Baker will not receive a suspension for his hit on Eagles quarterback Nick Foles in Sunday's loss, Mark Maske of the Washington Post reports.
The league office determined that although Baker's hit might have looked like an apparent cheap shot, it wasn't illegal by the letter of the law, as the defensive lineman avoided Foles' head and didn't lead with his helmet. Baker will be cleared to start Thursday's showdown with the Giants, assuming the ankle injury he sustained over the weekend doesn't prove too uncomfortable during practices.

Redskins extended restricted free agent NT Chris Baker the original-pick tender.
It's a little surprising Baker was tendered at all. The Redskins are now scheduled to pay him $1.323 million after 25-year-old Baker played under 220 defensive snaps last season. They must not be in love with Chris Neild.

Tue Dec 6 201119:33Redskins sign TE Chris Baker
Redskins signed TE Chris Baker, formerly of the Seahawks.
Baker had been a blocking specialist the past two seasons with New England and Seattle. His receiving skills are superior to those of Logan Paulsen, but he's been out of the league all season. We're not expecting a fantasy impact from either of the Redskins tight ends. Hold off even in deeper leagues.
