Mariani failed to catch any of his three targets in Sunday's win over the Chiefs, but did gain 20 yards on three punt returns.
Mariani was nearly credited with his first points of the season when he hauled in a target from Jay Cutler on a fourth-quarter two-point attempt, but after an official review, it was determined that the receiver failed to break the plane of the goal line with the ball. Since the reception came on a two-point attempt, Mariani officially has no catches on the season, but it was merely surprising that Cutler even targeted him in such a crucial scenario. Due to his low placement on the Bears' receiver depth chart, Mariani will continue to provide most of his utility on special teams. He's averaging 9.7 yards on seven punt returns and 26 yards on seven kickoff returns this season.

Mariani returned five kickoffs for 142 yards (28.4 average) in Monday's loss to the Saints.
After failing to get much out of their return game in the first half of the season, Mariani has at least made the Bears respectable in that department since taking over returning duties in Week 12. Mariani certainly doesn't have the game-breaking potential of former Bears returning Devin Hester, but his ability to field the ball cleanly and avoid mistakes should keep him in the club's plans for 2015.
Tue Nov 18 201417:52Mariani signed two-year deal with Bears on Tuesday
Mariani signed a two-year deal with the Bears on Tuesday.
Mariani will provide the team with assistance in the return game, but he is unlikely to be a major part of the offensive game plan out of the gate. The 27-year-old caught five passes with the Titans back in 2011, and has three career return touchdowns. The Bears waived safety Ahmad Dixon in a corresponding move.

The Titans have released Mariani, the Tennessean reports.
Injuries hampered Mariani the past couple of seasons, but he is a candidate to catch on elsewhere as a depth wideout/returner.

Fri Jul 19 201314:54Going to be tough for Mariani to make Titans
The Nashville Tennessean believes it will be a "challenge" for Marc Mariani to unseat Darius Reynaud as the Titans' return specialist.
Mariani suffered a compound leg fracture last preseason, and it left some wondering if the 2010 Pro Bowler's career was over. He's now nearing 100 percent, while coming off an "amazing" spring. Reynaud returned two punts and one kickoff to the house last season, and he was re-signed to a one-year deal.

Fri Apr 12 201310:10Marc Mariani thinks he'll be ready for camp
Titans KR/WR Marc Mariani (compound leg fracture) is "feeling good and feeling healthy," and expects to be ready for training camp.
Mariani's brutal leg break last preseason was the same injury suffered by Louisville's Kevin Ware in the Elite Eight. Mariani is just three years removed from a Pro Bowl campaign as a returner, but won't be guaranteed a roster spot after the Titans signed Kevin Walter and re-upped Darius Reynaud.

Thu Aug 23 201223:29Marc Mariani has compound leg fracture
Titans KR/WR Marc Mariani's Thursday night leg fracture was of the compound variety.
It was a brutal break and will require extensive recovery. The good news for Mariani is it occurred before the season started, as opposed to in November or December. Mariani underwent immediate, emergency surgery after suffering the injury. We suspect he won't be back until 2013 training camp at soonest.

Thu Aug 23 201220:29Titans KR/WR Marc Mariani fractures left leg
Titans KR/WR Marc Mariani was carted off the field with a fractured left leg in the first quarter of Thursday night's preseason game against Arizona.
Mariani was down for several minutes before they finally got him off on the cart, and was clearly in a ton of pain as he was taken away. Replay showed a brutal injury; Mariani's left leg was clearly fractured and pointing in the wrong direction. Darius Reynaud may have sewn up a roster spot already, but he's locked in now. Mariani is a shifty, explosive return specialist.

Sat Jun 30 201211:05Mariani slowed by high-ankle sprain in '11
Titans KR/WR Marc Mariani says he was slowed by a high-ankle sprain last season.
Mariani didn't miss a game after suffering the injury in the preseason, but says it sapped his explosiveness. Mariani was still one of the league's better return specialists last season, but his numbers were down from his Pro Bowl rookie campaign. Drawing praise for his work as a receiver this offseason, Mariani's roster spot should be secure.

Thu Jun 21 201214:21Munchack impressed with Mariani's receiving
Coach Mike Munchack was impressed with KR Marc Mariani's receiving skills in this week's minicamp.
"He's one of the guys that when the ball went up, it seemed like he came down with it, or he found a way to get open," said Munchak. "His routes were sharp ... He was fun to watch." Mariani's strong showing will certainly help in his quest to nail down a roster spot, but he's not going to be higher than fifth on the depth chart at receiver.

Mon Jan 3 201110:58Mariani breaks single season return record
Titans rookie KR Marc Mariani broke Derrick Mason's single-season franchise record of 1,794 combined kickoff and punt return yards.
Marini took home the record on a 47-yard first quarter return. It's been 10 years since the Titans have had a solid return man and Mariani more than held off fellow rookie Damian Williams. Double M is positioned to enter training camp alone atop the return depth chart.
Fri Sep 10 201013:37Mariani expected to return kicks for Titans
Marc Mariani, not Damian Williams, is expected to be the primary kick returner in Sunday's game against the Raiders.
The Titans have announced their plans, but Mariani is now atop the depth chart on kickoffs and punts after outproducing Williams in preseason action. Nothing is set in stone here, so Williams could re-enter the picture depending on Mariani's performance.

Mariani's 4.48 forty time at Montana's Pro Day put on the Titans' draft borad. Even with experience in the return game, he'll have to outplay both Paul Williams and Dominique Edison just to get to sixth on the depth chart.
