Tue May 28 201323:30Bucs S Grimm popped for public drunkenness
Bucs S Cody Grimm was arrested for public intoxication in Leesburg, Va. early Sunday morning.
According to the Washington Post, it's the second time in three months that Grimm has been popped for public drunkenness. Both charges are misdemeanors, but the injury-prone special teamer was already on the roster bubble going into the final year of his rookie contract. He's not doing himself any favors.

Mon Apr 22 201321:49Cody Grimm agrees to $500,000 salary cut
Bucs S Cody Grimm agreed to a $500,000 salary slash to keep his roster spot in Tampa Bay.
The Bucs have loads of cap space, but GM Mark Dominik is smartly still keeping tabs on every small detail, refusing to overpay even for bottom-of-the-roster players. Grimm was owed $1.2 million and slashed his salary to $500,000. A 12-game starter his first two seasons in the league, Grimm is now entrenched as a backup and special teamer. He'll compete to keep his roster spot in camp.

Mon Jun 4 201209:50Cody Grimm practicing as backup safety
Cody Grimm is practicing as first-round pick Mark Barron's primary backup at strong safety at Bucs OTAs.
The Bucs no longer use safeties interchangeably, so Grimm is now strictly a strong safety. Ahmad Black is FS Ronde Barber's backup. Grimm was a solid starter his first two seasons, but durability has been a big concern. He's missed 18-of-32 possible games so far in his career. He'll be a special teamer in 2012.

Tue Sep 27 201118:44Bucs lose FS Grimm for the entire season
Bucs placed FS Cody Grimm (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Grimm tore ligaments on a play in which his knee knocked Geno Hayes unconscious while hitting the linebacker's helmet. The move to end his season suggests Grimm tore the ACL in addition to the MCL in his right knee. Larry Asante and Corey Lynch are candidates to fill in this week, though Tanard Jackson may be returning from suspension shortly. Grimm has exceeded expectations as a 2010 seventh-rounder, but he's now ended up on injured reserve in both seasons with the Bucs.

Mon Sep 26 201112:26Cody Grimm may not be done for season
Updating a previous item, Bucs FS Cody Grimm (knee) may not be lost for the season after all.
The St. Petersburg Times reported early Monday that Grimm has a torn ACL, but coach Raheem Morris was more optimistic in his day-after press conference. Morris said Grimm "definitely" has an MCL injury, but may have avoided an ACL tear. The Bucs will turn to Larry Asante and Corey Lynch for an in-practice battle at free safety until Grimm returns. It appears the Bucs have no intentions of activating suspended FS Tanard Jackson at this time.

Bucs S Cody Grimm is struggling in his return from a broken ankle early in camp.
It's nice that Grimm is practicing, but his burst isn't there yet and he's struggled to hang with tight ends in coverage. "I wouldn't say I'm 100 percent for sure," Grimm acknowledged. "It is definitely sore and stuff. But the only way to get the soreness out is to run on it."

Sun Jul 3 201114:29Cody Grimm expects to be ready for camp
Bucs S Cody Grimm (broken ankle) expects to be ready for training camp in August.
Grimm wasn't limited in recent player-organized workouts, so he should be good to go next month. He'll be in line for the starting free safety job if Tanard Jackson's suspension carries over to the 2011 season.

Sun May 15 201112:46Cody Grimm (ankle) progressing nicely
Bucs S Cody Grimm believes he is 85-to-90 percent recovered from the broken ankle he suffered last November.
A seventh round pick last spring, Grimm ended up starting nine games for the Bucs after Tanard Jackson was suspended for the season. He played well, tallying 57 tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble in 11 games. As long as he's healthy, he's in line for a lot of snaps in 2011.

Mon Nov 29 201012:20Grimm headed for injured reserve
The Bucs will place FS Cody Grimm (broken left fibula) on injured reserve, ending his season.
It's a major blow to the Bucs' playoff hopes. Grimm was sustaining solid play at a position that the Bucs have really struggled with over the past couple of seasons. Liability Sabby Piscitelli is the most likely replacement.

Sun Nov 28 201020:25Report: Broken fibula for FS Cody Grimm
Stephen Holder of the St. Petersburg Times passes along word that Bucs FS Cody Grimm suffered a broken fibula rather than an ankle injury in Sunday's game against the Ravens.
Either way, it looks like Grimm is done for the season after being carted off Sunday. It's a big loss for the Bucs, as Grimm was hitting his stride and his replacement is likely to be burnable safety Sabby Piscitelli.

Sun Nov 28 201017:13Bucs FS Cody Grimm carted off with leg injury
Bucs FS Cody Grimm was carted off the field with what appeared to be a serious left leg injury in the second quarter of Sunday's game.
Two players flew into the back of Grimm's leg, trapping it and bending it backward. It wouldn't be a surprise if the injury ends up being a serious ligament tear or broken bone. Grimm's absence is a big blow to the Bucs' defense as he had been excelling after a slow start in late September.
Wed Sep 29 201015:15Cody Grimm defended by coach Morris
Bucs coach Raheem Morris defended new starting FS Cody Grimm after the rookie struggled in his first NFL start in Week 3.
Grimm missed numerous tackles and was victimized on a Mike Wallace 40-plus yard touchdown. "(Grimm) played too well the rest of the game to even talk about that right now," said an apparently delusional Morris. The Bucs will return from their Week 4 bye as a pass defense upon which to feast.

Thu Sep 23 201014:16Rookie Grimm to fill in at free safety
Coach Raheem Morris announced that rookie Cody Grimm will start at free safety with Tanard Jackson suspended.
In case you were wondering if Sabby Piscitelli remains in the doghouse. Grimm, the son of newly minted Hall of Famer and current Cardinals assistant Russ, figures to be a major liability in coverage after converting from linebacker at Virginia Tech. Fortunately for the Bucs, the first test is an easy one with Charlie Batch starting for the Steelers this week.

Thu Jul 29 201014:46Bucs do deal with Cody Grimm
Buccaneers agreed to terms with seventh-round S/LB Cody Grimm on a four-year contract.
Grimm, the son of Russ, was a "box safety" in the truest sense at Virginia Tech, and offers tremendous potential as a difference-making special teamer. The latter will be his focus in Tampa Bay if he can hold onto a roster spot.
