Wed Mar 13 201313:09Report: Anderson likely to stick w/ Carolina
Sources tell the Charlotte Observer that free agent QB Derek Anderson is expected to re-sign with the Panthers.
There was chatter that Anderson would be following Rob Chudzinski back to Cleveland, where DA somehow made a Pro Bowl in 2007. Instead, he'll stick with the Panthers as Cam Newton's backup. Anderson has reportedly "drawn praise for his attitude" in Carolina's quarterback room.

Mon Jan 14 201310:54Derek Anderson following Chud to Browns?
The Browns have reportedly been in contact with impending free agent Derek Anderson about re-joining Rob Chudzinski in Cleveland.
If so, it would be a violation of the league's tampering rules because free agency hasn't begun. Anderson hinted on his Facebook page that a deal was already in the works to return to Cleveland as a backup QB. "Looks like it is time to make a return to a familiar place for some unfinished business," said Anderson. "I'd be honored to return to Cleveland to play football if the fans would have me."

Mon Sep 5 201114:22Derek Anderson unseats Jimmy Clausen
Derek Anderson is listed as the Panthers' No. 2 quarterback on their latest depth chart, ahead of Jimmy Clausen.
Anderson overtook Clausen by going 11-of-19 for 192 yards and a touchdown in the exhibition finale. Clausen labored all preseason, finishing with a 52.2 completion percentage on 46 attempts, a 5.7 YPA, one touchdown, and two interceptions. Anderson is also a favorite of new Panthers OC Rob Chudzinski.

Sun Aug 14 201113:14Derek Anderson not seeing reps in camp
Cam Newton and Jimmy Clausen have received almost all of the camp reps at quarterback.
Coach Ron Rivera insisted Derek Anderson would compete for the starting job, but his actions tell a different story. Newton and Clausen will continue to rotate first-teams snaps, leaving Anderson as the odd man out. John Skelton conceded that Anderson wasn't much of a mentor in Arizona last season, so there's really no reason to keep him on the roster as a third QB.

Sun Jul 31 201120:21Report: Panthers sign QB Derek Anderson
The Oregonian is reporting that the Panthers have signed free agent QB Derek Anderson.
If so, "Cam Newton's chances of starting just went way up," as Rotoworld's Chris Wesseling put it. Anderson has familiarity with new Panthers OC Rob Chudzinski, under whom "D.A." had his career year back in 2007. Anderson's confidence has been shot since a concussion-filled 2008 season, however, and his accuracy was never NFL-caliber. For the future of the Panthers, we don't like the signing one bit. A game-managing veteran would have been far more preferable, even if that kind of a player possesses no upside.

Tue Jul 26 201114:44Cardinals will release QB Derek Anderson
The Cardinals will reportedly release QB Derek Anderson.
Anderson stands as a bipedal monument to short-sightedness and a lack of scouting acumen in Arizona. A career 52.6 percent passer, a scattershot Anderson held the offense hostage early in the season before getting pulled for undrafted rookie Max Hall. Anderson was due to earn just over $4 million. He will be lucky to collect half of that in a pure backup role this year.

Wed Mar 2 201114:04Derek Anderson unlikely to return
The Arizona Republic's Kent Somers confirms that Derek Anderson "likely won't return" to the Cardinals.
ESPN's Adam Schefter recently reported that Anderson was a candidate for release as early as this week. While Somers doesn't anticipate the move so soon, there's no way he would be asked back with a $4,087,500 salary for 2011.

Wed Dec 22 201015:38Derek Anderson medically cleared
Cardinals QB Derek Anderson (concussion) has been medically cleared and resumed practicing Wednesday.
Anderson might back up John Skelton on Saturday night, but won't get the start. Hall and Anderson are competing for No. 2 duties in practice this week.

Tue Dec 21 201008:23Anderson still not medically cleared
Derek Anderson (concussion) still has not been medically cleared to play.
Barring something drastic, he's not going to throw another pass for the Cardinals. Coach Ken Whisenhunt has already committed to John Skelton, regardless of Anderson's condition.

Wed Dec 15 201015:41Derek Anderson still not medically cleared
Cardinals QB Derek Anderson (concussion) still hasn't been medically cleared.
The Cards may be hoping that Anderson can return to No. 2 on the depth chart for the last few games, but that's far from a lock based on his slow recovery. Due a $3.9 million salary in 2011, D.A. has probably played his last snap as a Cardinal. Some silver lining to the season for Arizona fans.

Sun Dec 12 201014:53Cardinals declare inactives
Cardinals declared QB Derek Anderson, WR Max Komar, CB A.J. Jefferson, S Hamza Abdullah, CB Marshay Green, C Ben Claxton, DT Gabe Watson, and LB Gerald Hayes inactive for Week 14.
Hayes' absence is another bit of good news for Knowshon Moreno's matchup. The Cardinals have shut their retractable roof for Sunday's game, so the Broncos and Cards will be playing indoors. Expect plenty of scoring.
Fri Dec 10 201014:57Derek Anderson listed as doubtful
Derek Anderson (concussion) is listed as doubtful for Week 14.
Anderson didn't take a single practice rep this week and has yet to be medically cleared. The Cardinals don't even know if he'll be able to serve as the No. 3 quarterback against the Broncos. John Skelton beat out Richard Bartel on the practice field this week and will start Sunday's game.
Thu Dec 9 201014:58Derek Anderson yet to pass concussion tests
As of Thursday afternoon, Derek Anderson had yet to pass his concussion tests.
He's not going to play this week. The Cardinals have to make it official, but rookie John Skelton is fully expected to make his first NFL start against the Broncos.

Thu Dec 9 201008:48Anderson won't necessarily start if healthy
Derek Anderson (concussion) has yet to be cleared, but he won't necessarily start this weekend even if he is cleared before Sunday, according to the Arizona Republic's Kent Somers.
John Skelton and Richard Bartel shared snaps in Wednesday's practice. Skelton is the heavy favorite to start, but the Cardinals wanted Bartel to get in some snaps, most likely just in case something should happen to Skelton and he were forced to play. It's obviously a situation for fantasy owners to avoid.

Wed Dec 8 201015:23Derek Anderson misses practice
Derek Anderson (concussion) missed Cardinals practice Wednesday.
John Skelton and Richard Bartel shared snaps in the session, which probably makes about the least amount of sense of any maneuver made by a coaching staff all year. Bartel just signed off the street, and Skelton could benefit from getting all of the first-team snaps considering he's only taken eight all season and is the heavy favorite to start on Sunday.

Tue Dec 7 201016:39Derek Anderson hasn't passed baseline test
The Cardinals confirmed that Derek Anderson sustained a concussion last week, and he's yet to pass his baseline tests.
Anderson won't be cleared to practice Wednesday, and the Cardinals aren't planning on having him available against the Broncos in Week 14. John Skelton is expected to "compete" with newly signed Richard Bartel for the starting job. It's entirely possible that Skelton would be given the nod even if Anderson was healthy.

Mon Dec 6 201013:15Whisenhunt unsure on who will start at QB
Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt is unsure who will start at quarterback in Week 14.
"We are going to look at it," Whiz said. "We have injury issues and performance issues." Derek Anderson is being evaluated for a possible concussion, so he'll have to be cleared of that before he even gets consideration for the Week 14 start. Max Hall separated his shoulder and is likely done for the year. The Cards may be forced to go with rookie John Skelton even though Whiz has said himself he doesn't think Skelton is ready. It's clearly a situation to avoid for fantasy purposes.
