Amendola, who was on the field for 54-of-81 snaps on offense in Sunday's 51-17 win over the Jaguars, per ESPN's Mike Reiss, caught all five of his targets for 39 yards and a TD in the process.

The health of Julian Edelman and Brandon LaFell would appear to key Amendola's fantasy prospects early on, with LaFell's status looking cloudier by the day. If LaFell is forced to miss time early on, Amendola could see added looks in the Pats' offense, with Dobson and newcomer Reggie Wayne also candidates for expanded opportunities. Overall though, Amendola's clearest path to regular season fantasy utility is any sort sort of Edelman absence.

A few weeks ago, he looked like a strong candidate to be released this offseason, but that now seems somewhat less likely, though not out of the question. The Patriots can save $2.1 million against the 2015 cap by cutting Amendola before June 1, or they can save $4.5 million by designating him as a post-June 1 cut, according to overthecap.com. If Amendola returns, he'll presumably do so as the No. 3 wide receiver, behind Julian Edelman and Brandon LaFell.
