Zagurski was released by the Blue Jays on Tuesday, Tim Dierkes of MLB Trade Rumors reports.

Zagurski's release came at his own request, as he is hoping to parlay his strong minor league season -- 2.08 ERA, 83 K in 60.2 innings -- into a major league job.

New York wanted "lefty insurance," according to McCullough, and their search ended with Zagurski. The southpaw opted out of his contract with the A's earlier this month because Oakland didn't include him amongst its September call-ups. Zagurski owns a brutal 6.84 ERA over 88 career appearances. It's unclear at the moment if the Yankees will hand Zagurski a major league contract and immediately add him to the active roster.
