Sat Apr 2718:49Thairo Estrada Back In San Francisco Lineup Saturday Night
Veteran middle infielderThairo Estrada(hamstring) reenters the lineup Saturday night for the San Francisco Giants, batting eighth and playing second base against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Estrada was forced out of the game on Wednesday night with hamstring tightness and missed Friday night with the aforementioned Pirates. Estrada is hitting .252 with three home runs and 12 RBI this season and is 4-for-16 with three runs in his last five games for the Giants. It appears Estrada has avoided serious injury by maintaining his spot in the lineup tonight.

Fri Apr 2621:44Thairo Estrada Out Of Lineup On Friday
San Francisco Giants second baseman Thairo Estrada (hamstring) is not in the Giants' lineup for their Friday night tilt against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Estrada was removed from Wednesday's game against the Mets after dealing with hamstring tightness. As of now, Estrada is considered day-to-day. The 28-year-old is slashing .232/.253/.400 on the year so his impact to the Giants and fantasy managers' lineups may be fairly negligible. Tyler Fitzgerald is getting the start in his place and will bat eighth. Should Estrada return this weekend he would see Martin Perez on Saturday and Pirates rookie Jared Jones on Sunday.

Wed Apr 2421:39Thairo Estrada Experiencing Hamstring Tightness
San Francisco Giants second baseman Thairo Estrada (hamstring) exited Wednesday's loss to the visiting New York Mets in the sixth inning due to tightness in his left hamstring after going hitless in two at-bats. Estrada wanted to stay in the game before Jung Hoo Lee replaced him, so it doesn't seem like he's dealing with a significant injury at this time. Consider him day-to-day ahead of Friday's series opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates, and perhaps San Fran's day off on Thursday will be enough to prevent Estrada from missing any additional time. The 28-year-old veteran infielder is batting only .232 (22-for-95) with nine extra-base hits, 12 RBI, 11 runs scored, and zero stolen bases through 26 outings, and his fantasy value will remain diminished until he can climb his way up the Giants' batting order.

Mon Apr 112:36Thairo Estrada Hits First Homer Of The Season
San Francisco Giants second baseman Thairo Estrada went 1-for-4 with his first home run of the season, two RBI, a run scored and two strikeouts in Sunday's 13-4 loss to the San Diego Padres to wrap up the team's first series of the year. In the four-game series in San Diego, which ended in a split, Estrada went 4-for-15 (.267) with the home run, four RBI, two runs scored and four strikeouts. The 28-year-old has hit safely in each of the first four games of the year. He's off to a solid start in 2024 after slashing .271/.315/.416 with a career-high-tying 14 home runs, 49 RBI, a career-high 23 stolen bases and 63 runs scored in 120 games in 2023. Estrada doesn't do anything overly impressive, but his role as San Fran's everyday second baseman gives him fantasy value as a middle-infield option in deep-mixed leagues.

Tue Mar 511:37Thairo Estrada Smacks First Extra-Base Hit Of Spring
San Francisco Giants second baseman Thairo Estrada went 1-for-3 with a double in Saturday's 3-2 Cactus League loss to the San Diego Padres. It was Estrada's first extra-base hit of the spring, and he's now 4-for-15 (.267) with a run scored, no walks, and four strikeouts through five spring games. Estrada is projected to hit out of the second spot in the Giants lineup and has decent contact skills to go along with his ability to steal bases, but his current NFBC ADP of 135 is a bit rich. RotoBaller ranks him at 150 overall.

Sun Sep 10 202311:14Thairo Estrada Goes Deep, Steals Base In Lineup Return
San Francisco Giants second baseman Thairo Estrada (illness), who returned to Saturday's lineup, went 1-for-5 with a home run, three RBI, and a stolen base in the 9-1 drubbing of the Colorado Rockies. The 27-year-old first snapped a 19-game homerless skid with a first-inning two-run shot. Estrada then stole his 20th base of the season after driving in a run on a fielders choice. The speedy infielder provides more value to the Giants with the glove than the stick, but he's still a useful source of batting average, runs, and speed for fantasy purposes. Estrada is batting .272 (113-for-415) with 11 homers, 44 RBI, 55 runs scored and the aforementioned 20 thefts.

Sat Sep 9 202300:16Thairo Estrada Dealing With Conjunctivitis
San Francisco Giants second baseman Thairo Estrada (illness), who was scratched from Friday's lineup versus the Colorado Rockies, is experiencing conjunctivitis. Casey Schmitt watched the keystone and Paul DeJong entered the lineup to cover shortstop in his absence. As Estrada deals with pink eye, it leaves him day-to-day and with his status in question for Saturday's meeting. The speedy infielder has been quiet lately, showing a .226 batting average with just two extra-base hits, three runs scored, and no stolen bases over his last 53 at-bats covering 13 games. Schmitt is in line to gain the most playing time as long as Estrada is out.

Mon Aug 21 202316:48Thairo Estrada Expects To Be Available Monday
Scans came back clean on San Francisco Giants infielder Thairo Estrada (forearm) after he was hit by a pitch on Sunday against the Atlanta Braves. Estrada said he's going to go through treatment during pre-game and expects to be available off the bench on Monday against the Philadelphia Phillies. The 27-year-old should be back in the team's starting lineup on Tuesday. Rookie Casey Schmitt will start at the keystone on Monday and hit ninth against Phillies right-hander Aaron Nola. Estrada has been a decent source of power (10 home runs) and speed (18 stolen) bases in his third year with the Gigantes while also hitting .274/.325/.429 in 84 games.

Sun Aug 20 202319:19Thairo Estrada To Undergo Further Testing
San Francisco Giants infielder Thairo Estrada (hand) is set to undergo further testing after getting hit by a pitch during Sunday's game against the Atlanta Braves. Manager Gabe Kapler mentioned that Estrada was feeling sore after Sunday's game, so the team will play it safe and have him undergo X-rays. It sounds like the Giants are just being cautious here, but fantasy managers should check back after the results come back. For now, fantasy managers should consider Estrada as day-to-day.

Tue Jul 25 202322:49Thairo Estrada Begins Hitting Progression
San Francisco Giants infielder Thairo Estrada (hand) began a hitting progression on Tuesday and also took groundballs. Meanwhile, outfielder Luis Gonzalez (back) is beginning a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento. Estrada is resuming baseball activities, but he's not expected to come off the injured list until sometime in early August. The 27-year-old will need to head out on a minor-league rehab assignment before he's activated. He's had a fine season in his third year in San Francisco, hitting .272/.327/.434 with nine home runs, 18 doubles, a triple, 31 RBI, 18 stolen bases and 46 runs scored in 70 games, making him fantasy relevant in most leagues for his speed. Tue Jul 4 202317:34Thairo Estrada Expected To Be Out 4-6 Weeks
San Francisco Giants manager Gabe Kapler said that infielder Thairo Estrada (hand) is expected to miss four to six weeks with a fractured left hand. The Giants put Estrada on the 10-day injured list on Monday after he was hit by a pitch on his left hand on Sunday, but he's obviously going to miss more than 10 days with his injury. It's a really tough break for the 27-year-old Venezuelan, as he was hitting .272/.327/.434 with nine long balls, 18 doubles, a triple, 31 RBI, 18 stolen bases and 46 runs scored in 315 trips to the plate over 70 games before his injury. Brett Wisely got the nod at the keystone in Monday's game and Casey Schmitt got the start there on Tuesday against the Seattle Mariners. Estrada is only five homers from his career-high in that category and is four stolen bases shy of setting a new career-high mark in thefts.

San Francisco Giants infielder Thairo Estrada (hand) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Monday with a fractured left hand. Estrada was hit on the hand by a pitch on Sunday. The Giants have yet to provide a timetable for Estrada's return, but he is likely to miss at least a few weeks of action. Fri Jun 30 202322:47Can Thairo Estrada Continue His Power And Speed Gains?
San Francisco Giants second baseman Thairo Estrada has shown massive improvements thus far in the power and speed categories compared to where fantasy managers ranked him in the preseason. Compared to his 14 home runs and 21 steals in 140 games in 2022, the 27-year old is currently sitting at nine homers and 18 steals having played just 67 games so far this year. An elevated strikeout rate paired with an unreasonably high .344 BABIP suggest that Estrada will soon face a batting average regression back towards the .260 mark. But the increases in fly ball rate and hard contact rate suggest the 20-homer power may be legit, while the steals speak for themselves. A 20/30 season from a middle infielder who sits in the top-3 of a solid Giants lineup is plenty valuable for any format of fantasy baseball. Until further notice, Estrada has cemented himself as a top-10 second baseman with potential to end up in the top-5 by season's end.

Tue Jun 6 202318:58Joc Pederson, Thairo Estrada Back From IL And Starting
The San Francisco Giants activated outfielder Joc Pederson (hand) and infielder Thairo Estrada (wrist) from the injured list on Tuesday, and both players are starting against right-hander Dinelson Lamet and the Colorado Rockies. Pederson is serving as the designated hitter and batting third, while Estrada is at the keystone and hitting in the two-hole. In corresponding moves, infielder Brett Wisely and outfielder Bryce Johnson were optioned to the minors. Pederson is returning for the first time since landing on the IL on May 15, and he's likely to continue playing only against right-handers. The 31-year-old is hitting .235 with five homers and 18 RBI this year. Estrada, meanwhile, will return to his starting role at the keystone. The 27-year-old has been great with a .301 average, six home runs, 17 RBI, 30 runs and 13 stolen bases in 193 at-bats.

Sat Jun 3 202309:07Thairo Estrada Not Far Off From Return
San Francisco Giants second baseman/shortstop Thairo Estrada (wrist) is nearing a return to the lineup after going through a hitting progression, per manager Gabe Kapler. The 27-year-old has been on the mend since May 25 with a left wrist sprain, but he might only need a minimum stay on the 10-day injured list. Estrada was off to a fine start in 2023, hitting .301 with 30 runs scored, 6 homers, 17 RBI, and 13 stolen bases. Fantasy managers might be able to get the well-rounded infielder back in their lineups early next week without him requiring a rehab assignment. Stay tuned.

San Francisco Giants infielder Thairo Estrada (wrist) has been placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive May 25. The 27-year-old is dealing with a left wrist sprain, but the severity of the injury is unknown right now. The expectation is that Estrada is going to undergo further testing to determine how long he's going to be sidelined. This is a fairly significant blow to the Giants roster considering how well Estrada has been playing this season. He's slashing .301/.345/.466 with six homers, 17 RBI and 13 stolen bases in 46 games this season. In a corresponding move, infielder David Villar has been recalled from Triple-A Sacramento.

San Francisco Giants infielder Thairo Estrada (wrist) landed on the 10-day injured list on Saturday, retroactive to May 26. The 27-year-old has had a productive season, amassing a .301 average with 58 hits, 30 runs, 17 RBI, and 13 stolen bases in 193 at-bats. Wed May 24 202316:38Thairo Estrada Collects A Pair Of Hits In Loss
San Francisco Giants infielder Thairo Estrada went 2-for-5 with a double in a 7-1 loss to the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday.
