Rivers completed 35-of-48 passes for 365 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Monday night's loss to the Steelers.
Rivers hooked up with long-time favorite target Antonio Gates on both his touchdown passes Monday, but otherwise distributed his targets incredibly well. To that point, Rivers completed at least five passes to five different players, helping him set a season-high with 35 completions. Similarly, Rivers' whopping 365 yards marked the third time he's topped 350 yards in a game already this season. Although his lone interception Monday was returned for a touchdown, Rivers was still plenty productive and continues to rack up yardage in the Chargers' pass heavy offense.

Rivers completed 23-of-38 passes for 358 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's 30-27 win over the Browns.
Rivers was strong throughout, even without Stevie Johnson (hamstring) and Malcom Floyd (concussion), who both left the game due to injuries. The veteran QB helped lead San Diego on a nice drive in the final two minutes of regulation, completing both of his pass attempts for 25 yards, setting up Josh Lambo for the game-winning field goal. Rivers and the Chargers will be at home against a beatable Steelers' secondary in Week 5.

Rivers completed 21-of-34 passes for 246 yards, a touchdown and an interception in Sunday's game against the Vikings. He also lost a fumble in the 31-14 defeat.
The turnovers were critical against the Minnesota defense, as Rivers threw an interception that was returned 91-yards for a score and fumbled to set the Vikings up in the red zone. The Chargers have now lost back-to-back road games after a win in the opener, and the veteran signal caller has already turned the ball over six times this season. Rivers and company will look to get back on track when they host the Browns in Week 4.

Rivers completed 21-of-27 passes for 241 yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's loss to the Bengals.
Rivers came two completions short of matching the NFL record for consecutive completions and broke Dan Fouts' franchise record for touchdown throws. Aside from his dates with history, Rivers was contained by the Bengals' defense, turning the ball over twice and taking four sacks. His relative struggles could be attributed, in part, to his failure to establish his usual rapport with Keenan Allen, who only totaled two receptions for 16 yards. Rivers will be up against a fairly similar defense next week, as the Chargers travel to visit the Vikings, coached by former Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer.

Rivers completed 35-of-42 attempts for 404 yards, with two touchdowns and pair of interceptions, in Sunday's 33-28 win over Detroit.
Rivers was nearly perfect, although one of his interceptions was returned for a touchdown. He routinely hooked up with Keenan Allen and Stevie Johnson, who combined to catch 21 passes for 248 yards and a touchdown. Allen appears to be in better shape, as he looked especially spry in the open field, and Johnson brings a strong veteran presence, making Rivers a solid buy for those that waited on QBs this season.

Rivers left Saturday's preseason game after injuring a finger on his throwing hand, but X-rays were negative, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Rivers was 13-of-19 for 140 yards passing before departing.
Rivers didn't appear to have any trouble with the hand while watching the second half on the sidelines, so this injury looks minor.
Sat Aug 22 201521:36Philip Rivers: Sidelined Saturday
Rivers won't suit up for Saturday's preseason game at Arizona, the Chargers' official site reports.
There's little to gain and much to lose for Rivers in the preseason, outside of perhaps building his rapport with rookie running back Melvin Gordon. However, Gordon is out due to a minor ankle injury, so Rivers will remain on the sideline as well. Expect Rivers to be under center for most, if not all, of the first half in the Chargers' third exhibition next Saturday against the Seahawks.
Sat Aug 15 201523:19Philip Rivers: Agrees To Four-Year Extension
While an initial report indicated Rivers signed a four-year contract with the Chargers, the team has amended it to say he's agreed to a four-year extension.
While it's likely a formality, the deal isn't official yet. Assuming he does sign, the new contract will keep him under wraps with with the club through the 2019 season, eliminating any worries that he would walk from the Chargers following the 2015 campaign.
Sat Aug 15 201523:06Philip Rivers: Signs Four-Year Extension
Rivers signed a four-year contract extension with the Chargers on Saturday.
It's unclear how much the veteran quarterback will earn over that time period, but at the age of 33, the contract will take him through the 2019 season, at which point he will be 38 and likely nearing the end of his football career. While it's no guarantee, it seems likely that Rivers will end his career. At the very least, he should play at least 11 seasons with the club that traded Eli Manning for him in the 2009 NFL Draft.

Rivers completed 2-of-2 passes for 20 yards in Thursday's preseason opener against the Cowboys.
Rivers led the Chargers to a touchdown on his only drive, which started at the Dallas 33-yard line after Brandon Weeden fumbled a shotgun snap on a fourth down. Despite the offseason trade rumors, Rivers should enjoy an improved supporting cast as he enters a contract year. The Chargers drafted RB Melvin Gordon in the first round and appear to have an improved offensive line, but it's possible the swap from Eddie Royal to Stevie Johnson will be a downgrade in the slot, plus Antonio Gates is suspended for the first four games. There is still hope for internal improvement in the receiving corps, as Keenan Allen is a strong bounce-back candidate and Lardarius Green may finally get his big shot.
Fri May 1 201513:16Philip Rivers: Working On Contract Extension
The Chargers told Rivers that he would not be traded prior to the start of the NFL draft, and they are reportedly working on a contract extension for their star quarterback, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
In the end, all of the rumors about Rivers being shipped to Tennessee for the right to draft Marcus Mariota turned out to be much ado about nothing. While the teams did discuss the possibility of a trade, they were never close in terms of what each would require to get a deal done. Instead, the Bolts traded up for a top-shelf running back in Melvin Gordon, and that will more than likely make Rivers even more agreeable to a contract extension in San Diego.

Rivers reported to voluntary workouts at Chargers Park on Monday assuming that he is and will remain the starting quarterback in 2015, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
It's business as usual for Rivers, but his future with the team has been a hot topic of conversation in San Diego. Rivers is entering a contract year and has expressed a desire to play it out, while the Bolts have recently worked out former Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota. This combination of events has fueled speculation that Rivers could be moved in a blockbuster draft day trade. Rivers is well-respected in the locker room, and many of his teammates have expressed support for their field leader, but this is a story that is not likely to go away any time soon.

Rivers, who is entering the final year of his contract, is worried that the Chargers may move to Los Angeles in 2016 or 2017, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
The Chargers still hope Rivers will sign a long-term extension, but the 33-year-old quarterback indicated that he's willing to play out the season and hit free agency. While it still seems like speculation at this stage, the Chargers might consider a blockbuster trade involving Rivers, rather than risk losing a franchise quarterback for nothing besides draft compensation. Tennessee is mentioned as a possible landing spot, as the Titans own the No. 2 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, and Rivers has family in the area.
Wed Mar 25 201512:23The Chargers have no plans to deal Rivers (back)
The Chargers have no plans to deal Rivers (back), NFL.com reports.
Rivers, who is slated to enter the final year of his contract, plans to play out his current deal, but the Chargers have no plans to deal the 33-year-old signal-caller. "It's not even on our radar," GM Telesco insisted on Monday. This coming season, Rivers -- who is coming off a 2014 campaign in which he racked up 4,286 passing yards to go along with 31 TDs and 18 picks -- is in line to helm a San Diego passing offense that bid adieu to slot man Eddie Royal, but added Stevie Johnson in free agency. Meanwhile, the team's RB corps remains a work in progress, following the free agent departure of Ryan Mathews.

Rivers (back) will be evaluated in one month to determine whether or not his bulging disk requires offseason surgery, Chris Wesseling of NFL.com reports.
Rivers seems to be in the clear at the moment, although his evaluation may prove otherwise in a matter of one month. In the meantime, the veteran has returned to his normal offseason workouts and claims that his back is improving.

Rivers declined an invitation to play in this weekend's Pro Bowl because he is still nursing a back injury, the ESPN.com reports.
Meanwhile, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers and Ben Roethlisberger will also sit out the game as they bounce back from injuries. As a result, Tony Romo, Matt Ryan, Matthew Stafford, Andrew Luck, Drew Brees and Andy Dalton are the quarterbacks who will participate in Sunday's contest.

Rivers was 20-for-34 for 291 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions in San Diego's season ending defeat at Kansas City.
Rivers had a solid season despite dealing with a couple of nagging injuries, going over 4,000 yards passing for the sixth time in his career. Not only was Rivers banged up a few times, he had to play without his top running back, Ryan Mathews, for long stretches of the year and played behind an offensive line that started five different centers due to injury. Rivers toughness and leadership were on full display this year, but in the end he needed more help.

Rivers (chest/back) is active for Sunday's game at Kansas City.
Despite having a bulging disc in his back and nursing a sore chest, there was little doubt that Rivers would play in this must-win game for the Chargers.
Wed Dec 24 201415:51Rivers working with teammates this Wednesday
Rivers, who sat out last Wednesday's practice with a back issue, is working with his teammates this Wednesday, Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Per ESPN.com, while Rivers is dealing with a bulging disk in his back, he is fully expected to play in Sunday's game against the Chiefs, barring any setbacks.

Rivers has a bulging disk in his lower back that may require offseason surgery, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, Rivers' back was so bad two weeks ago that he received urgent treatment and considered sitting out the rest of the season. Instead, he opted to play through the pain, making his performance in Saturday night's remarkable comeback even more impressive. The back injury is not expected to keep him out of Week 17.
