Titans waived WR Kevin Walter.
Walter was schedule to be an unrestricted free agent, but was waived with a failed physical. Walter's faulty back prevented him from playing a snap for the Titans in 2013. Walter, who is 32 and is coming off a serious back injury, will be hard pressed to find opportunities this offseason.

Tue Nov 19 201315:21TEN not activating Kevin Walter from PUP list
The Titans will not activate WR Kevin Walter (back) from the reserve/PUP list by Tuesday's deadline, ending his season.
According to coach Mike Munchak, the Titans will "monitor Walter moving forward to determine if he's worth taking a chance on in 2014." The longtime Texan didn't play a snap for the Titans after signing in April. Going on 33 with a serious back injury to his name, Walter is going to have trouble drumming up interest in free agency.

Tue Nov 12 201318:38Kevin Walter not expected to play this season
Titans coach Mike Munchak "indicated" Tuesday that WR Kevin Walter (back, PUP) is unlikely to play this season.
Walter has encountered some "issues" in his recovery from back surgery. Walter went under the knife just before camp, and suffered a setback in October. Signed to a one-year deal in April, Walter will likely head back to the open market without ever playing a game for the Titans.

Fri Nov 1 201315:55Kevin Walter remains out indefinitely
Titans WR Kevin Walter (back, PUP) is not expected back before "near the very end of the season."
Walter recently experienced two weeks worth of back spasms, and is now recovering from nerve damage in his leg. The Titans do not have a receiver need, and no reason to rush back Walter. It's possible he won't play at all in '13.

Kevin Walter (back, PUP) suffered a "minor" setback in his recovery last week.
Walter is eligible to come off PUP as early as Monday, but the Titans say he's not particularly close to a return. The 32-year-old underwent disc surgery in late July. It's possible he doesn't play at all this season.

Titans placed WR Kevin Walter (back surgery) on the reserve/PUP list.
Walter underwent surgery just before camp. He'll be eligible to return in Week 7, but it's unclear where he'll fit into the Titans' receiver corps. The 32-year-old wideout is well off the fantasy radar.

Thu Aug 22 201317:43Kevin Walter expected to start season on PUP
Titans WR Kevin Walter (back surgery) is expected to start the season on reserve/PUP.
Walter underwent surgery in late-July to repair a disk is his back. His timetable for recovery was initially expected to last just 4-5 weeks, but considering Walter's age it's not a surprise it's taking longer. The 32-year-old will be sidelined the first six weeks of the season, then will be reevaluated.

Wed Jul 24 201311:27Kevin Walter starts out on active/PUP
Titans placed WR Kevin Walter (back) on the active/PUP list.
Walter missed June OTAs due to lower back soreness and a subsequent scope. He should resume practicing shortly, but he'll be a role player in the Titans' crowded receiving corps.

Tue Jul 2 201314:04Titans could keep six wide receivers
The Nashville Tennessean believes the Titans might opt to keep six receivers.
That would be good news for Kevin Walter, as he'd be the odd-man-out in a five-man group if the Titans keep Nate Washington. Michael Preston and Marc Mariani are also competing for roster spots. Walter missed the majority of OTAs with a back injury, but will supposedly be ready for training camp.

Sat Jun 22 201319:49Walter (back) expected to be ready for camp
Kevin Walter (back) is expected to be ready for training camp.
Walter missed all of minicamp with lower back soreness, but it was never a major concern. With Nate Washington considered a lock for the 53-man roster, he's competing Damian Williams for the Titans' No. 5 receiver job.

Tue Jun 18 201316:54WR Walter (back) not taking part in minicamp
Kevin Walter (back) will be sidelined until training camp.
Walter has barely practiced since signing in April, and is starting to hurt his roster chances. At this point, Walter might need Tennessee to renege on its promise of keeping Nate Washington to have a real shot at making the 53-man roster.

Mon Apr 1 201317:39Titans sign WR Kevin Walter
Titans signed WR Kevin Walter, formerly of the Texans.
Walter, who turns 32 before the season, caught 41 balls for 518 yards (12.6 YPR) and two touchdowns last year across 16 games (14 starts). A reliable possession receiver and plus blocker, Walter lacks big-play ability and has never been much of a touchdown scorer. He'll add depth in Nashville with Nate Washington on his way out. Walter should not be a candidate to start.

Tue Mar 26 201316:27Kevin Walter, Stokley visiting the Titans
Free agent WR Kevin Walter is visiting the Titans on Tuesday.
As is Brandon Stokley. It's the first we've heard of Walter since he was cut loose by the Texans on the first day of free agency. The Titans have a crowded receiver corps, but would be short on veteran experience if Nate Washington is traded or released, as expected. Walter is durable and sure-handed, but offers little as a play-maker. He'd be a downgrade from Washington.

Tue Mar 12 201313:39Texans moving on from No. 2 WR Kevin Walter
Texans released WR Kevin Walter.
It's a move that's been long in the making. Walter is tough in traffic and a dependable blocker, but one of the league's least effective No. 2 receivers. He's held the Texans' offense back for years. The move clears $2.5 million in cap space, and allows the Texans to experiment with more explosive options opposite Andre Johnson. Keshawn Martin and Lestar Jean are both possibilities, but the Texans will surely be on the lookout for receiving help in the draft and free agency. DeVier Posey is recovering from a torn Achilles' tendon.

Thu Mar 7 201313:10Kevin Walter a candidate to be released?
ESPN's Paul Kuharsky considers Kevin Walter a candidate to be released.
Walter has two years left on his deal and is due $3.5 million in 2013, but cutting him would save the Texans $2.5 million against the cap. Walter is no more than a blocker, and finding a capable No. 2 receiver to play opposite Andre Johnson is Houston's top priority.

Fri Feb 1 201312:33Texans owner reiterates need for another WR
Texans owner Bob McNair reiterated the team's desire to add a No. 2 receiver.
McNair thinks the team will mostly keep building through the draft. "It depends on what's available when our pick comes up. If we had an outstanding wide receiver who was available at that point in time, I don't doubt we'd take him," McNair said. Houston holds the No. 27 pick in the 2013 draft. The top receiver prospects include Keenan Allen, Cordarrelle Patterson, and Tavon Austin, among others. The Texans badly need to upgrade on Kevin Walter.

Sun Jan 13 201321:24Kevin Walter held to 15 yards in playoff loss
Kevin Walter managed just two receptions on two targets for 15 yards in Sunday's Divisional round loss at New England.
Walter was outproduced by not only rookie DeVier Posey but also FB James Casey. Due to earn $3.15 million in 2013 after losing snaps to a more dangerous Posey down the stretch, Walter could be a cap casualty entering his age-31 season.

Sun Dec 30 201217:30Walter makes three catches in loss to Colts
Kevin Walter had three catches for 51 yards in Sunday's Week 17 loss to the Colts.
Walter didn't record his first catch until midway through the third quarter and the majority of his yards came in deficit-induced comeback mode. While he remains one of the better blocking receivers in the league, Walter will finish with his lowest yardage total since 2006. He remains under contract through 2014, but none of his remaining $7 million in salary is guaranteed.

Sun Dec 23 201217:23Kevin Walter nearly gets a TD
Kevin Walter caught one pass for 12 yards in the Texans' Week 16 loss to the Vikings.
Walter caught a quick-hitter on a pick play and appeared to get into the end zone for his first touchdown of the year. But upon second look, his knee came down while the ball was at the one-yard line. Walter will take just 467 yards into the regular season finale as an afterthought in the Texans' offense.
