McCown completed 31-of-38 passes for 310 yards and an interception Sunday against the Panthers.
Starting in place of the injured Drew Brees (shoulder), McCown completed 19 of his first 20 passes, but he was unable to find the end zone. His interception was costly in the fourth quarter, though it came on a fantastic play by Panthers cornerback Josh Norman. McCown connected with nine different receivers and hardly looked uncomfortable in the role. It remains unclear how long Brees will be sidelined, which means McCown could be back under center in Week 4 against the Cowboys.

McCown will fill in for Drew Brees (shoulder) on Sunday in Carolina, NOLA.com's Evan Woodberry reports.
The Saints are hopeful Brees will only miss the one game, so McCown's run as a starter may be short-lived. McCown hasn't started a game since 2011, and he'll be working with a shaky receiving corps against a tough defense.

McCown completed 8-of-14 passes for 117 yards in Sunday's preseason game against the Texans.
His performance was hardly noteworthy, but it appears that McCown has done enough to earn the right to back up Drew Brees at quarterback to start 2015, as he played well ahead of him primary competition, Ryan Griffin. Absent an injury to Brees, however, McCown will have no fantasy value.
Thu Feb 5 201511:44McCown re-signed with Saints on Thursday
McCown re-signed with the Saints on Thursday, Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports reports.
McCown has been in the league for over a decade, but has attempted just once pass in the last three NFL seasons. He'll once again look to compete to be the primary backup of starter Drew Brees.

McCown appears to be the clear-cut backup to Drew Brees at quarterback, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune. McCown started Thursday's preseason finale against the Ravens, and in his lone drive of the night, he completed all four of his passes, including a three-yard touchdown pass to Travaris Cadet.
McCown is a 10-year NFL veteran, and apparently the Saints feel more comfortable with him as the backup than second-year pro Ryan Griffin in case anything were to happen to Brees.
Wed Mar 26 201413:05Saints re-sign QB Luke McCown
Saints re-signed QB Luke McCown to a one-year contract.
McCown, 33 in July, has attempted just one pass since 2011. He has a 2-7 career record and 68.3 passer rating. McCown was mentioned as a possible replacement for Shaun Hill as Matthew Stafford's backup in Detroit to help install OC Joe Lombardi's offense. He'll return for another year as Drew Brees' No. 2.

Sat Mar 15 201415:37Lions could show interest in Luke McCown
ESPN.com's Michael Rothstein considers the Lions a possible landing spot for free agent Luke McCown.
The Lions are looking for an experienced backup behind Matthew Stafford and McCown has ties to OC Joe Lombardi after spending last season with the Saints. Re-signing Shaun Hill is another possibility. McCown has a career 68.3 quarterback rating and should only require a veteran-minimum contract.

Mon Jun 10 201315:39Luke McCown to open came ahead of Wallace
Luke McCown is expected to open Saints training camp taking most of the second-team reps behind Drew Brees.
McCown is trying to hold off Seneca Wallace and UdFA Ryan Griffin. Griffin has caught coach Sean Payton's eye, but is more likely a candidate for third string or the practice squad. McCown and Wallace are vying for one spot.

Mon Apr 1 201315:12Saints sign QB Luke McCown
Saints signed QB Luke McCown to a one-year contract.
McCown, 32 in July, quietly spent last season as Matt Ryan's backup. As things currently stand, McCown projects to back up Drew Brees this year because they are New Orleans' only two quarterbacks on the offseason roster. Chase Daniel left for Kansas City and roster yo-yo Sean Canfield hasn't been re-signed.

Luke McCown is listed as the No. 2 quarterback on the Falcons' Week 1 depth chart.

Mon Aug 27 201216:30Saints release veteran QB Luke McCown
Saints released QB Luke McCown.
McCown was signed as insurance during Drew Brees' contract standoff, but was never likely to be kept around following Brees' extension. Sean Canfield is now competing against himself for No. 3 duties behind Brees and Chase Daniel.

Thu Jun 7 201214:56Saints sign veteran QB Luke McCown
Saints signed QB Luke McCown, formerly of the Jaguars.
McCown recently worked with the team on a trial basis in five practices over three days. With Drew Brees skipping offseason practices, the Saints had just Chase Daniel and Sean Canfield available. Once Brees returns, McCown's run with the team will likely be over.

Tue Jun 5 201213:12Saints invite Luke McCown to minicamp
The Saints have invited free agent Luke McCoy to June minicamp on a tryout basis.
With Drew Brees still unsigned, the Saints just need a camp arm. The only other quarterbacks in camp are current first-teamer Chase Daniel and Sean Canfield. McCown, 31, opened last season as the Jaguars' starting quarterback.

Wed Mar 7 201214:12Jaguars expected to part with Luke McCown
The Florida Times Union expects the Jaguars to part ways with free agent QB Luke McCown this offseason.
McCown began last season as the Jaguars' starter, but was quickly removed in favor of Blaine Gabbert. The 30-year-old was incredibly timid in the pocket, checking down relentlessly and showing little to no zip on intermediate passes. McCown may struggle to land a third-string job before the start of camp.

Sun Nov 27 201116:11Luke McCown comes off bench in Week 12
Luke McCown came off the bench to complete 7-of-11 throws for 62 yards after replacing Blaine Gabbert in the fourth quarter of Sunday's Week 12 loss to the Texans.
He also scrambled once for nine yards. McCown made a couple of nice late-game throws to keep Jacksonville within striking distance during the 20-13 defeat, but it obviously wasn't enough. Gabbert has been so terrible that we wouldn't be surprised if McCown started in Week 13 against San Diego. Resist picking him out outside of two-quarterback leagues, however.

Sun Sep 18 201122:03Jaguars won't name quarterback for Week 3
Coach Jack Del Rio refused to name a Week 3 starting quarterback after yanking Luke McCown for Blaine Gabbert in Sunday's loss to the Jets.
McCown was pulled after posting a 1.8 quarterback rating with four interceptions and a yards-per-attempt average of 3.10. "I guess the immediate next question is what are you gonna do going forward, and my answer is that we'll discuss that as a staff," Del Rio said. "I made the decision in this ballgame to let Blaine (Gabbert) play and get some experience, and we'll go from there. ... We're gonna do the things that make sense for us to win on Sunday."

Sun Sep 18 201115:38McCown pulled early in fourth for Gabbert
Luke McCown completed just 6-of-19 passes for 59 yards, no touchdowns and four interceptions in Week 2 against the Jets.
You read that right. McCown had arguably the worst performance of any quarterback ever, so bad that he was pulled early in the fourth quarter in favor of rookie Blaine Gabbert. After a lackluster Week 1, McCown showed why he's a career clipboard holder, forcing multiple throws with little to no zip that were easily picked by the Jets defense. It remains to be seen who draws the start in Week 3, but you don't need us to tell you that McCown shouldn't be owned in any type of fantasy league.

Sun Sep 11 201118:12Luke McCown plays well enough to win Wk 1
Luke McCown completed 17-of-25 passes for 175 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions in the Jaguars' Week 1 win.
The Jaguars didn't ask McCown to carry their offense, "protecting" him with 42 rushing attempts and a short passing game. McCown's lone turnover was a lost fumble. The Jags will be able to withstand McCown's shortcomings if they dominate in the trenches and McCown avoids Grossman-like moments going forward, though we're skeptical either will happen long term. His starting job should still be safe heading to Week 2 against the Jets.

Tue May 24 201117:44McCown could open season as Jags' QB
Charlie Bernstein of Fox Sports Florida believes there's a "very real possibility" Luke McCown will open the season as the Jaguars' starting quarterback.
McCown outplayed David Garrard last summer before a torn ACL ended his season. Bernstein theorizes that Garrard will have to take a paycut from $8 million, since he's "clearly not in the future plans of the organization." We're not sure hot-seat coach Jack Del Rio will be so quick to cut ties with a quarterback that kept his team in contention deep into last season.
