Free agent OLB Clark Haggans is not considering retirement.
Haggans turned 36 last month and wrapped up his thirteenth season in the NFL, his first with the 49ers. Haggans appeared in just nine games due to a shoulder injury and three-game suspension stemming from a DUI arrest. He has 46.5 career sacks, playing strictly in 3-4 defenses.

Tue Sep 18 201219:2749ers OLB Haggans suspended three games
49ers OLB Clark Haggans has been suspended three games for violating the league's substance abuse policy.
The suspension stems from a 2011 DUI arrest. It's certainly not a big loss for the 49ers defense, as Haggans didn't player in either of the first two games. He's eligible to return Oct. 8, after the 49ers play the Bills.

Sun Sep 2 201218:0349ers sign OLB Clark Haggans
49ers signed OLB Clark Haggans, formerly of the Cardinals.
Per the Sacramento Bee's Matt Barrows, Haggans is facing a possible three-game suspension, likely stemming from his 2011 DUI. If discipline is handed down promptly, Haggans could open the year on San Francisco's reserve-suspended list, and not cost the team a roster spot. Though Haggans' pass-rush ability has evaporated at age 35, he can still set the edge in run defense.

Sun Sep 2 201209:1249ers expected to sign OLB Clark Haggans
The 49ers are expected to sign free agent OLB Clark Haggans on Sunday.
The 35-year-old Haggans was released by the Cardinals on Friday. The Niners are badly in need of depth at the position with only Parys Haralson on the depth chart behind starters Aldon Smith and Ahmad Brooks. Neither rookie drafted in April - Darius Fleming (PUP) and Cam Johnson (Practice Squad) - has panned out thus far.

Wed Jul 25 201208:53Clark Haggans unsure about discipline
Cardinals OLB Clark Haggans said he's unsure if he'll face league discipline stemming from his 2011 DUI.
The incident occurred during the lockout, which might put Haggans in the clear. He did serve jail time in Pennsylvania this summer after pleading guilty to "extreme DUI." Haggans projects as the Cards' primary backup behind Sam Acho and O'Brien Schofield at outside linebacker this season.

Wed Jun 20 201217:41Clark Haggans is currently serving jail time
Cardinals OLB Clark Haggans is currently serving jail time in Arizona for a 2011 DUI arrest.
Unbeknownst at the time, Haggans was convicted of DUI on April 21, 2011. He eventually pleaded guilty to "extreme DUI" and was sentenced to nine days behind bars in addition to 36 days of home detentions. Because Haggans was convicted, he could be subject to a short league suspension. It's not a given, of course.

Tue Jun 5 201212:53Cardinals bring back LB Clark Haggans
Cardinals re-signed LB Clark Haggans to a one-year deal.
Undrafted free agent LB Broderick Binns was waived in a corresponding move. A 16-game starter for the Cardinals at outside linebacker last season, Haggans hadn't made any known visits in free agency. His re-signing could be a sign of a lack of faith in O'Brien Schofield, who is currently penciled in as the Cards' left outside linebacker, but making his way back from surgeries on both shoulders. Schofield needs to have a strong camp.

Tue Jun 14 201118:07Haggans expected to keep roster spot
While Joey Porter is a candidate to be released this summer, fellow veteran outside linebacker Clark Haggans (sports hernia surgery) is expected to keep his job.
Haggans may have to hold off competition from Will Davis, but his leadership will keep him on the roster regardless. Though he's a coaching staff favorite, the 34-year-old finished right alongside Porter as the two least effective 3-4 OLBs in Pro Football Focus' ratings last season.

Mon Jan 3 201113:53Cardinals OLB Haggans to have hernia surgery
Cardinals OLB Clark Haggans will undergo surgery soon to repair a sports hernia.
These procedures are usually assigned short recovery times, but are concerning for aging players, and Haggans is 34. Still coming off one of his better seasons, Haggans finished with five sacks, 48 tackles, and a fumble forced in 13 starts. He'd be better utilized as an early-down outside 'backer in 2011, being replaced by a more explosive rusher in passing sets.

Tue Nov 23 201009:43Whiz expects Haggans to play in Week 12
Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt expects LOLB Clark Haggans (groin) to be available for Week 12.
Haggans hasn't suited up since Week 7 but will be needed now that the player who was filling in for him, Will Davis, has been lost for the season. Whisenhunt said rookie O'Brien Schofield, who replaced the injured Davis Sunday, is improving, but the coach isn't ready for him to play "a significant amount of snaps." Expect Haggans to start against the 49ers.

Thu Nov 11 201009:05Haggans expects to sit out again
Cardinals LOLB Clark Haggans (groin) expects to return to action within two weeks.
Haggans was unable to practice Wednesday, as the groin is still really limiting him. Will Davis, who has filled in for Haggans the last two weeks, could be in line to make another start in Haggans' place, though he's dealing with a minor knee injury of his own.

Cardinals starting LOLB Clark Haggans left Sunday's loss to the Seahawks with a groin injury and did not return.
Haggans has two sacks on the year, but he is primarily thought to be a run stuffer. The Cardinals are currently 29th in the league against the run.
