C Josh Thole went 2-for-3 with a two-run double in a 5-4 loss to Oakland on Saturday. He ended a streak of 77 at-bats without an extra-base hit with his double in the second inning. "I'm tweaking things and I'm feeling comfortable," Thole said. "I'll ride it as long as I can."

C Josh Thole has experienced some problems with passed balls at times early this season. He had two on April 9 versus the Red Sox and his passed ball in this game, in the 10th inning, let the Orioles scored the winning run. "I just missed the ball," he said.

Wed Sep 2 201515:07Thole recalled and in lineup Wednesday against Indians
Thole has been recalled and is in the lineup Wednesday against the Indians.
Thole will return to the Blue Jays after a brief stay at rookie-level Bluefield to catch R.A. Dickey, who is on the hill Wednesday. Thole will bat ninth in the order. He'll likely remain with the Blue Jays for the remainder of the season now that rosters have expanded.
Fri Aug 28 201522:29Thole optioned to rookie-level Bluefield after Friday's game
Thole was optioned to rookie-level Bluefield after Friday's game.
Thole could be back up to provide depth at catcher when rosters expand in September, but he would only be used sparingly as long as Russell Martin and Dioner Navarro are healthy.
Sun Aug 23 201509:16Thole recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday
Thole was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports.
With longtime battery mate R.A. Dickey slated to take the mound Sunday, expect Thole to enter the Toronto lineup as he makes his return to the majors. Though he's a polished defensive presence behind the plate, Thole offers little upside with the bat, as his career .251/.323/.318 slash line would suggest.
Wed Aug 5 201518:55Thole placed on 7-day disabled list Wednesday retroactive to Aug
Thole was placed on the 7-day disabled list Wednesday retroactive to Aug. 3 due to a finger infection.
Thole has not been up with the Blue Jays since June 2, but he is a candidate to catch for R.A Dickey in his next start once he's eligible to be activated from the disabled list. The Blue Jays signed veteran catcher George Kottaras to a minor league deal Wednesday to provide catching depth while Thole is sidelined.

Thole was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo after the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Nationals, Sportsnet's Shi Davidi reports.
With Dioner Navarro (hamstring) ready to return from the disabled list, the Jays got one last start out of Thole, who went 2-for-4 in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader. Thole doesn't figure to get another shot in the majors until September, unless Navarro or Russell Martin suffers an injury.

Thole went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a RBI in Tuesday's 10-9 win over the White Sox.
Thole more than doubled his hit total (from two to five) for the season on Tuesday and was an integral piece of why the Jays won. He really only plays when R.A. Dickey is on the mound, something that dates back to their time on the Mets together. He's still only hitting .227 on the season and his lack of regular playing time gives him limited fantasy value.
Thu Apr 23 201511:31Thole recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday
Thole was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday.
Dioner Navarro was placed on the 15-day DL on Thursday so the Blue Jays needed a backup catcher. Navarro is out with a strained hamstring, so he could require a few weeks to get right, but Thole won't see more than one or two starts per week while Russell Martin is healthy.
Tue Mar 31 201510:33Thole will start season with Triple-A Buffalo
Thole will start his season with Triple-A Buffalo, John Lott of the National Post reports.
Russell Martin has apparently done a decent job of handling R.A. Dickey this spring, allowing the Blue Jays to stick with just two catchers on the Opening Day roster. Thole is only the third backstop in the organization, but the Jays could eventually decide to carry three catchers, if Martin struggles to handle Dickey.

Thole's chances of making the Opening Day roster are still up in the air as there have been conflicting reports as to whether or not he will make the team, John Lott of the National Post reports.
Thole has had a strong spring at the plate, hitting .310 in 17 games, but his status is very up-in-the-air due to the presence of both Dioneer Navarro and Russell Martin. Thole has been R.A. Dickey's personal catcher for the past two seasons, but throughout the spring, the Blue Jays have tried to get Martin more comfortable catching Dickey's knuckleball. This decision will likely come down to the wire and Thole's fantasy value is tied to whether or not he makes the team, though his meager hitting statistics and limited at-bats should hinder his value either way.

Thole may get squeezed from the Jays' roster if the team ends up keeping Dioner Navarro, Sportsnet.ca reports.
The Jays don't want to keep more than two catchers, but another factor in Thole having a roster spot may be Russell Martin's ability to catch knuckleballer R.A. Dickey. Nevertheless, a trade involving Navarro would go a long way toward providing Thole with job security.
Sat Nov 1 201414:54The Blue Jays exercised 2015 club option for Thole
The Blue Jays exercised the 2015 club option for Thole, SportsNet's Shi Davidi reports.
Defensively, Thole is a fine backup catcher, but he hit .248 with zero home runs in 150 plate appearances last year and is a very low-end option in fantasy.
