Sun Aug 11 201309:06Report: Robinson's concussions scared Pats
The Boston Globe reports the Patriots wanted to sign free agent Laurent Robinson, but "didn't feel comfortable enough about the concussions."
Robinson tried out for the Pats late last month. Robinson has visited seven teams this summer, but beat writer Ben Volin repots teams are "scared" of his concussion history. Robinson was allowed to suffer an unfathomable five concussions last season. The fact that he's yet to land a contract despite making seven visits is an ominous sign for his NFL future.

Fri Aug 9 201316:04Laurent Robinson receives medical clearance
USA Today's Tom Pelissero reports free agent Laurent Robinson recently received full medical clearance for his concussions from an Orlando-based clinic.
Pelissero expects Robinson to find a team "soon." The 28-year-old has worked out for seven teams since the end of last year. The Ravens and 49ers -- defending Super Bowl champs -- are among the most receiver-needy clubs in the league.

Wed Aug 7 201312:51Eagles have no plans to sign veteran receiver
Despite losing both Arrelious Benn and Jeremy Maclin for the season to torn ACLs, GM Howie Roseman says the Eagles have no plans to sign a veteran receiver.
"You want your young players to grow and develop," Roseman said, "and that's why you keep young players on your roster." Roseman said the same thing last week following the loss of Maclin. Laurent Robinson and Brandon Lloyd are the top two veteran free-agent receivers. CSN Philly does expect the Eagles to bring in "one or two" receivers this week, but they'll be younger guys.

Tue Aug 6 201321:05Laurent Robinson will work out for Colts
Free agent WR Laurent Robinson will work out for the Colts.
It will be Robinson's seventh tryout since late July. On one hand, it's encouraging Robinson keeps getting workouts. On the other, it's not a good sign that he's yet to find a team comfortable enough with his concussion history to sign him.

Sun Aug 4 201313:50Laurent Robinson to work out for Saints
Free agent WR Laurent Robinson will work out for the Saints on Monday.
Marques Colston, Nick Toon, and Joe Morgan are all nursing various minor injuries, so the Saints need bodies. Robinson, 28, has steadily started making the rounds on his free-agent tour the past couple of weeks, but this smells like the Saints are just bringing him in to update their emergency list.

Wed Jul 31 201319:36Laurent Robinson trying out for San Francisco
Free agent WR Laurent Robinson will work out for the 49ers on Thursday.
It would be an ideal landing spot for the 28-year-old veteran, but his health remains a major question mark. He just got beaten out for a roster spot in Miami by Julius Pruitt, suggesting the Dolphins weren't sold on his medicals. Robinson would have some WR4/5 appeal in San Francisco if he could stay on the field.

Mon Jul 29 201313:22Report: Dolphins looking at receiver market
The Miami Herald's Armando Salguero reports the Dolphins are exploring the receiver market after losing Armon Binns and Rishard Matthews to injury.
Binns (ACL) is out for the season, while Matthews (undisclosed) will be sidelined "several weeks." Laurent Robinson and Brandon Lloyd are the top free agent wideouts available, but neither is a particularly appealing option. Robinson is coming off a concussion-marred 2012, while Lloyd is dealing with diminishing skills and questions about his attitude.

Fri Jul 26 201317:13Texans to host Laurent Robinson?
USA Today's Tom Pelissero "hears" the Texans could be the next team to host free agent WR Laurent Robinson.
Robinson visited the Lions, Jets, and Patriots during the past week. Detroit signed Chaz Schilens instead, while the Jets re-upped Braylon Edwards. In Houston, Robinson would vie for a job behind Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins.

Mon Jul 22 201317:51Laurent Robinson to visit Patriots on Tuesday
Free agent Laurent Robinson left his Monday Jets tryout without a contract and will visit the Patriots on Tuesday.
Perhaps this means the Jets will wind up signing Austin Collie, who was also at Monday's workout. Robinson, at least theoretically, is a classic "X" receiver -- the position vacated in New England's offense by Brandon Lloyd's release. Robinson would compete for playing time with Aaron Dobson, Josh Boyce, Michael Jenkins, and UDFA super-sleeper Kenbrell Thompkins.

The Jets are giving both Robinson and Austin Collie a tryout prior to the start of training camp. Robinson was released by the Jaguars this offseason after being diagnosed with four 2012 concussions, but says that he's "symptom free" and will attempt to continue his career on a non-guaranteed contract.

Tue Jul 16 201318:02Laurent Robinson hoping to play this season
Free agent WR Laurent Robinson (concussions) says he's symptom free, and wants to play in 2013.
The Jaguars cut Robinson loose just one year into his five-year, $32.5 million contract after he suffered a terrifying four concussions last season. "There's going to be doubts about me with the concussions," Robinson conceded. "But the only thing I can do is tell teams to bring me in, work me out and go from there. ... I know myself that I can still play. It's just if a team wants to take a chance on me." Robinson's agent says there are "some teams interested." Still only 28, Robinson should get another shot if he can find a doctor to clear him.

Tue Mar 19 201318:57Cowboys open to re-signing Laurent Robinson
The Cowboys are open to a reunion with free agent WR Laurent Robinson.
"Obviously, he played lights out and we tried to sign him last year and his price got more than we could handle under our cap,'' executive VP Stephen Jones said. "We've got to look at the big picture with Laurent. He had some (concussions) that we're going to be doing our homework on and be going from there." The Cowboys have a few options for their No. 3 receiver, but none of them are proven. Returning to the team he broke out with in 2011 would be a best-case scenario for Robinson, but it remains unclear if he'll even be cleared to play for 2013.

Wed Mar 13 201311:09Concussions end Robinson's time with Jaguars
Jaguars released WR Laurent Robinson.
Signed to a five-year, $32.5 million deal a year ago, Robinson's career is now in jeopardy thanks to four 2012 concussions. Although the Jags say he passed his exit physical, that doesn't mean he's been cleared to play again. As recently as a month ago, Robinson was still experiencing headaches and other concussion-related symptoms. He added that he felt light-headed during a workout Tuedsay. Robinson wants to play again, but we fear this is headed down the Jahvid Best path.

Sat Feb 2 201301:31Concussions remain big issue for WR Robinson
Laurent Robinson still faces "serious obstacles" as he attempts to bounce back from four concussions suffered during the 2012 season.
"And he might call it quits" at the next sign of a problem, according to Gene Frenette of the Florida Times Union. "I said to him, 'One more concussion, and you need to be done,'" said Robinson's wife. Robinson continues to battle "severe headaches," and "prefers not to go out in daylight." He's also begun distancing himself from their baby daughter when she makes noise. "I want to continue to play [football]," said Laurent. "But I still want to live until 80 or 90 years old."

Wed Nov 21 201211:59Laurent Robinson lands on injured reserve
Jaguars placed Laurent Robinson (concussions) on injured reserve, ending his season.
The Jags foolishly gave Robinson a five-year, $32.5 million contract in free agency. He ended up sustaining four concussions in four months, falling behind Cecil Shorts on the depth chart and catching 24 balls with no touchdowns in seven games. The Jags are moving forward with a two-wide set featuring Shorts and Justin Blackmon as their base.
