed. His roster spot is expected to be used so the Jets can acquire wideout depth -- possibly in the form of Braylon Edwards.

Tue Nov 13 201216:16Jets sign RB Kahlil Bell
Jets signed RB Kahlil Bell, formerly of the Bears.
The Bell signing doesn't say much for Steve Slaton, who was passed over in Tuesday's workout. Unlike Bell, Slaton has experience in Tony Sprano's offense. With Bilal Powell nursing a concussion and Joe McKnight battling a high-ankle sprain, Bell could back up Shonn Greene in Week 11.

Mon Oct 15 201210:39Bears waive running back Kahlil Bell
Bears waived RB Kahlil Bell.
According to the Chicago Tribune's Vaughn McClure, the Bears want a receiver to take Bell's roster spot. Bell played well down the stretch last season, but has been active for just two of Chicago's first six games. With so many teams in need of running backs, it's possible he won't slip through waivers unclaimed.

Sat Sep 15 201214:01Bears leaning towards re-signing RB Bell
Bears worked out free agent running back Steve Slaton on Saturday but are leaning towards re-signing Kahlil Bell.
Matt Forte was injured in Week 2 and will likely miss a month or more with a high ankle sprain, so Chicago is on the lookout for some depth behind Michael Bush and Armando Allen. Bell was cut by the Bears at the end of August after, reportedly, refusing to take a pay cut.

Sat Sep 1 201214:39Kahlil Bell works out for Pats
Free agent RB Kahlil Bell worked out for the Patriots on Saturday.
The Pats are likely just doing their due diligence, though Bell would be an upgrade on undrafted rookie Brandon Bolden. Bolden made the Pats' initial 53-man roster despite averaging just 3.6 yards on his 36 preseason carries while fumbling twice.

Thu Aug 23 201218:35Bears waive RB Kahlil Bell
Bears waived Kahlil Bell.
Bell played an important fantasy role down the stretch last season with 116.3 scrimmage yards per in the final three games of the season. Although Bell is well worth a flier for team with a zone-blocking scheme, he lacks explosiveness, has had ball security issues and was described by Football Outsiders' Ben Muth as the "worst chip-blocker I've seen on film."

Wed Apr 25 201215:08Kahlil Bell signs tender, returns to Chicago
Bears re-signed RB Kahlil Bell to a one-year, $1.26 million deal.
Tendered at the right of first refusal level, Bell had already signed a waiver to participate in the Bears' offseason program. Bell performed well in Matt Forte's absence last season, notably rushing for 123 yards on Christmas night against the Packers, but was pushed to third on the depth chart when Chicago signed Michael Bush. Barring injury to the Bears' top two backs, Bell won't be a factor in fantasy leagues.

Wed Mar 28 201213:12Bears worried about Bell's ball security
Coach Lovie Smith conceded that the Bears had reservations about using Kahlil Bell as their No. 2 running back due to ball security issues.
For now, Matt Forte is the Bears' starter and Michael Bush is No. 2. "We're concerned," Smith said of Bell. "Kahlil can't fumble the ball that much, as well as he played, especially in that Green Bay game. He put the ball on the ground twice. You can't do that." Bell had three fumbles on 79 carries last year.

Mon Mar 12 201215:56Bears tender RFA Kahlil Bell
Bears tendered a contract to restricted free agent RB Kahlil Bell.
He's being tendered at the $1.26 million level. Bell reportedly turned down a two-year offer that included roughly $500,000 guaranteed. He'll most likely re-sign with the Bears, but could draw interest on the heels of his solid performance in the absence of Matt Forte last season. Bell rushed 68 times for 314 yards after Forte was lost for the year in Week 13, adding 19 catches for 133 yards.

Wed Jan 11 201214:57Kahlil Bell is a restricted free agent
The Chicago Tribune confirms that Kahlil Bell will be a restricted free agent this offseason.
Bell has three accrued years, having appeared in seven games in 2009 and 13 this past season. He was on the 53-man roster for all 16 contests in 2010, but didn't play. The lowest one-year restricted tender for a player like Bell would be just over $1.2 million, though they may have to go higher because he was originally undrafted. The next step up would be about $1.9 million.

Sat Dec 31 201110:29Report: Bears hope to keep Kahlil Bell
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Bears would like to re-sign impending exclusive rights free agent Kahlil Bell.
Bell's emergence has been the only good thing to come out of Matt Forte's injury for the Bears, and Schefter reports Chicago would like Bell to back-up Forte in 2012. Bell would also make for a nice insurance policy if Forte, who is likely to be franchise tagged, decides to hold out in hopes of a long-term deal next summer.

Mon Dec 26 201108:42Kahlil Bell impresses Lovie Smith
Coach Lovie Smith heaped praise on Kahlil Bell following the Bears' Week 16 loss to the Packers.
Bell racked up a career-high 121 yards on 23 carries. "Kahlil can do everything you want a good running back to do," Smith said. "He can run with power, he can make you miss in the open field, he can catch the ball out of the backfield." Bell, a restricted free agent after this season, figures to be back in Chicago. The extent of his will role depend on if Matt Forte is back as well.
