Vereen caught all eight of his targets for 86 yards, including some key grabs on the team's game-winning drive. He also rushed five times for 24 yards.

Vereen is good for only a handful of carries per game, but his heavy use in the passing game makes him far more valuable in PPR leagues.

Vereen rushed for 21 yards on five carries in Sunday's win over Buffalo.

Vereen has now been held without a reception in consecutive games after catching a pass in 23 of his last 24 games as a member of the Patriots. Unlike Week 3's contest against Washington where he was targeted three times, Vereen didn't see a pass come his way in Buffalo. It is too early to make any sweeping claims about Vereen's role in New York as he caught 12 passes in the team's first two games, but given that he ranks third on the Giants' pecking order for carries, he is likely no better than a bye-week fill-in until further notice.

Vereen gained 23 yards on six carries in Thursday's 32-21 win over the Redskins, but he only drew three targets and didn't catch any passes.

With the Giants holding a multi-score lead for most of the night, the gameflow didn't work out in Vereen's favor. He still logged 22 snaps, compared to 23 for Andre Williams and 21 for Rashad Jennings, according to Pro Football Focus. Vereen will face a tough Buffalo defense on the road in Week 4, but it's a matchup that should be more favorable than Thursday's for his snap count and workload.

Vereen caught all eight of his targets for 76 yards in Sunday's game against the Falcons. He also gained 19 yards on six carries in the 24-20 defeat.

Despite the mild rushing total, Vereen showed his trademark effectiveness in the passing game, finishing second on the team in targets and receiving yardage. No wideout besides Odell Beckham topped 17 yards receiving on the day and Vereen will likely remain heavily involved in that capacity until another receiver steps up. The Giants will welcome the Redskins to town in Week 3.

Vereen had three carries for 14 yards and led the team in receiving with four catches on five targets for 46 yards.

The Giants didn't see a lot of offensive snaps because they scored two defensive touchdowns, and the Cowboys milked the clock on offense. Vereen should continue to see work in the passing game and serve as an occasional change-of-pace option on the ground.

Vereen gained 13 yards on three carries and 14 yards on one reception in Saturday's preseason game against the Jaguars.

Vereen served as the passing-down back with the first-team offense and also got a few early-down snaps. His four touches came on four consecutive plays, helping to set up a field goal. Vereen's usage could vary significantly week-to-week based on matchups and game context, but at the very least he's locked in as a key piece for third downs.

Vereen is listed as third on the team's depth chart, the Newark Star-Ledger reports.

This doesn't mean too much as Vereen should largely be used on passing downs, while Andre Williams and Rashad Jennings see most of their touches on the ground.

Vereen could have a larger role than initially expected due to his prowess in pass protection, ESPN's Dan Graziano reports.

With LT William Beatty (pectoral) out for five-to-six months, the Giants may place a greater emphasis on the pass-protection skills of their running backs. Vereen still has plenty of competition for snaps and touches, but his reputation as a receiver and blocker makes him the favorite to get most of the playing time on passing downs. Rashad Jennings, who is expected to get most of the early-down work, is a capable third-down back but not on Vereen's level. Andre Williams has the size to be an asset in pass protection, but his poor hands and lack of speed make him entirely nonthreatening as a receiver.

Vereen has reached an agreement with the Giants, Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports reports.

Rashad Jennings did a nice job on passing downs last season, but the Giants apparently want more of a receiving threat for the role. Jennings' injury history may also be a factor, especially with backup running back Andre Williams offering very little as a receiver. The move to New York probably won't do much for Vereen's fantasy value, as the Giants have a strong wideout group of Odell Beckham, Victor Cruz and Reuben Randle, along with a backfield that already includes Jennings and Williams. Vereen probably won't get many carries, and there will be plenty of competition for targets.

Vereen caught 11-of-12 targets for 64 yards, adding four carries for 13 yards, in Sunday's 28-24 Super Bowl win over the Seahawks.

Facing the vaunted Seattle defensive backfield, the Patriots opted for a gameplan heavy on short passes, playing right into Vereen's hands. The team had a somewhat similar gameplan against the Ravens a few weeks back, but the matchup with Baltimore dictated targeting a weak cornerback group. Sunday evening, New England largely focused on Vereen and receivers running routes from the slot, while LeGarrette Blount had a modest 14-40-0 rushing line. Vereen can become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, but a new contract with the Patriots probably makes sense for both parties. While his week-to-week production is highly variable, Vereen has a combination of receiving and pass-blocking skills that the Patriots covet. If he's back in New England, Vereen will be paired with an early-down power back, possibly Blount.

Vereen carried once for two yards and caught three passes for 41 yards in Sunday's 45-7 win over the Colts in the AFC Championship Game.

Meanwhile, fellow RB LeGarrette Blount carried 30 times for 148 yards in the game, with three TDs. Look for Blount to continue to head the Patriots' rushing attack in Super Bowl XLIX, with Vereen on track to continue to work in a change-of-pace role.

Vereen, who appeared to take a hard hit to the helmet in the fourth quarter of this past Saturday's win over the Ravens, is not listed on the Patriots' injury report in advance of Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Colts.

In a game where Patriots' running backs accounted for just seven carries, Vereen ran just once for six yards last Saturday, while catching four passes for 39 yards. While we'd expect the team to run more on Sunday, with LeGarrette Blount, Brandon Bolden and perhaps Jonas Gray also in the team's backfield mix, Vereen remains best suited to help out those in PPR formats.

Vereen, who ran twice for one yard and caught three passes for 14 yards in Sunday's regular season finale, was on the field for 28-of-67 snaps on offense in the contest, ESPN.com reports.

As the playoffs approach, Vereen slots in as a change-of-pace option in a New England backfield that also includes power backs LeGarrette Blount and Jonas Gray, along with Brandon Bolden in reserve. It's a key role in the team's offense, but in the 2014 campaign, it led to somewhat disappointing fantasy numbers, based on preseason expectations. Overall, Vereen carried 96 times for 391 yards and two TDs, while catching 52 passes for 447 yards and three TDs in 16 games. The fourth-year running back is slated to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason and it's unclear how aggressive the Patriots will be in retaining him, especially with rookie James White waiting in the wings.

Vereen (ankle) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Bills.

With Jonas Gray inactive for the contest, the Patriots will roll with a Week 17 backfield comprised of Vereen, LeGarrette Blount, Brandon Bolden and James White. Neither are high-percentage bets in Sunday fantasy lineups, though with the Patriots having nothing to gain, seeding wise, this week, it's plausible that White could see some of the snaps on offense normally allocated to Vereen.

While we'd expect Vereen to suit up Sunday, with the Patriots having clinched the top playoff seed in the AFC, it's tough to predict how the Patriots (who will be without RB Jonas Gray on Sunday) will divide up their Week 17 carries. Assuming he is active Sunday, Vereen thus remains a hit-or-miss fantasy option.

More on Vereen's status as the week continues, though with no reported setbacks in Week 16, we suspect that he'll be healthy enough to suit up Sunday against the Bills, though it's a game with no playoff seeding implications for the Patriots.

Vereen's fantasy upside continues to hinge on his usage in the Patriots' passing game, an area in which he has been used sporadically over his past three games - a span in which he has combined for five catches 68 yards -- though on Sunday he could see a few more looks on that front, with target-gobbling wideout Julian Edelman inactive.
