Saints WR Adrian Arrington (knee) returned to practice Monday.
Arrington is roughly one month removed from meniscus surgery. He believes he'll be able to play in Week 1, but won't have a major role regardless. Joseph Morgan flashed in the preseason as the No. 4 wideout, posting 15 catches for 182 yards with two touchdowns in five games.

Adrian Arrington has made the 53-man roster.
There are some doubt as to Arrington's status after early-August knee surgery, but he's survived the cut and is expected to be ready for Week 1. He'll have some work to do to reclaim the No. 4 wideout spot.

Thu Aug 23 201214:02Arrington still expected for season opener
Interim coach Joe Vitt still expects WR Adrian Arrington (knee surgery) to be ready for the season opener.
It's a bit of a surprise considering Arrington has yet to start running in the pool. The inference is that Vitt expects Arrington to make the final roster in a crowded wide receiver corps despite the injury.

Adrian Arrington (knee surgery) hasn't even started running in the pool yet.
Arrington is hoping to get in the pool next week and then return to practice two weeks after that. Even if he sticks by this optimistic timetable, he's going to miss at least Week 1. Joseph Morgan and Courtney Roby have been taking the No. 4 wideout reps with Arrington and Nick Toon (foot) sidelined.

Fri Aug 10 201218:42Adrian Arrington likely needs knee surgery
Saints WR Adrian Arrington is expected to require surgery "of some kind" on his troublesome knee.
Arrington missed New Orleans' first two exhibition games, and it sounds like he'll miss the final three as well after a visit to the office of Dr. James Andrews. No one has stepped up in the Saints' fourth receiver derby as of yet.

Mon Aug 6 201200:05Adrian Arrington to meet with Dr. Andrews
Saints WR Adrian Arrington will see Dr. James Andrews shortly for an evaluation of his knee injury.
It's reportedly a meniscus injury, and coach Joe Vitt says the Saints are trying to determine whether Arrington needs surgery. Surgery would likely cost Arrington the early part of the regular season -- assuming it's a scope -- and end his year in a worst-case scenario. This sounds like another tough break for an annual practice star with his best opportunity for playing time yet.

Updating a previous item, WR Adrian Arrington did not dress for the Saints' preseason opener due to a knee injury.

Adrian Arrington has the early edge for the Saints' No. 4 receiver job.
Arrington has reportedly been "perhaps the biggest star of camp" so far, outshining rookie Nick Toon and second-year speedster Joe Morgan. The battle has a ways to go, but the winner here will be a name to keep in mind during the regular season, should Marques Colston, Lance Moore, or Devery Henderson go down.

Sun Jun 10 201214:41Three-man race for Saints No. 4 WR job
The competition between Adrian Arrington, Joseph Morgan, and rookie Nick Toon for the Saints' No. 4 wide receiver job is expected to go right down to Week 1.
Arrington, the veteran of the group at 26, has turned down offers from five other teams and is practicing in the slot. A torn meniscus cost undrafted Morgan the entire 2011 season. He's learning the Z, or flanker. Toon was a fourth-round pick this season and is being used as an X, or split end.

Tue Sep 13 201111:41Arrington to be Saints' No. 3 WR?
Adrian Arrington will serve as the Saints' No. 3 receiver if Lance Moore (groin) can't play Sunday.
The Saints have been bringing in players for workouts, but not wide receivers. They appear content with Devery Henderson, Robert Meachem and Arrington as their wideouts for Sunday's game against the Bears. Arrington has been with the Saints since 2008, is very familiar with the scheme and has flashed in the preseason. Extreme deep-leaguers can take a look.

Sun Aug 28 201114:52Adrian Arrington on the roster bubble
The New Orleans Times-Picayune projects WR Adrian Arrington to be left off the final roster.
Arrington got a break when preseason star Joseph Morgan went down with a meniscus injury, but he may still lose out to special teamer Courtney Roby. Arrington has impressed in previous preseasons, but "he hasn't shined as much this summer and he's battled injuries again."

Mon Jan 3 201100:07Arrington makes splash in active roster debut
Saints WR Adrian Arrington caught seven balls on nine targets for 79 yards in a Week 17 home loss to the Buccaneers.
Fresh from the practice squad, Arrington made his case to stick on the postseason roster with three first downs, and he provided Drew Brees and Chase Daniel with a reliable midrange target for most of the game. The former seventh-round pick is no lock to stay on the roster long term, but he has surely gotten the Saint coaching staff's attention with his breakout performance.
