Tue Sep 8 201519:52Dwyer suspended for three games
Dwyer has been suspended for three games, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Dwyer was deactivated from the Cardinals' roster early last season due to his arrest on two counts of suspicion of aggravated assault. He eventually plead guilty to a charge of misdemeanor disorderly conduct, which was the spur for the three-game ban. However, the 26-year-old running back may not be of interest to any NFL organization at this point.
Thu Jan 29 201513:38Dwyer has plead guilty to misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge
Dwyer has plead guilty to a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge, Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports.
Dwyer will be sentenced to 18 months of probation, as well as community service. The 25-year-old back was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list back in September amidst allegations of aggravated assault, but he'll effectively plea to a lesser charge. It sounds like Dwyer will avoid jail time, but his future in the NFL remains unclear.
Thu Sep 18 201415:31Dwyer placed on reserve/non-football illness list by Cardinals
Dwyer has been placed on the reserve/non-football illness list by the Cardinals, the team's official site reports.
The Cardinals had previously deactivated Dwyer on Wednesday following his arrest on suspicion of aggravated assault for incidents that took place in July. Following Thursday's move, the running back remains out indefinitely.

The Cardinals have deactivated Dwyer following his reported arrest on two counts of suspicion of aggravated assault, ESPN.com reports.
"We became aware of these allegations this afternoon when notified by Phoenix police and are cooperating fully," the Cardinals indicated in a statement released Wednesday. "Given the serious nature of the allegations we have taken the immediate step to deactivate Jonathan from all team activities."

Dwyer had nine carries for 31 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Giants.
Dwyer's score came on a one-yard run in the first quarter, but any thought that he would dominate touches with Andre Ellington battling a foot injury quickly ended, as the latter finished with 15 carries for 91 yards, plus one catch for 10 receiving yards. Ellington's ailment is likely to hamper him for a few more weeks, but he has now played through it in back-to-back games, leaving Dwyer to backup duty. Up next for the Cardinals is a matchup against a tough 49ers defense, which isn't exactly ideal for a running back that gets limited touches per game.

Dwyer played 24-of-70 offensive snaps during Monday's win versus the Chargers, FOX Sports 910 Phoenix reports.
Dwyer played second fiddle to Andre Ellington, who fended off the muscle injury in his left foot to start and garner 36 snaps. Meanwhile, acting as Ellington's complement, Dwyer took seven carries for 20 yards and two receptions (on three targets) for eight yards. Despite receiving far fewer looks (six in all), Stepfan Taylor nearly matched Dwyer's output, with one run for five yards and three catches for 20 yards, yet Taylor added a five-yard touchdown reception to his line. Dwyer's touches are contingent upon Ellington's health, which remains in question entering Sunday's outing against the Giants in New York, as Ellington is donning a walking boot with hopes of taking the practice field this week.

Working as a complement to Andre Ellington, Dwyer had seven carries for 20 yards and three catches for 21 yards and a score.
Overall not an especially efficient day for Dwyer, and while the receiving touchdown salvaged his day, it could easily be the only one he gets this season. Stepfan Taylor had one carry for five yards and three catches of his own and will likely compete with Dwyer for market share in the backfield.
Fri Sep 5 201413:53Dwyer would likely start at running back for Cardinals
In the event that Andre Ellington's foot injury causes him to miss time, Dwyer would likely start at running back for the Cardinals, the Arizona Republic reports.
While NFL Network's Ian Rapoport suggests that there is still a chance that Ellington could play in Monday's season opener against the Chargers, such a favorable outcome is far from a lock, per the Arizona Republic report. Dwyer thus merits a speculative grab, especially by those who roster Ellington. Meanwhile, Stepfan Taylor is listed third on the Cards' current RB depth chart.

Dwyer is listed as the Cardinals' No. 2 running back in advance of Monday's opener against the Chargers, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
Other than a goal-line plunge for a touchdown during the second preseason game, Dwyer didn't outshine Stepfan Taylor, and vice versa. Overall, Dwyer took 14 carries for 24 yards (1.7 YPC), while Taylor was handed 22 totes for 43 yards (2.0) and caught one ball for 11 yards. Perhaps coach Bruce Arians prefers Dwyer's size (5-11, 229) when a tough yard or three is required. In any case, Dwyer is slated to give Andre Ellington a rest whenever one is required in Week 1 and beyond.

Dwyer received 21 snaps to Stepfan Taylor's nine during Sunday's preseason defeat to the Bengals, FOX Sports 910 Phoenix reports.
Neither player particularly impressed, with Dwyer dashing five times for seven yards, versus Taylor's 10 yards on two carries. Although Taylor rings in at 5-9, 214, Dwyer's 5-11, 229 frame is more conducive to handling goal-line reps, which was evident in the Cardinals' second preseason outing on Dwyer's short touchdown run. However, the latest snap count for the duo points to Dwyer garnering most of the reserve running back reps behind Andre Ellington, at least to start the season.

Dwyer seems to have emerged as the primary reserve running back to starter Andre Ellington, the Cardinals' official site reports.
On Saturday, Dwyer's five carries were spread about the Cardinals' first four drives, with Stepfan Taylor following him upon his removal. Neither option has impressed through two preseason tilts -- nine runs for 17 yards for Dwyer, versus Taylor's 17 carries for 26 yards and one catch for 11 yards -- but Dwyer punched in one of his goal-line chances for a touchdown this past weekend. Although the situation is subject to change, the job may be Dwyer's to lose at this point.

Dwyer rushed for 10 yards and a touchdown on five carries in Saturday's preseason game against the Vikings.
Despite coming away with a meager two yards per carry, Dwyer had an interesting night. He worked ahead of Stepfan Taylor as the No. 2 running back, and also poached a one-yard touchdown early in the game. Taylor, who is listed second on the depth chart, worked as such during the first preseason game. This battle seems to be closer than it first appeared, and the winner could enjoy the spoils of goal-line carries. It's also possible that the Cards could use both Dwyer and Taylor behind Andre Ellington, so the third man on the depth chart may even factor into the goal-line carries.

Working as the No. 3 running back, Dwyer gained seven yards on four carries in Saturday's preseason opener against the Texans.
Andre Ellington handled one drive, followed by Stepfan Taylor, and then Dwyer. Taylor managed a measly nine yards on nine carries, but Dwyer only fared marginally better. Taylor is still the favorite to work as Ellington's top backup, a role that could be quite important.

During minicamp, coach Bruce Arians said Jonathan Dwyer was "in better shape and he's running routes and catching the ball better than I remember."

Mon Jun 16 201411:31Jonathan Dwyer's role murky for Cardinals
Jonathan Dwyer said he's unsure exactly what his role will be with the Cardinals.
The Arizona Republic confirms the obvious -- that the running game will flow through Andre Ellington. But there are still touches to be had here, especially in short-yardage and goal-line sets. Dwyer, who was pursued in free agency by former Steelers assistant turned Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians, will be battling with Stepfan Taylor for that work. He's ran with everyone from the first- to third-stringers during OTAs.

Wed Mar 12 201421:37Cardinals sign Jonathan Dwyer to 1-year deal
Cardinals signed RB Jonathan Dwyer to a one-year contract.
Dwyer, 24, finished 2013 in Pittsburgh with 197 yards on 49 carries (4.0 YPC) and eight receptions. He's a devastating pass protector and excels in short yardage. Although Dwyer lacks a high ceiling, he's a sensible signing in Arizona due to his familiarity with Bruce Arians' offense. He's a better talent than Stepfan Taylor. If this is all the Cards add at tailback during the offseason, it'll be good news for Andre Ellington's fantasy outlook.

Sat Feb 8 201414:32Steelers could re-sign Jonathan Dwyer
ESPN.com's Scott Brown believes the Steelers will attempt to re-sign free agent Jonathan Dwyer.
Dwyer was Le'Veon Bell's primary backup in 2013, finishing with 49 carries and 197 yards. A short-yardage specialist, he could return as veteran insurance and shouldn't command much guaranteed money. The Steelers could also look to add depth at running back through the draft or free agency.

Sun Dec 29 201318:04Jon Dwyer finishes season with 197 yards
Jonathan Dwyer rushed three times for 10 yards in Pittsburgh's Week 17 win over the Browns.
An on-again/off-again short-yardage specialist, Dwyer finishes 2013 with 49 carries for 197 yards. An impending free agent, there's no guarantee Dwyer will be back in the Steel City next season. Le'Veon Bell has put a stranglehold on starting duties for the Steelers.

Sun Nov 10 201316:16Dwyer goes for 41 total yards in win
Jonathan Dwyer rushed eight times for 38 yards and caught a three-yard pass in Pittsburgh's Week 10 win over Buffalo.
Dwyer and Felix Jones (four carries, 16 yards) are the Steelers' "breather backs" behind Le'Veon Bell (25 touches). Dwyer would need a Bell injury to be worth grabbing in 12- and 14-team fantasy leagues.

Sun Nov 3 201320:45Jonathan Dwyer gets one carry in loss
Jonathan Dwyer rushed one time for 30 yards in Sunday's Week 9 loss at New England.
Dwyer also caught one pass for 23 yards. But the big plays weren't enough to earn him any playing time over rookie Le'Veon Bell, who is locked in as a workhorse. Dwyer is waiver-wire fodder.
