Blount had 13 carries for 74 yards in Sunday's 30-6 win at Dallas. He was on the field for 17 offensive snaps, compared to 43 for Dion Lewis, ESPN's Mike Reiss reports.
Lewis got the large majority of snaps, but Blount made his presence felt with a couple of nice runs, including a 34-yard scamper at one point. Lewis finished with just six carries for 34 yards, but was once again productive as a pass catcher, hauling in 8-of-11 targets for 59 yards and a touchdown. After receiving just two carries in Week 2, Blount has been more a factor in the last two games, averaging 76 yards on the ground with three touchdowns. Next week, the Pats will travel to Indianapolis, which has been average against the run this season.

Blount carried 18 times for 78 yards and three touchdowns and caught one pass for 14 yards in Sunday's 51-17 win over the Jaguars.
Meanwhile, Dion Lewis ran eight times for 37 yards and a TD, while catching five passes for 30 yards in the contest. While the bruising Blount wasn't a big part of the Patriots' offense early on, his role grew as Sunday's game progressed. Moving forward, Blount should handle the heavy lifting in the Patriots' backfield, with Lewis still in line for a good share of touches on a weekly basis as well. With the Patriots on bye in Week 4, Blount won't have a chance to follow up on his big Week 3 until Oct. 11 against the Cowboys.
Sun Sep 20 201517:11In return to action following one-game suspension
In his return to action following his one-game suspension, Blount was on the field for just seven of the Patriots' snaps on offense in Sunday's win over the Bills, ESPN's Mike Reiss reports. In the process, Blount carried twice for four yards.
Meanwhile, Dion Lewis was on the field for 70 snaps, carrying the ball seven times for 40 yards and a TD, while catching six passes for 98 yards. While such a scenario is hardly an ideal outcome for Blount owners, it's worth noting that Lewis has put the ball on ground in two straight games, plus the Patriots' RB division of touches is often game-plan dependent, suggesting that the bruising Blount's workload will quite possibly increase next weekend against the Jaguars.

Blount, who sat out the Patriots' regular season opener while serving a one-game suspension, is set to make his 2015 season debut against the Bills on Sunday.
While Blount was unavailable last week, the Patriots turned to 5-foot-8, 195-pound Dion Lewis to handle of good chunk of the team's Week 1 rushing load, but against the Bills' stout defensive line, we'd expect the Patriots to quickly reintroduce the bruising Blount to the mix in his return to action on Sunday.
Sat Sep 12 201516:40LeGarrette Blount: Back On The Roster
The Patriots officially reinstated Blount to their active roster Saturday, ESPN's Field Yates reports.
Blount was added back to the 53-man roster after serving his one-game suspension in Week 1. Dion Lewis was effective in the season opener with Blount out of action, and head coach Bill Belichick is not likely to shed much light on the situation, but Blount will presumably serve as the Patriots' primary ball carrier moving forward.

Blount (suspension) recorded 10 carries for 24 yards and caught four passes for 54 yards in Thursday's preseason finale against the Giants.
At first glance, it might seem odd that Blount -- a presumed starter -- saw that many touches in the team's fourth preseason game, but Erik Scalavino of Patriots.com suggests that Blount's extended action Thursday is probably more a case of the team's coaching staff wanting to give the running back some extra reps in advance of his one-game suspension to start the regular season. Meanwhile, Jonas Gray, who seems likely to handle early-down work for the Patriots in Week 1, did not see action in Thursday's contest.

Blount (suspension) had seven carries for 29 yards in Friday's preseason game at Carolina.
Blount did not play with Tom Brady in the first half, but rather with Jimmy Garoppolo in the second half. We wouldn't read too much into this, as coach Bill Belichick could have multiple reasons for his somewhat odd usage of Blount on Friday.

Blount (suspension) carried 13 times for 15 yards in Saturday's preseason game against the Saints.
While the results weren't favorable, Blount proved that he's past the right knee issue that slowed him earlier this month. While Blount is suspended for Week 1, assuming no further injury issues, he remains on track to serve as the Patriots' top "big back" upon his regular season return in Week 2.
Sun Aug 16 201515:48Blount (suspension)
Blount (suspension), who injured his right knee Aug. 7, has returned to 11-on-11 drills at practice, the Boston Herald reports.
Blount, who was a limited participant in Tuesday's workout, sat out Thursday's preseason opener, but he has quickly moved past what turned out to be a minor MCL injury. In Blount's absence Thursday, Jonas Gray turned seven carries into 74 yards, including a 55-yard TD run. With Blount suspended for Week 1, Gray figure to start the Patriots' regular season opener, but assuming no further injury issues, Blount remains on track to serve as the Patriots' top "big back," an assignment that should result in plenty of early-down work for the 6-0, 250-pounder.
Tue Aug 11 201512:14Though Blount (right knee) did not practice Monday
Though Blount (right knee) did not practice Monday, he was spotted running uphill sprints (with some of the Patriots' other banged up players) while his teammates were on the field, the Boston Herald reports.
In any case, Blount who injured his knee during Friday's practice, appears to avoided a serious issue here, a notion supported by the fact that the running back's MRI revealed no structural damage. Prior to sustaining the injury, the report notes that Blount had "been far and away the best running back in training camp," which sets that stage for the 6-0, 250-poudner to serve as the Patriots' primary "big back" once he serves a one-game suspension to start the regular season.
Mon Aug 10 201516:27LeGarrette Blount: (Knee) MRI Returned Negative
Blount underwent an MRI on his right knee, which was returned negative, Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reports.
Blount sustained a sprained MCL on Friday when an offensive lineman fell on him, but following the results of the weekend exam, the Patriots are expected to build his reps "slowly" as camp continues. As evidence, Blount was seen performing hill sprints Monday, meaning individual work on the side will likely occur in the near future.
Fri Aug 7 201523:11LeGarrette Blount: Suffers Sprained MCL
Blount suffered a sprained MCL in his right knee during Friday's training camp session, the Boston Globe's Shalise Manza Young reports.
Despite the injury Blount is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season, according to the report. That said, Blount is still suspended for the first game of the regular season, which will give him an extra week to rest the injured knee. Jonas Gray and Brandon Bolden stand to get more carries in camp while Blount recovers.

Blount was forced to leave Friday's practice early due to an apparently minor right knee ailment, NESN reports.
Blount reportedly limped away from the practice field after his right knee became bothersome, but at the moment, it's unclear whether the ache will be something to monitor further. Anyway, Blount is suspended for the first game of the upcoming regular season, providing an unwanted build-in rest week for the tailback once the preseason concludes.

Blount returned to practice Saturday after coming off the Patriots' non-football injury list, the Boston Globe reports.
Blount, who missed the Patriots' first two training camp practices after not passing the team's conditioning test, returned to work for Saturday's workout, which included a good amount of contact. The 6-0, 250-pounder is slated to serve a one-game suspension to start the regular season, but upon his return to action in Week 2 against the Bills, we'd expect him to serve as the Patriots' primary "big back." At this stage, Jonas Gray would appear to the leading candidate to see early-down work in Week 1, though we suppose that the likes of Tyler Gaffney or Brandon Bolden could challenge Gray for that assignment. Meanwhile, James White, Travaris Cadet and Dion Lewis are the prime candidates to help fill the void created by the departure of pass-catching back Shane Vereen.
Sat Aug 1 201509:41LeGarrette Blount: Returns To Practice
Blount has apparently passed his conditioning test and returned to practice in full pads,Mike Reiss of ESPN reports.
At this point, Blount should be ready for full practice participation and start competing in what seems to be a wide open running back competition. His eventual role does seem obvious though, as a short-yardage, power back.
Thu Jul 30 201512:18Blount (suspension)
Blount (suspension), who the Patriots placed on their non-football injury list to open training camp, reportedly failed his conditioning test, Ben Volin of the Boston Globe reports.
The reports suggests that in order to do so, Blount needed to run 20 50-yard sprints in under eight seconds each, and he only did 12. In any case, we'd expect Blount to get over that minor conditioning hurdle sooner rather than later and join his teammates at practice once he does.

The Patriots have placed Blount on their non-football injury list, NESN.com reports.
Blount, who can be removed from the list at any point during training camp, is in line to serve as the Patriots' lead back this coming season, that is after he serves a one-game suspension in Week 1.
Tue Apr 7 201516:45LeGarrette Blount: Suspended For 1 Game
Blount will be suspended for one game for a violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy, ESPN's Adam Caplan reports.
This stems from Blount's August arrest for marijuana possession, back when he was with the Steelers. His legal case was resolved in December, and the Patriots probably aren't surprised that they won't have Blount in Week 1. Jonas Gray and Brandon Bolden could handle the early-down work in Blount's absence, assuming they're still on the roster.

Blount had 14 carries for 40 yards in Sunday's 28-24 Super Bowl win over the Seahawks.
The Patriots tested out their power running game a few times, but the gameplan largely called for short passes, which led to Shane Vereen recording a team-high 11 receptions. Vereen and Stevan Ridley (knee) are both impending free agents, while Blount is signed for one more season. It would make sense for the Patriots to let Ridley walk, but there's little question that the team will either re-sign Vereen or seek a similar pass-catching replacement. Blount is currently the leading candidate to work as New England's top power back in 2015, but the team also has Jonas Gray, and the history of running back usage is notoriously difficult to predict. Also, the Patriots drafted James White in the fourth round of May's draft, and the former Wisconsin Badger may get a chance to earn a larger role in the offense next season.

Blount carried 30 times for 148 yards with three TDs in Sunday's 45-7 win over the Colts in the AFC Championship Game.
Blount -- who carried just three times for one yard in last week's win over the Ravens -- set a Patriots' postseason record with his 30 carries, as the Patriots re-established their ground game in a big way in the team's rout over the Colts. On the heels of his stellar effort Sunday, Blount is on track to remain the team's lead back in Super Bowl XLIX against the Seahawks.
