Tolbert (groin) is active for Sunday's contest at Tampa Bay.
As Tolbert's snaps have increased by the game this season, so have his touches, which maxed out at eight (five rushes and three receptions) in Week 3. Overall, six of 11 carries and three of eight targets have occurred in the red zone, signaling that his usage could soon hit pay dirt.

Tolbert (groin) is listed as probable for Sunday's game in Tampa Bay.
Tolbert and Jonathan Stewart (leg) both returned to full practices Friday, after sitting out Wednesday and Thursday. With Stewart also probable, Tolbert is unlikely to get more than a handful of carries, though it's quite possible a few of those could come at the goal line.
Thu Oct 1 201511:16Tolbert (groin) not practicing Thursday
Tolbert (groin) is not practicing Thursday, Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer reports.
Tolbert continues to battle a groin injury, the details of which have not been disclosed by the team. As expected, most of Tolbert's work this season has come around the goal line, but with Jonathan Stewart (tibia) banged up as of Wednesday, Tolbert could see additional snaps, should Stewart be at all limited come Sunday's matchup with Tampa Bay.
Wed Sep 30 201515:55Tolbert (groin) non-participant at Wednesday's practice
Tolbert (groin) was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice.
Per usual, Tolbert has handled the red-zone work this season, but the end zone itself has eluded him. With Jonathan Stewart (tibia) sitting out practice Wednesday, Tolbert would normally be in line for expanded reps, but a groin injury is containing the fullback to the sideline as well. As the week continues, expect the backfield situation to receive some clarity.

Tolbert finished Sunday's win over the Saints with five rushes for 16 yards and three catches (on three targets) for 28 yards.
Tolbert was handed his usual red zone workload Sunday and also contributed in the Panthers' passing game, finishing third on the team in receptions and yards. Although he's yet to find the end zone this season, Tolbert's 7-10 touches per week evidence his useful role in Carolina's offense.

Tolbert rushed five times for 31 yards and caught two passes for four yards in Sunday's win over the Texans.
Tolbert touched the ball just twice in Week 1, but saw his workload increase against Houston, even if his final numbers weren't widely useful to fantasy owners. Nonetheless, as a red zone weapon, it's worthwhile to note that Tolbert is still factoring into the Panthers' running game, particularly as someone to turn to in short-yard situations.

Tolbert had three carries for six yards in Saturday's preseason game against the Dolphins.
Tolbert got consecutive goal-line carries in the second quarter but failed to convert either into a touchdown. Although he'll likely poach a few touchdowns and get some work on obvious passing downs, Tolbert doesn't figure to log enough snaps or touches to warrant consideration in most leagues.

Tolbert managed just 78 rushing yards on 37 carries and caught 12 passes for 93 yards through eight games played this season.
Tolbert, the Panthers' bulldozer full back, missed an eight-game chunk during the middle of season due to a slight leg fracture suffered in Week 3. That prolonged absence hurt Tolbert's hit-or-miss fantasy stock, which is mostly rooted in his goal-line scoring ability anyway. To that point, Tolbert notched an outstanding 35 touchdowns over the previous four seasons, making his zero-touchdown 2014 all the more disappointing. Fortunately, Tolbert is still under contract with the Panthers for next season, when he'll hope for a healthy and hard-running rebound campaign.

Tolbert ran twice for seven yards and caught a one-yard touchdown pass during Saturday's playoff win over the Cardinals.
Tolbert saw his usual short-yardage work, which was highlighted by a late touchdown catch to seal the Panthers' victory. As in recent weeks, Carolina's running game continues to purr, with Tolbert leading the way blocking and offering goal line potential for fantasy owners as well.
Sun Nov 30 201412:04Tolbert (knee) listed as active Sunday in Minnesota
Tolbert (knee) is listed as active Sunday in Minnesota.
Ready to roll for the first time since Week 3, Tolbert's occasional end-zone visit could materialize against a Vikings defense that has given up 12 combined touchdowns to running backs this season. More likely, though, he'll pave the way for the likes of DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart, keeping Tolbert's boom-or-bust potential in check.

Tolbert (knee) is probable for Sunday's game against Minnesota.
Tolbert will be ready to return to the Carolina backfield as a fullback and occasional carry/catch vulture, but attempting to anticipate his useful fantasy days probably isn't a worthwhile endeavor.
Wed Nov 26 201418:51Tolbert (knee) full participant in practice Wednesday
Tolbert (knee) was a full participant in practice Wednesday, the Panthers' official site reports.
During the team's Week 12 bye, Tolbert was activated from the IR/designated-to-return list following an eight-game absence due to a hairline fracture/bone bruise in his left leg. Now that Carolina's backfield is fully intact, Tolbert is unlikely to garner touches far from the goal line, if he's able to play Sunday in Minnesota.

The Panthers activated Tolbert (leg) from the IR/designated to return list Tuesday.
The Panthers have not provided a recent update on Tolbert's health, but it appears he is feeling good enough to resume playing. He will get one more week to rest with the Panthers off in Week 12, but figures to be active for Carolina's Week 13 matchup with the Vikings.

Tolbert (leg) expects to be ready to play once he's eligible to return in Week 13, the Charlotte Observer reports.
Tolbert is currently on the Panthers' designated to return list, which will prevent Tolbert from playing for four more weeks. However, with the fullback reportedly ahead of schedule in his recovery from a hairline fracture in his left leg, Tolbert is aiming to be full-go for that Week 13 contest versus the Vikings.

Tolbert (leg) has been placed on the Panthers' injured reserve/designated to return list.
Tolbert suffered a hairline fracture in his left leg during Sunday's loss to the Steelers. While he was initially expected to miss more than a month, Tolbert's being named Carolina's designated player to return will prevent him from playing until Week 13 against the Vikings. Until then, the Panthers will be without their bulldozing power runner, which coincides with fellow ball-carriers Jonathan Stewart (knee) and Fozzy Whittaker (quadriceps) also expected to miss time due to injury.

Tolbert could miss more than a month with a hairline fracture/bone bruise in his left leg, Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer reports.
While the report suggests that Tolbert won't need surgery, he's clearly going to miss some time, with coach Ron Rivera acknowledging Monday that that Tolbert's status will "probably be a week-by-week thing." With running back Jonathan Stewart also hurting, the Panthers' backfield depth is taxed as the moment, though on a more encouraging front, DeAngelo Williams is expect to practice on Wednesday.
Mon Sep 22 201414:01Mike Tolbert: Stress Fracture in Leg
Tolbert suffered a stress fracture in his left leg in Sunday's loss to the Steelers, the Charlotte Observer reports.
As a result, Tolbert will miss Week 4's game against the Ravens, at a minimum. Meanwhile, Jonathan Stewart is dealing with severely sprained right knee, with about the only positive Panthers' backfield news to emerge Monday being that coach Ron Rivera said that he hopes DeAngelo Williams can practice on Wednesday.
Mon Sep 22 201413:00The Panthers are awaiting results of Tolbert's (leg) MRI
The Panthers are awaiting the results of Tolbert's (leg) MRI, Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer reports.
The same applies to Jonathan Stewart, with Darrin Reaves suddenly the team's healthiest backfield option. On the plus side though, DeAngelo Williams -- who missed Sunday's game -- could return to the mix this coming weekend.

Tolbert left Sunday's game in the fourth quarter with an apparent knee injury, ESPN's David Newton reports.
Tolbert walked off the field under his own power after suffering the injury on the Panthers' fourth-to-last offensive play of the game. Jonathan Stewart suffered a knee contusion at the end of the third quarter, leaving Tolbert to work as the top back for much of the fourth quarter, when he recorded three of his six touches. The Panthers only had 10 carries as a team, and Tolbert finished his day with four yards on three totes and 20 yards on three receptions. The Panthers will likely have either DeAngelo Williams (thigh) or Stewart (knee) back next week, but if not, Tobert could be in line for significant work. RB Fozzy Whittaker (ankle) also missed Sunday's game, allowing Darrin Reaves to serve as the No. 3 running back. Of the five running backs on Carolina's roster, only Reaves is without a known injury concern.

Tolbert (chest) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Steelers.
Tolbert is available if you need him Sunday and he could see some added Week 3 looks behind Jonathan Stewart, with DeAngelo Williams inactive for the contest.
