Mon Apr 29 201316:30Titans hosting three free agents Monday
In addition to Eric Winston and Israel Idonije, the Titans are hosting DB Jason Allen for a free-agent visit Monday.
The Titans may simply be kicking tires on all three. Allen was the 16th overall pick in the 2006 draft and has never found a positional home, shuttling between safety and corner. He couldn't get on the field in Cincinnati last year.

Sat Mar 30 201314:51Jason Allen on the bubble in Cincinnati?
Bengals.com wonders if CB Jason Allen is on the roster bubble.
With the re-signings of CBs Adam Jones and Terence Newman, Allen is no higher than the fifth cornerback on the depth chart. The soon-to-be 30-year-old former first-round pick is also due $3 million this season. Allen played just three snaps on defense last season.

Bengals signed CB Jason Allen, formerly of the Texans.
Allen is a cornerback/safety hybrid at 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, and appeared in all 16 games with the Texans last season, making four starts. Allen figures to see extensive playing time in sub packages and could push Nate Clements for a starting job opposite Leon Hall.

Tue Aug 9 201119:29James Allen could push for starting job
Coach Gary Kubiak said "there's absolutely no doubt" CB James Allen could push for a starting job.
Allen is showing "terrific ball skills" and avoiding mental errors in Wade Phillips' new defense, according to beat writer John McClain. He's also playing the run well and showing leadership on a defense that could certainly use it. Kareem Jackson is on notice.

Fri May 27 201117:17Jason Allen in mix for big role in secondary
New DBs coach Vance Joseph indicated that Jason Allen will be in the mix for a major role this season.
"He made some plays," Joseph said after watching 2010 tape. "That guy does some things that make you really, really excited. I'm looking forward to him playing corner for an entire training camp. Because his entire career, he's been in between safety and corner." Allen is in a contract year. He had six interceptions in 2010, three with Miami and three with Houston.

CB Jason Allen is expected to make his Texans debut this weekend.
"My expectations are for him to play," coach Gary Kubiak said. "We'll catch him up. I'll have to see how he practices, but I expect him to be a part of what we're doing." The former Dolphin will have a limited role initially, but it's possible Allen could eventually work his way into the starting lineup.

Sat Nov 13 201010:02Jason Allen could see some time Sunday
Newly acquired CB Jason Allen could play Sunday against Jacksonville.
Allen will be primarily a backup and special teams player, though he certainly has the talent to make an impact off the bench. Said head coach Gary Kubiak, "if he gives us a chance to get better, we see him being a part of what we're doing, hopefully, sooner than later."

Thu Nov 11 201016:52Texans claim CB Jason Allen off waivers
Texans claimed CB Jason Allen off waivers from the Dolphins.
It's nice pickup for a secondary in need of a talent infusion, though Allen isn't a great bet to make an immediate impact. The Texans seem intent on letting Kareem Jackson play his way through a rocky rookie season. With the ability to also play safety, Allen will be primarily a backup and special teamer in the short term.

Wed Nov 10 201011:21Dolphins waive Jason Allen
Dolphins waived CB Jason Allen.
Allen surprisingly won a starting job in training camp, but the former first-round pick predictably has struggled mightily all season, and the Dolphins have decided to cut bait. He'll latch on somewhere, but his days of starting might be over. Miami signed former Packers cornerback Al Harris to replace Allen on the roster.
Wed Oct 27 201013:54Jason Allen, Sean Smith to rotate
Jason Allen and Sean Smith are expected to rotate at right cornerback for the Dolphins going forward.
After being picked apart by Ben Roethlisberger in Week 7, Allen was benched for Smith, who came on and also struggled mightily. Though Vontae Davis is still playing well, the rest of the Dolphins' pass defense is tanking, having given up 300-plus passing yards in back-to-back games. They're not an imposing matchup for Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco in Week 8.

Fri Aug 27 201018:46Jason Allen to start over Sean Smith
Jason Allen is slated to start the Dolphins' third preseason game at right cornerback over Sean Smith.
Smith struggled throughout camp, so he's being put on notice. While Smith is definitely a better option that the former draft bust Allen, the Miami Herald believes there's a real possibility that Smith could open the season coming off the bench. Beat writer Omar Kelly suggests Allen is being showcased for a trade.

Thu May 13 201017:18Jason Allen on the roster bubble again
Dolphins DB Jason Allen is expected to be on the roster bubble in training camp.
Allen's roster spot was in danger last summer as well, but his special teams work kept him around. He's an "afterthought" in the team's free safety competition, so the Dolphins may finally sever ties with the 2006 first-rounder.
