Wed Sep 2 201517:00Alexander signed with Raiders on Wednesday
Alexander signed with the Raiders on Wednesday, the team's official site reports.
Alexander played specials teams almost exclusively the last two seasons with the Cardinals, racking up 17 tackles (15 solo) and one sack in 19 games. While he was penciled in as the starting weak-side linebacker at the outset of training camp, he lost the spot over time to free-agent addition LaMarr Woodley and was jettisoned at the first cut-down date. With the Raiders, expect Alexander to be a mainstay on special teams, while acting as LB depth.

Alexander has lined up with the first-team defense at outside linebacker during OTAs, the Cardinals' official site reports. Noting his versatility, coach Bruce Arians stated, "He can play outside because he's got a good motor for a pass rusher and he's a heavy-handed blitzer up the middle."
After inking a three-year deal with the Cardinals during the 2013 offseason, Alexander sustained a lis Franc foot injury in Week 3, missing the remainder of his first campaign in the Arizona desert. He proceeded to appear in every game last season but relayed that he was working at 70 percent capacity, which contained him primarily to special-teams duty. Now that he's running on all cylinders, his ability to work at all four LB spots should afford Alexander more of a presence on the defensive side of the equation in 2015.
Wed Apr 2 201413:36Cardinals moving LB Lorenzo Alexander inside
The Cardinals are moving OLB Lorenzo Alexander to inside linebacker.
It never made sense to have Alexander on the outside in Arizona's 3-4 defense in the first place. He doesn't bring anything to the table as a pass rusher. At inside 'backer, Alexander will compete for playing time behind Daryl Washington and Kevin Minter. Alexander is an ace on special teams.

Wed Apr 2 201409:32Alexander plans to participate in OTAs
Cardinals OLB Lorenzo Alexander (Lisfranc) said he plans to participate in OTAs and minicamp.
Alexander tore his right Lisfranc tendon on Sept. 22, 2013. He'll likely be a limited participant in the offseason program and then ramp up his activity at training camp. If healthy, Alexander is an elite special teamer and quality depth at the outside 'backer spot.

Mon Feb 24 201412:39Lorenzo Alexander's rehab not going smoothly
Coach Bruce Arians suggested OLB Lorenzo Alexander's rehab from a right Lisfranc injury is not going smoothly.
Alexander, an elite special teamer and rotational linebacker, went down in September and still isn't right. "I'm a little concerned with Lorenzo's foot right now," Arians said at the Combine. "Hopefully it will show improvement." Alexander signed a three-year, $9.5 million contract that included $3 million guaranteed a year ago.

Mon Sep 23 201312:26Cards lose WLB Alexander for season
Cardinals placed WLB Lorenzo Alexander (Lisfranc) on injured reserve, ending his season.
The Cardinals are really missing the suspended Daryl Washington now. Alexander, an elite special teamer during his time in Washington, was playing a rotational role on the weak-side. He signed a three-year, $9.5 million contract that included $3 million guaranteed back in March. Washington is due back Week 5.

Wed Mar 13 201320:50Lorenzo Alexander to start for Cardinals?
Newly signed ILB Lorenzo Alexander says the Cardinals have "pegged" him in a starting role.
Alexander has been an elite special teamer throughout his career and was recruited as such by teams like the 49ers. But the Cardinals can offer a chance to start next to beast Daryl Washington in addition to a core special teams role. "The Cardinals have already kind of pegged me in a starting role which is very exciting for me," Alexander said. "I'll be a linebacker that helps out on special teams instead of special teams being my bread and butter."

Cardinals signed ILB Lorenzo Alexander, formerly of the Redskins, to a three-year contract.
It's an underrated signing as Alexander is one of the league's premier special teamers. He can also help fill a need spot for the Cardinals next to dominant inside 'backer Daryl Washington. Alexander had 47 tackles and 2.5 sacks in spot duty for the Redskins last season.

Tue Mar 12 201318:33Alexander, Cribbs may sign with Arizona
FOX Sports' Alex Marvez reports free agents ILB Lorenzo Alexander and Josh Cribbs are "leaning toward" signing with the Cardinals.
The 49ers were at one point deemed the favorites for Cribbs, but things can change quickly in a hectic market. Alexander would probably not be a candidate to start in Arizona. He is one of the league's better special teamers.

FOXSports.com reports that free agent ILB Lorenzo Alexander is receiving interest from "multiple" teams with the Redskins looking unlikely to re-sign him.
The Redskins want to keep Alexander, but they're latest offers aren't going to be enough to prevent him from reaching the open market. A Pro Bowler on special teams in 2012, Alexander should be able to land a multi-year deal this offseason.

Free agent ILB Lorenzo Alexander says he hopes to re-sign with the Redskins, but that their intial offer was "not close" to what he's looking for.
Both sides want to get a deal done, while Alexander says he's willing to take a small hometown discount. "I'm willing to take less for the Redskins, but they have to be close. They can't be way off." A special teams linchpin, Alexander played 308 snaps on defense in 2012.

Wed May 9 201220:15Lorenzo Alexander learning some tight end
Redskins ILB Lorenzo Alexander will take reps at tight end during OTAs.
"They've got me over there learning some of the tight end position," he said. "But it's more so being ready like I was last year, instead of just throwing me in there when somebody got hurt." Alexander would likely primarily be a blocking tight end. Position flexibility makes him more valuable to the Redskins.

Tue Apr 17 201213:01Lorenzo Alexander moving to ILB
The Redskins plan to use LB Lorenzo Alexander as their primary reserve inside linebacker.
He'll back-up London Fletcher and Perry Riley. Alexander started 12 games at outside linebacker in 2010, but played primarily special teams in 2011, making just 16 tackles. He won't be worth monitoring in IDP leagues.

Sat Jun 4 201112:41Lorenzo Alexander practicing at ILB
Redskins OLB Lorenzo Alexander took snaps at inside linebacker during a recent player-led minicamp.
Poised to lose his starting OLB gig to first-round pick Ryan Kerrigan, the versatile Alexander, a special teamer by trade, is trying to make himself as valuable as possible. "They're always trying to replace me, so I figure I've got to learn everything to make it as hard on them as possible." He's not likely to see snaps at ILB in 2011.

Wed May 4 201111:33Alexander loses starting job to Kerrigan
Redskins OLB Lorenzo Alexander will lose his temporary starting gig with first-rounder Ryan Kerrigan now in the fold.
Alexander was never meant to be more than a special teamer and key reserve at linebacker, as he lacks pass-rushing ability. Last season, coach Mike Shanahan praised him as the best special teamer he's ever coached.

Mon Apr 11 201111:13Alexander in trouble on outside
Coach Mike Shanahan said that adding an outside pass rusher is high on his priority list.
The Redskins badly need someone to attack the quarterback along with Brian Orakpo, and Lorenzo Alexander is not that guy. The Washington Post suggests that North Carolina OLB Robert Quinn would be a good fit at No. 10 overall. The Redskins recorded just 29 sacks last season, tied for 25th in the league.
