Bakhtiari appeared in five games for the 49ers last season after being out of the league in 2010-11. He'd compete for a spot on special teams in Big D.

Bakhtiari is taking the suspended Clark Haggans' roster spot. The deal is likely two years for bonus spreading purposes. A former undrafted free agent, Bakhtiari hasn't appeared in a game since 2009.

49ers signed OLB Eric Bakhtiari and DB Ben Hannuka, and waived OT Kevin Murphy and WR John Matthews.
Bakhtiari supplies depth after reserve OLBs Darius Fleming and Kourtnei Brown both pulled hamstrings at rookie camp. Murphy was a UDFA out of Harvard. Matthews spent time on San Francisco's practice squad last year.
