Sat Oct 10 201514:13The Broncos released Casey on Saturday
The Broncos released Casey on Saturday, Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports.
Casey was active for three games this year but did not record any statistics. He was removed from the roster to open up a spot for Derek Wolfe, who is returning from a suspension.
Sat Apr 11 201512:55Casey agreed to one-year deal with Broncos on Saturday
Casey agreed to a one-year deal with the Broncos on Saturday.
Casey was a disappointing and not particularly cheap free agent bust in Philadelphia, but the former Rice star has a lot of versatility both on offense and special teams, and he should provide cheap utility behind Owen Daniels and Virgil Green.
Thu Feb 19 201516:42The Eagles have released Casey
The Eagles have released Casey, the team's official site reports.
The move leaves the Eagles with Brent Celek, Zach Ertz and Trey Burton at the tight end position for now, while Casey -- who caught just three passes for 59 yards and two TDs this past season -- will now look to catch on elsewhere as a depth TE.
Sun Feb 16 201413:19Casey's salary becomes guaranteed on 3/16
No. 3 TE James Casey's $3.985 million base salary becomes guaranteed if he's on the Eagles' roster as of March 16.
Casey only played 14 percent of Philly's 2013 offensive snaps, while Brent Celek handled 77 and Zach Ertz 41. Casey's role as a blocker did expand some down the stretch, but his price tag is awfully high for a theoretical third stringer. The Eagles may ask Casey to accept a sizable pay cut, or release him outright.

Sat Jan 25 201419:10James Casey could be asked to take pay cut
Eagles TE James Casey has a $3.99 million base salary in 2014.
Casey saw limited playing time in an H-back role for the Eagles this season, finishing with just 168 offensive snaps. With both Zach Ertz and Brent Celek under contract in 2014, he'll likely need to take a pay cut to avoid being released. Casey will be no higher than the Eagles' No. 3 tight end if he returns.

Fri Sep 20 201311:03James Casey has played just eight snaps
Eagles H-back James Casey has played just eight snaps in the season's first three games.
The Eagles handed Casey a three-year, $12 million contract with a $3.3 million signing bonus on the opening day of free agency. He's likely not going to see the field much unless one of Brent Celek or Zach Ertz gets injured.

Eagles H-back James Casey (hamstring) resumed practicing Wednesday.

Thu Aug 29 201320:02James Casey leaves with hamstring injury Fri.
Eagles H-back James Casey exited Thursday night's preseason finale with a hamstring injury and will not return.
Casey has been battling injuries ever since he signed with the Eagles. He underwent a right knee scope in May but was cleared in time for camp. Entering Thursday night's exhibition, Casey had played just 45 snaps this preseason. Tight end once looked like a strength of the Eagles, but Casey is injured and rookie Zach Ertz has been battling a severe case of the drops. We'll consider Casey day-to-day. He's well off the fantasy radar.

Tue Aug 13 201308:49James Casey doesn't get a snap with the 1s
James Casey did not get a single snap with the starters during last week's preseason opener.
The first-team offense used more than one tight end on just six of their 21 plays. Brent Celek was in on all 21 of those plays, but stayed in to block on 11 of them and posted two catches for 10 yards. Rookie Zach Ertz was used as the "move" tight end, posting two catches for 10 yards as well. Casey is far off the fantasy radar.

Sat Jul 20 201322:37James Casey cleared for training camp
Eagles TE/H-back James Casey has been cleared for training camp after undergoing a right knee scope in late May.
The injury kept Casey out of mandatory minicamp, but he'll be a full-go for contact work. Eagles beat writers didn't have much of a chance to see how Casey will be employed under rookie coach Chip Kelly. Kelly's offense is decidedly run-based, but Casey will be a TE2 prospect to monitor this preseason.

Thu May 23 201311:19James Casey undergoes scope, out until camp
James Casey underwent arthroscopic surgery to clean out loose cartilage in his right knee.
Casey, who signed a three-year, $12M contract with the Eagles in March, will miss the rest of spring workouts. He is expected to be ready for training camp. It's a setback for a player trying to learn Chip Kelly's offense and competing for snaps with both Brent Celek and rookie Zach Ertz. Casey was barely on the TE2 radar anyway.

Tue Mar 12 201320:03Eagles sign their 'Joker': TE/FB James Casey
Eagles agreed to terms with TE/FB James Casey, formerly of the Texans, to a three-year, $14.5 million contract.
Casey, 28, posted career highs in catches (34), yards (330), and touchdowns (3) last season despite being used incorrectly by the Texans' coaching staff. Casey was often asked to play fullback, but he is a natural tight end and terrific pass catcher at 6-foot-3 and 243 pounds. While we don't necessarily anticipate big fantasy stats, Casey will give Michael Vick an intriguing weapon down the seam and underneath in Chip Kelly's four-wide spread attack.

Tue Mar 12 201316:26Eagles schedule visit with James Casey
The Eagles have scheduled a free-agent visit with TE James Casey.
28-year-old Casey is a swiss army knife offensive weapon capable of both lead blocking and stretching the seam at tight end. We've liked him as one of this year's top free-agent sleepers. Casey has also drawn interest from Miami.

Tue Mar 12 201316:03Casey drawing interest from Eagle, Dolphins
The Houston Chronicle reports the Eagles and Dolphins are interested in free agent FB/TE James Casey.
Casey would be a nice movable piece in just about any offense, but he sure would look good in the Eagles' spread attack under coach Chip Kelly. Casey can be a lead blocker, too, so it will certainly increase his value.

Thu Feb 21 201316:05Texans would like to re-sign FB/TE Casey
Coach Gary Kubiak says the Texans would like to re-sign free agent FB/TE James Casey.
Casey is a valuable, movable piece to the Houston offense. In 2012, he set career-highs in catches (34), yards (330), and touchdowns (three), while also working as Arian Foster's lead blocker at times. Casey checks in as our No. 7 free-agent tight end, but his versatility could increase his value.

Tue Dec 11 201200:56Casey catches one pass in Week 14
James Casey caught just one pass for 30 yards in Week 14 versus New England.
Casey saw just the one target. With Garrett Graham out with a concussion, some thought Casey had sneaky value on Monday night, but it didn't amount to anything. He's caught just one pass in each of the past two games. Casey isn't worthy of a fantasy roster spot.

Sun Dec 2 201217:55Casey hauls in a score in Week 13 win
James Casey caught one pass for a five-yard touchdown in Sunday's Week 13 win over the Titans.
Casey has been seeing plenty of playing time this season along with fellow TE Garrett Graham. Graham exited with a concussion before hafltime, though. After Casey's first quarter score put the Texans up 14-3, Houston sat on the ball for the remainder of the game. Casey isn't worthy of an add in fantasy.

Thu Nov 22 201216:51James Casey hauls in four more catches
James Casey caught four passes for 38 yards in the Texans' Week 12 overtime win over the Lions.
With Kevin Walter unable to make plays opposite Andre Johnson, the Texans are using two-tight end sets as their base. It's resulted in 28 catches for Casey on the season, but there's no reason for owners to make an add. He's behind Andre Johnson and Owen Daniels on a team that will be running much more than throwing most weeks.
