Thu Aug 27 201519:46Schlitter designated for assignment by Cubs on Thursday
Schlitter was designated for assignment by the Cubs on Thursday, Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Despite a rough stint with the Cubs earlier in the season, Schlitter has pitched pretty well at Triple-A Iowa this season, posting a 1.09 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with 32 strikeouts over 41.1 innings. Unfortunately for the veteran, the club decided to take him off the 40-man roster following the addition of Fernando Rodney, diminishing his chances of making a return to the majors in September when the rosters expand.
Tue Jun 16 201516:39Schlitter optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday
Schlitter was optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, Bruce Levine of 670 The Score reports.
The move comes in response to the Cubs calling up yet another top prospect Tuesday in Kyle Schwarber. With Schwarber only expected to stick around for about a week, Schlitter's stint with the Triple-A club could be short-lived.

Schlitter got the final two outs in the 11th inning Sunday against the Reds to earn his first win of the season.
After being recalled prior to Sunday's game, Schlitter started his latest stint with the big league club off on the right foot, but still owns a 7.36 ERA on the season and carries very little value at the bottom of the Cubs' jumbled bullpen hierarchy.

Schlitter was recalled from Triple-A Iowa on Sunday.
Schlitter was optioned to Triple-A in mid-May after allowing six runs over 6.2 innings early in the season. He'll now receive a second chance in the Cubs' bullpen, but will likely pitch mostly in low-leverage situations.

Schlitter was optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.
Schlitter was swapped out Tuesday for outfielder Junior Lake, ending his second stint with the big club this season after just three days. The 29-year-old Schlitter has given up six runs on 12 hits -- including two home runs -- and two walks in 6.2 innings with Chicago so far in 2015.
Sat May 16 201513:28Schlitter recalled to Cubs
Schlitter has been recalled to the Cubs, Bruce Levin of 670thescore.com reports.
Schlitter has looked decent at Triple-A Iowa, pitching six innings and not giving up a run, but the Cubs still must be fairly desperate for an arm given how disastrous Schlitter's first run with the club was (9.53 ERA).
Mon Apr 27 201517:23Schiltter optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Monday
Schiltter was optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Monday.
Schlitter has struggled mightily to begin the season, allowing six runs on 10 hits (two home runs) and two walks over just 5.2 innings out of the bullpen. He will return to the minors and look to turn things around as he awaits another opportunity to pitch out of the major league pen.

Shlitter (0-2) struck out two in his inning of work, but was charged with the tiebreaking run in Thursday's loss to the Pirates.
Schlitter actually came in and escaped Edwin Jackson's trouble in the sixth, but gave up a double to Josh Harrison in the seventh before being pulled; Harrison came around to score on Phil Coke's watch. Schlitter now owns a 9.53 ERA and 2.12 WHIP in seven bullpen appearances this season, so it doesn't seem terribly likely that the Cubs will stick with him for long.

Schlitter was recalled from Triple-A Iowa on Friday.
Justin Grimm was placed on the 15-day disabled list due to elbow inflammation, allowing Schlitter to take over the final spot in the big-league bullpen. Schlitter just missed out on that spot at the end of spring training, and he'll likely see most of his work in low-leverage situations.
Wed Apr 1 201516:36Schlitter optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday
Schlitter was optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Patrick Mooney of CSN Chicago reports.
Schlitter spent most of 2014 as a member of the Cubs' bullpen, but his performance wasn't enough to solidify a role coming into camp. It appears he hasn't done enough in spring training to justify a spot either, so he'll begin the season at Triple-A. However, he remains one of the top candidates for the bullpen should a member suffer an injury or perform poorly.

Schlitter pitched 1.1 scoreless innings Sunday and is in contention for one of the remaining spots in the bullpen, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.
The Cubs are expected to have seven pitchers in their bullpen, and with Hector Rondon, Pedro Strop, Neil Ramirez, Jason Motte, and either Travis Wood or Edwin Jackson already locked in, there are probably only two spots up for grabs. Schiltter was terrible in his first two outings of the spring, giving up eight runs total, but he's settled down since then, giving up just four hits and one run in six innings.

Schlitter (shoulder) was reinstated from the disabled list and optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Sunday, Bruce Miles of the Daily Herald reports.
Schlitter posted a 3.47 ERA and 1.18 WHIP over 53 games with the Cubs this season, but will head to Triple-A upon activation. With September right around the corner, he could be an option to bring back up when the rosters expand.

Schlitter (shoulder) will begin his rehab assignment with the Cubs' Arizona League club, MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reports.
Schlitter likely won't be thrust into game action right away, since he was first placed on the DL on Sunday. Instead, he'll likely first have to play catch and toss a bullpen session or two before he's cleared for a rehab outing.

Schlitter was placed on the 15-day DL on Sunday with right shoulder inflammation, MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reports.
While not possessing dominant stuff this season with a meager 25 strikeouts in 49.1 innings, Schlitter has helped his cause by generating ground balls at a high clip, aiding him to a 3.47 ERA and 1.17 WHIP. It's uncertain how much time he'll have to miss as a result of the shoulder issue, but the Cubs have activated Neil Ramirez from the DL to take his spot in the bullpen.
