Dixon carried the ball seven times for 19 yards, and caught all three of his targets for 20 more yards Sunday in Tennessee.
Owners hoping for cheap production out of Dixon with LeSean McCoy (hamstring) and Karlos Williams (concussion) out had to be disappointed to see him cede the majority of the team's carries to Daniel Herron. Neither running back was particularly effective, and both will probably return to obscurity soon as the rest of the Bills backfield gets healthier.
Fri Oct 9 201513:13Anthony Dixon: Will Start Sunday
Dixon's teammates LeSean McCoy and Karlos Williams have both officially been ruled out for Sunday's game in Tennessee.
The team and coach Rex Ryan have been talking all week about "Boobie Time," and now he'll officially get that chance. On the bright side, Dixon will get first crack at getting the running game going against a Titans defense that hasn't been great against the run. On the flip side, Dixon doesn't have a track record of being a feature back - even though the colorful character will be the first to tell you he's perfect for the job - and there are already rumblings that that team will mix in Dan Herron and Cierre Wood if Boobie Time turns into Bust Time. That all said, he's the Buffalo back to own if you're in a Week 5 pinch.

Dixon's two teammates, Karlos Williams and LeSean McCoy, did not practice for the second straight day Thursday.
McCoy seems highly doubtful to play this week against Tennessee and Williams would need to practice Friday to have any chance. Bills coach Rex Ryan has already made statements this week implying Dixon is his Week 5 starter. No matter how Friday unfolds, Dixon will be a hot pickup this week as the run-oriented Bills prepare to face the Titans and their 22nd-ranked run defense.

Dixon's teammate Karlos Williams suffered a concussion during Sunday's loss to the Giants, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports.
Williams could still get through the league's concussion protocol in time for Sunday's game in Tennessee, plus there's a long shot that LeSean McCoy could rally from his hamstring injury. But we'll note that Dixon is the clear next back in the pecking order behind those two, so there's a chance he could be more than just a short-yardage guy this week.

Dixon did not receive a carry in Buffalo's loss to the Giants on Sunday. He was targeted three times in the passing game, hauling in two balls for 20 yards.
For those who thought Dixon might get some more action in the rushing game following the injury to LeSean McCoy, it was the Karlos Williams Show on Sunday, and even that wasn't much of a show. Dixon remains limited to short-yardage and special teams situations, though there's some talk McCoy could be out several weeks. Should anything happen to Williams, Dixon might get some added responsibility.

Dixon rushed three times for just one yard in Sunday's win over the Colts, including one of the Bills' two rushing touchdowns. He was not targeted in the passing game.
At least Dixon saw the field, though from the initial look of things it looks like Karlos Williams might be second in the pecking order behind Shady McCoy. If you're looking for the bright side of things, Bryce Brown was the running back that was made inactive, and offensive coordinator Greg Roman turned to Dixon a few times in short-yardage or goal-line situations.

Dixon (calf) will likely open the season as the third or fourth running back, Tyler Dunne of the Buffalo News reports.
There have been some conflicting reports lately regarding the Bills' running back situation. LeSean McCoy is obviously entrenched as the starter, but the depth behind him is still being sorted out. Running backs coach Anthony Lynn indicated that Karlos Williams will serve as McCoy's top backup, but the Bills' latest depth chart lists Dixon as the No. 2 back. Bryce Brown is in the mix as well, and at this point it appears all three could share backup duties behind McCoy.

Dixon says his injured calf is improving and he's hoping to play in Thursday's preseason finale, BuffaloBills.com reports. "I think it picked up a little bit. I kind of opened it up some on some of my runs," said the veteran running back. "I think it's 75 (percent) going towards 80. Now I've just got to keep on preparing like I'm still hurt. Keep on getting my treatments and keep on working out hard and keep my cardio sessions up and I'll be good."
With Fred Jackson cut Monday, the No. 2 running back behind LeSean McCoy is thought to be up for grabs between Dixon, Bryce Brown, and rookie Karlos Williams. All four backs, oddly enough, are currently suffering from one minor ailment or another.

The Bills cut Dixon's (calf) teammate Fred Jackson on Monday.
This must mean that Dixon and LeSean McCoy (hamstring) are close to a return, otherwise the Bills would have kept the healthiest of their preseason running backs (Jackson) around. Unless the Bills bring in someone new, Dixon will compete for the No. 2 running back role behind LeSean McCoy.
Sat Aug 29 201514:47Dixon (calf) inactive for Saturday's preseason game
Dixon (calf) is inactive for Saturday's preseason game.
The Bills had targeted Saturday's preseason game as a potential return date for Dixon, but coach Rex Ryan will hold him out rather than risking him having a setback with his calf injury.

Dixon (calf) took part in individual drills during Thursday's practice, wgr550.com reports.
As did Bryce Brown, with the duo both looking to establish roles in the Bills' backfield behind starter LeSean McCoy, who worked on the side during Thursday's session.

Dixon is hoping to return from a calf injury by the team's third preseason game, BuffaloBills.com reports. "That's accurate," said Dixon. "Pittsburgh is a maybe depending on how next week goes, and if not Pittsburgh then probably Detroit."
All five of Buffalo's running backs are out with injury in what's become a MASH unit, so whomever gets back first could get a boost in the RB pecking order. Dixon sat third behind LeSean McCoy and Fred Jackson prior to his getting sidelined.
Mon Aug 17 201513:39Dixon (calf) remains sidelined
Dixon (calf) remains sidelined, the Bills' official reports.
With Fred Jackson, Bryce Brown and Karlos Williams dealing with ailments as well, the Bills' only two healthy running backs at the moment are clear-cut starter LeSean McCoy and rookie Bronson Hill.
Wed Aug 5 201512:41Dixon dealing with pulled calf muscle
Dixon is dealing with a pulled calf muscle.
The report suggests that the injury could keep Dixon out for a few weeks, a possible outcome that would stall his quest to secure a key backup running back role behind starter LeSean McCoy.
Sun Nov 30 201419:29Dixon had six carries for 25 yards in Sunday's win over Browns
Dixon had six carries for 25 yards in Sunday's win over the Browns.
Dixon saw three more carries than Bryce Brown, but 15 fewer than starter Fred Jackson, who finished with 97 yards from scrimmage. Because Dixon is not involved in the passing game, he's extremely reliant on scoring a touchdown. In Week 14, Brown will have a tough matchup at Denver.

Dixon rushed 12 times for 54 yards and a score in Monday's win over the Jets. He also caught his only target for eight yards.
Not a bad outing considering Fred Jackson was active for this one. Jackson ended up with 10 carries for 32 yards and a score, while Bryce Brown carried six times for 20 yards. We will say that much of Dixon's action seemed to come when the game was out of hand in the Bills' favor. He's earned a role going forward, though we'd expect Jackson to take on more carries in future weeks. It's going to be tough to count on much from Dixon on a week-to-week basis given the Bills' tough remaining schedule coupled with the two other guys he needs to share the load with. And remember a healthy Jackson is the No. 1 guy.

With teammate Fred Jackson inactive for the second time in three games, Dixon gained 35 yards on 10 carries and 13 yards on two receptions in Thursday's 22-9 loss to the Dolphins.
Bryce Brown had the more desirable role, as the Bills largely relied on short passes, and had minimal success on the ground after halftime. Brown gained 57 yards on seven receptions and 14 yards on six carries, but a six-yard loss on a 3rd-and-1 toss play may have been his most memorable touch. Dixon should still be considered the better bet for goal-line and short-yardage work, if Fred Jackson (groin) misses another game next week against the Jets. Of course, the Bills only have three rushing touchdowns this season, including one from a fullback and one of a quarterback. Further taking away from Dixon's appeal, the Week 12 matchup favors Buffalo's passing game over the running game.

Dixon could be in line for an expanded role in the Bills' backfield Thursday against the Dolphins, with Fred Jackson inactive.
Bryce Brown will draw the start at running back for the Bills on Thursday, but Dixon, who recorded a team-high nine carries for 62 yards this past Sunday against the Chiefs, still figures to see his share of carries, so he could be worth a dart in deeper formats this week. Brown, in any case, figures to be more involved in the team's passing game, after recording six catches for 65 yards (to go along with his seven carries for 35 yards) in Week 10.
Thu Nov 13 201414:19Dixon could see expanded role in Bills' Week 11 backfield
With Fred Jackson reportedly unlikely to play Thursday against the Dolphins, Dixon could see an expanded role in the Bills' Week 11 backfield, ESPN.com reports.
Dixon recorded a team-high nine carries for 62 yards this past Sunday against the Chiefs, while Bryce Brown carried seven times for 35 yards and Jackson was limited to three carries for 10 yards. If Jackson sits Thursday, Dixon would presumably see his share of carries against a Miami defense that is allowing an average of 99 rushing yards per game, though Brown would figure to be more involved in the team's passing game, after recording six catches for 65 yards in Week 10.

Dixon had a team-high nine carries for 62 yards Sunday against the Chiefs.
Dixon led a three-headed attack with Bryce Brown (seven carries for 35 yards) and Fred Jackson (three carries for 10 yards), the latter of whom was returning from a groin injury. It was a decent showing, though he did not catch a pass while Brown caught six for 65 yards. If Jackson is able to get in a full practice next week, he will likely get a bigger workload in Week 11 against the Dolphins, which will only limit Dixon's fantasy upside.
