Tue Nov 22 202218:41Ish Smith Questionable Against On Tuesday Evening
Denver Nuggets guard Ish Smith (calf) is questionable for Tuesday's meeting with the Pistons. The 34-year-old journeyman has missed his previous nine games with right calf tightness, so it wouldn't be surprising if he misses another one. With Jamal Murray doubtful due to health and safety protocols, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who has averaged 12.1 points off 51.4% shooting from deep this season, may see more work. Bones Hyland (illness), questionable with a non-COVID-related sickness, could also log plenty of minutes from off the bench, giving both men upside in all fantasy setups.

Wed Nov 16 202221:58Ish Smith Remains Out On Wednesday
Denver Nuggets guard Ish Smith (calf) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the New York Knicks. This shouldn't come as a surprise considering Smith hasn't played in two weeks. His absence won't make too big of an impact on the rotation. However, the Nuggets are going to be shorthanded for this game with Nikola Jokic, Aaron Gordon, and Bones Hyland sidelined. Bruce Brown should see around 30 minutes of action with the Nuggets shorthanded. He'll be an interesting streaming option in the short term.

Wed Jun 29 202214:01Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Ish Smith Traded To Nuggets
The Denver Nuggets have acquired guard/forward Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and point guard Ish Smith in a trade with the Washington Wizards. The Nuggets sent guard Monte Morris and forward Will Barton to Washington in the deal. KCP figures to be a key wing for the Nuggets in 2022-23. Last year, the versatile veteran averaged 13.2 points, 2.1 three-pointers and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 39% from three-point range. Smith, meanwhile, will help give the Nuggets point guard depth behind Jamal Murray, who is expected to make his long-awaited return at the start of the upcoming season.

Thu Dec 16 202119:46Ish Smith Not Listed On Friday's Injury Report
Charlotte Hornets guard Ish Smith is not listed on the injury report ahead of Friday's game with the Portland Trail Blazers. Smith is poised to make his return to the court for the first time since Dec. 5. LaMelo Ball is questionable and would take a big chunk of Smith's fantasy value if he is able to go. If not, Smith would likely assume the starting point guard role, assuming his conditioning is up to par.

Tue Dec 14 202120:12Ish Smith Won't Play Against Spurs
Charlotte Hornets guard Ish Smith has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the San Antonio Spurs. He'll remain sidelined due to the league's safety protocols. The Hornets have been crushed with players entering the COVID list. That being said, Terry Rozier, Miles Bridges, and Gordon Hayward will be asked to carry the workload. All three of them are worth looking at in DFS contests while the Hornets are shorthanded. It's unlikely Smith has much value once he returns. LaMelo Ball will hopefully return within a week, which would end Smith's value.

Mon Dec 6 202117:21Ish Smith Unavailable For Monday
Charlotte Hornets guard Ish Smith has been placed in the NBA's health and safety protocols. That means, Smith along with a handful of other players won't be available for Monday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Gordon Hayward and Miles Bridges should operate as the primary playmakers in this one. James Bouknight could finally see meaningful minutes, but he'll be a risky DFS option. Both Hayward and Bridges sound like reliable options for Monday's slate.

Mon Dec 6 202108:05Ish Smith Has A Good Game As Starter
Charlotte Hornets point guard Ish Smith made his first start of the season on Sunday against Atlanta and ended up having a fine game with 18 points, five rebounds, seven assists and one steal in a 130-127 win. He shot 8-for-14 from the field and 2-for-4 from downtown, giving away the ball just once in 32 minutes. Smith has taken over the starting role from LaMelo Ball, who is set to miss at least 10 days because of health and safety protocols. The veteran guard should provide some nice short-term value for fantasy managers. Smith now gets two consecutive games against the Sixers, who have been a mediocre defensive team against opposing point guards this season.

Tue Nov 5 201902:31Now with Wizards, ex-Celtics star Isaiah Thomas starts again
WASHINGTON (AP) — Discussing his first NBA start in more than 1½ years, Isaiah Thomas tried to play it cool at first — his face straight, his voice barely above a whisper, his words betraying no emotion or real significance whatsoever."Whether I start or come off the bench, I know who I am. I know I'm one of the best basketball players in the world," he said. "So, I mean, that doesn't affect me. I approach the game the same way."And that's when he paused. A smile spread."But, I mean," Thomas continued, "I am happy to be starting."The 5-foot-9 point guard was on the floor at the outset of the Washington Wizards' 115-99 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Monday night, and he finished with nine points, six assists and two rebounds in just under 25 minutes.None of those individual numbers really mattered all that much. What was important was what being a member of his team's first five symbolized: Thomas had worked his way back from a series of injuries, most noteworthy a serious hip problem... AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) — Blake Griffin's tone was serious, befitting a man who has had one of the best seasons of his career — but now faces the same old questions about his health.Griffin's status for Detroit's first-round series against Milwaukee isn't clear at the moment, but after he sat out the Pistons' crucial regular-season finale at New York on Wednesday night, it's clear his left knee problems are a significant issue heading into the playoffs. Detroit plays Game 1 at top-seeded Milwaukee on Sunday night."We're taking this day by day," Griffin said Saturday. "I'm not looking forward to a day that's not here right now in front of me. I'll sit with our training staff, and whoever else needs to be in on that decision, and make that each day."It's a tough situation for any athlete to go through — leading your team through the regular season, only to have your playoff participation threatened by an injury. This is the time of year when players and teams want to be at full strength,... [More]

DETROIT (AP) — Kemba Walker is keeping the Charlotte Hornets in the postseason pictureWalker scored 20 of his 31 points in the first half to help Charlotte build a big lead and they went on to beat the Detroit Pistons 104-91 Sunday in a possibly pivotal game with just two games remaining in the regular season for the playoff-hopeful teams. The Hornets (38-42) have won three straight to cling to their chances of rallying for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference."I'm happy to still be playing for something," Walker said. The Pistons have a lot at stake as well and yet they still seemed to lack effort at times, leading to some boos from their fans and criticism from at least one player."We didn't play for 48 minutes like we understood the implications and what this season is coming down to," Detroit star Blake Griffin said.Detroit (39-41) has lost four in a row to possibly plummet from being a sixth-seeded team to missing the postseason for a third consecutive year and the ninth time in... Smith (ankle) made his preseason debut Friday against the Knicks, seeing seven minutes of court time. He scored four points on 2-for-6 shooting from the field.
After missing Tuesday's exhibition opener against the 76ers due to the injury, Smith was able to get back on the court for Wednesday's practice. The veteran looks good to go on the health front, but with four points guards ahead of him on the depth chart at present, making the Wizards' opening night roster may be a struggle.

Smith has been limited in the Wizards' last three practices due to a sprained ankle, Jorge Castillo of the Washington Post reports.
As a result of the injury, it sounds like Smith could sit out Wednesday's preseason opener against the 76ers. Smith has five years of NBA experience as a member of eight different teams, but with a non-guaranteed contract attached to his name, getting healthy is paramount if he hopes to make it out of Wizards training camp with a roster spot.
Tue Aug 18 201515:46Smith remains free agent but still hopes to re-sign with Sixers
Smith remains a free agent but still hopes to re-sign with the Sixers, Dei Lynam of CSN reports.
Smith is currently working out in Charlotte, focusing on improving the skills that coach Brett Brown told Smith to emphasize in his offseason workouts. He's trying to improve his three-point shooting, free-throw shooting, and finishing at the rim. It's unclear whether or not the Sixers want Smith to come back. They currently have Tony Wroten (knee), Isaiah Canaan, and Scott Wilbekin on the roster and capable of playing point guard, but none of them seem to have a leg up on the starting job going into camp. If the Sixers aren't satisfied with their current point guards, it's possible Smith could find his way onto the roster. If he does, Smith would be a good source of assists if he earned enough minutes.

Smith is questionable for Wednesday's regular season finale against the Heat, Max Rappaport of the Sixers' official site reports.
Smith played in Monday's contest following a one-game absence because of the groin issue. Assuming no setbacks occurred during the contest, it's reasonable to believe he will play once again in Wednesday's tilt. However, his status should be updated as the opening tip-off draws nearer.
