Thu Apr 2518:21Trevor Megill Notches First Career Save With Scoreless Ninth
Milwaukee Brewers reliever Trevor Megill tossed a scoreless ninth inning to notch the first save of his career during Thursday's 7-5 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. The 30-year-old has been a pleasant surprise out of the bullpen for the Brewers and has been trusted to face the heart of the opponent's order multiple times this season. He has only given up one run in five appearances thus far and has picked up three holds. The Brewers ninth-inning situation has been a bit sporadic with Devin Williams (back) still recovering from injury, but Megill is now in the mix for saves alongside Joel Payamps. Both players deserve to be rostered in deeper leagues, while Megill holds even more value in formats that count holds as a scoring category.

Wed Apr 312:28Trevor Megill Placed On Seven-Day Concussion List
The Milwaukee Brewers placed right-hander Trevor Megill (concussion) on the seven-day concussion list on Wednesday (retroactive to March 31) and recalled right-hander J.B. Bukauskas from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move. Megill hurt his head after contracting food poisoning. He was feeling faint and fell back and hit his head on the ground, suffering a concussion. Abner Uribe has recorded all three of the team's saves in the early going with Devin Williams (back) sidelined, with Megill serving as a late-inning setup man. The 30-year-old Megill had tossed two scoreless innings with a walk and three strikeouts out of the bullpen in the early going before getting hurt. With Megill out for at least a week, the Brewers' bullpen will be a little more vulnerable in the late innings.

Mon Mar 1101:20Trevor Megill A Spring Training Riser
Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Trevor Megill is off to a nice start this spring, tossing four innings of one-run ball with four strikeouts, and the big right-hander's fantasy stock is also on the rise due to the uncertainty surrounding the health of star closer Devin Williams (back). Williams is going for a second opinion regarding his sore back later this week, with Megill being one of Milwaukee's setup men alongside Joel Payamps for 2024. Even though Payamps has surrendered five earned runs this spring, he is likely to get the first crack at any save chances that would be freed up by any potential Williams absence to start the campaign. Fantasy managers shouldn't forget about Megill, though, after the fire-balling 30-year-old righty presented a 3.63 ERA (2.13 FIP), 1.35 WHIP, and 52:12 K:BB covering 34 2/3 frames for the Brew Crew last season. Keep him on watchlists for the time being.

Thu Jun 22 202312:34Brewers Option Trevor Megill To Minors
The Milwaukee Brewers optioned relief pitcher Trevor Megill to Triple-A Nashville on Thursday. A corresponding roster move will come prior to the series opener against the Cleveland Guardians on Friday. Megill has had his share of struggles in his first year in Milwaukee, posting a 4.91 ERA (2.19 FIP), 1.43 WHIP, seven walks and 20 strikeouts in 14 2/3 relief innings in 2023. Prior to allowing three runs in 1 1/3 frames against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday, the 29-year-old right-hander had six straight scoreless appearances. Megill has been even worse in the minor leagues this year, but if he turns things around, he'll most likely be back in the Brewers' bullpen at some point in the second half of the season.

Mon Oct 3 202208:45Trevor Megill Removed From Sunday's Game
Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Trevor Megill (oblique) exited early during Sunday's game against the Detroit Tigers. The 28-year-old bounced a warmup pitch during the seventh inning. He was immediately lifted after that for precautionary reasons due to oblique tightness. Megill has a 4.80 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 49/17 K/BB ratio across 45 innings this season. His 2022 campaign could very well be done after suffering that injury.

Tue Nov 30 202116:36Twins Claim Trevor Megill Off Waivers
The Minnesota Twins have claimed right-handed pitcher Trevor Megill off waivers from the Chicago Cubs, according to a tweet from Dustin Morse, who works in the Twins' communications department. Megill made his Major League debut for the Cubs last season, throwing 23.2 innings while registering 30 strikeouts and eight walks. He pitched to an 8.37 ERA and a 5.62 FIP in those 23.2 innings and will give the Twins some extra bullpen depth heading into next season. Only nine teams had a bullpen with a higher FIP than Minnesota's group of relief pitchers last season.
