Gardner signed a three-year extension with the Eagles on Tuesday that will keep him under contract through the end of the 2018 season, ESPN's Adam Caplan reports.
Signed to a two-year deal last March to serve as a backup on the offensive line, Gardner made a mark with his versatility when injuries opened up playing time for him. He saw action at right tackle and right guard, and is in line to start at the latter position this season after the team let Evan Mathis walk in the offseason.

Gardner was not tendered an offer as a restricted free agent earlier in the week, and instead he'll be back on the four-year veteran minimum, most likely. He appeared in three games for the Texans last season as a swing tackle.

Gardner has spent time on the practice squads of the Bengals and Ravens after being drafted by Miami in 2009. He'll fill the swing tackle role in Houston with Rashad Butler out for the season.
