Dickerson (Achilles) has been placed on IR, the Titans' official site reports.

The backup tight end was never expected to contribute much with at least three guys in front of him on the depth chart, but it's sad to see that Dickerson's season is essentially over before it started.

Dickerson suffered a torn Achilles' tendon on Tuesday, wkrn.com reports.

The backup tight end did not record a catch with the Titans in 2014, and was not expected to bring significant pass-catching value in 2015. This injury should have little impact on the top of the team's tight end depth chart, where Delanie Walker and Anthony Fasano (in that order) remain the favorites for targets.

To replace Dickerson, who was injured in practice last week, the Titans have signed fellow tight end Chase Coffman.
