Atkins had a sack that also forced a fumble in Sunday's win over the Raiders.
Atkins wasn't all the way back to his dominating form in 2014 after suffering an ACL tear in 2013, but if Sunday is any indication, he might be in line for a bigger year.

Atkins was a rare bright spot in Monday's preseason debacle against the Bucs, recording a sack and four pressures in 24 snaps.
Atkins returned from a torn ACL last season but wasn't his dominant self. Now with a full season separating him from his recovery, there's more reason to hope that he can create more of a pass rush, something the Bengals desperately need.
Fri Nov 7 201411:23Atkins diagnosed with slight hyperextension of right knee
Atkins has been diagnosed with a slight hyperextension of his right knee, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports.
The source says the injury is a minor one, which is welcome news considering the bleaker alternatives involving Atkins' surgically repaired knee. With a few extra days to heal before Cincinnati's next game Nov. 16 against New Orleans, Atkins may not have to miss any time.
Thu Nov 6 201423:03Geno Atkins: Injures Surgically-Repaired Knne
Atkins left Thursday's game against the Browns with an injury to his surgically-repaired right knee, according to CBS Sports' Tracy Wolfson.
Atkins is only 12 months removed from surgery to repair a torn ACL, and while he hasn't quite been his usual self this season, he's played in each of Cincinnati's nine games. Devon Still and Brandon Thompson figure to play added snaps in Atkins' absence.
Sun Sep 14 201411:54Atkins (foot) active for Sunday's game against Falcons
Atkins (foot) is active for Sunday's game against the Falcons, Coley Harvey of ESPN.com reports.
Atkins alleviated any concerns he would suit up Sunday by taking part in Thursday's practice in a full capacity. He'll look to disrupt the Falcons' ground game while also supplying some pressure on quarterback Matt Ryan.
Fri Sep 12 201417:07Atkins (feet
Atkins (feet, probable) practiced fully Friday, the Bengals' official site reports.
Atkins is thus on track to suit up for Sunday's game against the Falcons, though it's unclear if the defensive tackle is in line to see a full workload in the contest.
Thu Sep 11 201417:34Atkins (feet) practiced in limited fashion Thursday
Atkins (feet) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday, ESPN.com reports.
More on Atkins' status Friday, but his return to practice, albeit in a limited fashion, bodes well for the defensive tackle's chances of suiting up Sunday against the Falcons.
Wed Sep 10 201418:32Atkins (feet) sat out Wednesday's practice
Atkins (feet) sat out Wednesday's practice, the Bengals' official site reports.
The report suggests that the signs point to Atkins playing Sunday against the Falcons, though some practice participation Thursday on his part would provide reassurance on that front.
Sun Sep 7 201420:37Geno Atkins likely just fatigued
Geno Atkins, who left Sunday's game against the Ravens on a cart, was likely just fatigued, the Cincinnati Enquirer's Paul Dehner reports.
Fatigue doesn't usually require a cart, but Atkins was presumably dehydrated, so the Bengals may have just been playing things safe. While it may be that he isn't yet back to full strength after last season's torn ACL and a limited preseason, Atkins will likely be able to play next week against the Falcons.

Atkins is expected to start Sunday night's preseason game against the Cardinals, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Atkins was rested during Friday's practice, but it appears as though the stage is set for Atkins -- who is bouncing back from the torn ACL that he suffered last October -- to play in a few series during Sunday's contest.
Wed Aug 20 201414:46Atkins' (knee) status for Sunday's third preseason game yet to b...
Atkins' (knee) status for Sunday's third preseason game is yet to be determined, although he is fully expected to play in the Bengals' regular season opener Sept. 7 versus the Ravens.
Atkins is yet to play since tearing his ACL last October, but the defensive tackle has been practicing, albeit in an unknown capacity beyond individual drills, since coming off Cincinnati's PUP list July 30. As one of the league's elite defensive linemen, Atkins' return has been handled carefully to ensure he's ready to go once the results matter. However, it could be worthwhile for Atkins to gain game experience during the preseason, so he might be involved in the Bengals' third preseason contest Sunday. Expect his status to be updated as the week unfolds.

Atkins has been activated from the PUP list in advance of Wednesday's practice, the Bengals' official site reports.
Expect Atkins, who is bouncing back from an ACL tear that he sustained on Oct. 31 last year, to be worked back in gradually, in both practice and in preseason action, with an eye toward preparing him for the Bengals' regular season opener on Sept. 7. Prior to suffering his season-ending injury last season, Atkins had recorded 20 tackles and six sacks in nine games. When healthy, he's a key cog in the Bengals' team D and a serviceable IDP out of the DL slot as well.
Wed Jul 30 201410:21Bengals DT Atkins (knee) cleared to practice
Bengals DT Geno Atkins (knee) has been cleared to practice and removed from the active/PUP list.
There had previously been precious little information regarding Atkins' recovery from his Week 9 torn ACL. He'll likely be limited to side work and individual drills for the next few days or so and sit out most of the preseason, but Atkins should be all systems go for Week 1. Atkins' return is a massive boost for the defense.

Tue Jul 22 201412:26Geno Atkins (knee) expected to play Week 1
Bengals DC Paul Guenther said he expects Geno Atkins (knee, active/PUP) to be ready for Week 1.
Coach Marvin Lewis said they'll hold Atkins on the active/PUP list for a few days to open training camp just to "get a look at him." It sounds like he'll be participating in practices sometime within the next week or so. The Bengals will likely limit Atkins' snaps during the preseason in an effort to have him 100 percent for the opener.

Mon Jul 21 201416:02Geno Atkins (ACL) beginning camp on PUP list
Bengals placed DT Geno Atkins (knee) on the active/PUP list.
Joining him there will be OG Clint Boling (knee), LB Marquis Flowers (hamstring), CB Leon Hall (Achilles), P Kevin Huber (neck), WR Colin Lockett (hamstring), DT Zach Minter (back), DT Devon Still (back) and WR Ryan Whalen (hamstring). Updates on Atkins' status have been scarce, but he's now months removed from blowing out his knee. He could end up missing the entire preseason, but should still be considered better than 50-50 to be ready for Week 1. His status will be updated in the coming weeks.

Sat May 31 201419:29Geno Atkins uncertain to be ready for Week 1
ESPN Bengals blogger Coley Harvey reports "it's anyone's guess" whether DT Geno Atkins (ACL surgery) will be ready for the start of the season.
Atkins is still just six months removed from his ACL tear and remains questionable for training camp. Updates on his status have been hard to come by, but Atkins is expected to avoid opening the year on the reserve/PUP list. Devon Still and Brandon Thompson are getting reps at nose tackle during OTAs.

Fri Feb 7 201417:22Geno Atkins on track to participate in camp
The Bengals' website expects DT Geno Atkins (knee) to be ready "at some point" in training camp.
Atkins hasn't had any setbacks in his recovery from ACL surgery, but is just three months removed from the injury and will be in a race to get cleared for the start of camp. He's expected to avoid opening the season on the reserve/PUP list and should be ready for Week 1. An All-Pro in 2012, Atkins had 20 tackles and six sacks over nine starts before going down. He graded out as the No. 11 defensive tackle by Pro Football Focus.

Wed Jan 8 201421:04Geno Atkins will be in race for camp
The Bengals' website expects Bengals DT Geno Atkins' (right ACL surgery) training camp availability to be a "tight fit."
Atkins suffered his ligament tear on Halloween and will likely open 2014 training camp on the active/PUP list. The Bengals are likely still counting on Atkins to be ready for Week 1. Despite the in-season losses of top pass rusher Atkins and top cover corner Leon Hall (Achilles'), Cincinnati still finished the regular season ranked No. 3 in total defense. It's a testament to DC Mike Zimmer, who ought to be rewarded with a head-coaching job.

Mon Nov 4 201311:44Geno Atkins placed on season-ending IR
Bengals placed DT Geno Atkins (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Atkins tore the ACL in his right knee on Thursday night. In a best-case scenario, the Bengals will get the All-Pro back for Week 1 of next season. Interior lineman have a far better chance of returning to form off this injury than a skill player. Atkins' fourth NFL season ends with 20 tackles and six sacks in nine games. He was signed to a six-year, $56 million contract that included $31 million guaranteed just two months ago.

Fri Nov 1 201312:26Bengals confirm torn ACL for DT Geno Atkins
Coach Marvin Lewis confirmed DT Geno Atkins tore his right ACL on Thursday night and is done for the season.
It's a crushing blow and is quite possibly the biggest defensive injury of the season. A year after registering 12.5 sacks and 53 tackles, Atkins was on his way to posting another All-Pro season. His year ends with 20 tackles and six sacks. Atkins was sitting at No. 5 in Pro Football Focus' defensive tackle ratings. The Bengals are expected to search the street for defensive tackle help. Richard Seymour is a name to keep an eye on. That's pure speculation on our part, though. Seymour wants money and the Bengals have plenty of cap space.
