INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Orlando Magic waived Adreian Payne, the latest fallout from in has become a crisis at Michigan State.Magic coach Frank Vogel confirmed the move Saturday, declining further comment other than to wish Payne well.Payne was part of an ESPN report , detailing sexual assault allegations against former Spartans. The 6-foot-10 forward was drafted No. 15 overall in 2014 by Atlanta out of Michigan State and was traded during his rookie season to Minnesota.The Magic signed him to a two-way contract last August. He played just five games for Orlando in the NBA and spent much of the season with its G League team.Payne has averaged 4 points and 2.9 rebounds over 107 NBA games.

Payne averaged 14.2 points (40% FG, 38% 3Pt, 70% FT), 1.8 assists, 8.4 rebounds, and 1.2 steals in 31 minutes per game through five Summer League games.

Payne showcased his ability to stretch the floor in Summer League, something he was known for at Michigan State but struggled with his rookie season. As of now, Payne is buried on the depth chart, but if he continues to show improvement he could carve out a rotation role at power forward. Owners should keep an eye on him during the preseason to better gauge his value.

Payne will play with the Wolves' Summer League team in Las Vegas.

After spending most of the first half of the season in the D-League as a member of the Hawks, Payne was dealt to the Timberwolves in February. In Minnesota, he was given an opportunity to see consistent minutes, and he finished the season with averages of 7.2 points and 5.4 rebounds in 24.8 minutes per game. He shot just 42 percent from the floor, however, and did not showcase the floor-stretching ability (1-8 3Pt) that was often on display at Michigan State last year. Payne will need to showcase significant all-around improvement to warrant a major role going forward, particularly when the Wolves are healthy, which was not often the case in 2014-15.

Payne scored 13 points with nine rebounds in 35 minutes while starting at power forward in Sunday's loss to Charlotte.

Payne could be set for some significant minutes down the stretch with several T-Wolves players hurt and the team unlikely to push their return as they chase a top draft pick.

Payne will start Monday's game against the Nets, Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Payne is getting the nod for Kevin Garnett (knee). In five starts this season, Payne has averaged 9.8 points (on 39 percent shooting), 6.8 rebounds, and 0.8 assists in 28 minutes.

Payne contributed just six points and one rebound in 20 minutes against the Thunder on Friday.

Payne has seen a few consecutive stints in the starting lineup but he still doesn't have any job security under coach Flip Saunders. Either way, Payne only saw 20 minutes of action Friday and that's hardly enough time to amount much production.

Payne figures to get the start at the four Friday, the Star Tribune's Jerry Zgoda reports.

Kevin Garnett's status took a hit throughout the day, as he was apparently dealing with too much pain in his knee Friday to be able to suit up. Payne and Gorgui Dieng now become borderline must starts in daily leagues as Nikola Pekovic (ankle) is also out Friday.

Payne will likely head the the bench Friday with Kevin Garnett (rest) returning to the lineup.

Payne started the previous two games due to Garnett being held of the lineup. Since Garnett was brought over to the Timberwolves at the NBA trade deadline he has been the starting power forward, so the rookie Payne will probably be sent to the bench. Even with Garnett playing, Payne will still have a role off the bench as Garnett's minutes will be closely monitored.

Payne started in Wednesday's game against the Suns where he compiled 10 points, three rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 29 minutes.

Payne has now started in two-straight games for coach Flip Saunders and it seems that he may have the edge over Gorgui Dieng for the time being. However, Payne is still unproven for the most part, so it may be wise to see another performance out of him before picking him up at this point in the season.

Payne is starting Wednesday's game at Phoenix.

Payne is getting the nod for a resting Kevin Garnett. Since joining the Timberwolves at the trade deadline, Payne has started three of nine games, averaging 7.1 points (on 38 percent shooting), 6.8 rebounds, 0.6 blocks, and 0.6 steals in 24 minutes.

Payne could get another start Wednesday if Kevin Garnett (rest) is held out.

Jerry Zgoda of the Minneapolis Star Tribune intimated that Garnett could be rested for the second night in a row, meaning Payne would notch another start after putting up 16 points and 15 rebounds Monday against the Clippers. If Garnett ends up being ruled in, Payne's minutes will likely hover in the mid-20s range.

Payne got the start at power forward Monday in place of a resting Kevin Garnett and scored 16 points (7-12 FG, 2-3 FT) with 15 rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block in 37 minutes during a loss to the Clippers.

It was easily the best game of his young NBA career, as Payne proved to be a tough matchup for Spencer Hawes at both ends of the court. He'll return to a bench role on Wednesday against the Suns, but Payne is showing flashes of becoming a useful complementary player for the rebuilding 'Wolves.

Payne will start in place of Kevin Garnett (rest) on Monday against the Clippers, radio broadcaster Alan Horton reports.

Payne is in line to see extended time on the court Monday. However, fellow frontcourt player Gorgui Dieng will likely take some minutes away from Payne over the course of the game.

Payne scored 12 points with five rebounds in 24 minutes in Monday's loss to the Clippers.

Payne should see more minutes while Nikola Pekovic is out with an ankle injury. And Payne could start some games when Kevin Garnett is rested.

Payne scored four points with five rebounds in 25 minutes in Saturday's loss to Memphis.

Payne could get spurts of significant minutes when Kevin Garnett is rested. He could also see more minutes if Nikola Pekovic's ankle injury is a major setback.

Payne started and scored six points (3-7 FG) while adding five rebounds in 27 minutes against the Bulls Friday.

Since Garnett was only out for rest, he is likely to return for Saturday's game. Payne does not do much for fantasy players, and can probably be ignored in most formats.

Payne scored four points with seven rebounds in 17 minutes while coming off the bench in Wednesday's win over Washington.

Payne was in the starting lineup Monday, but came off the bench with Kevin Garnett moving into the starting lineup in his first game after being acquired in a trade. It looks like Payne will be third on the depth chart at power forward behind Garnett and Gorgui Dieng. However, he still has upside for minutes on some nights as the T-Wolves will want to evaluate him and Garnett may get some extended breaks to keep him healthy.

Payne posted a double-double in 29 minutes Monday against the Rockets as he scored 11 points (4-15 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-4 FT) to go along with 10 rebounds and one block.

Payne drew the start Monday and while his counting stats were solid, he really struggled from the field. Gorgui Deng played 27 minutes Monday and finished with seven points and 14 rebounds. It's unclear if Payne will be the start going forward, but he'll likely need to shoot better if he is going to hold onto the role.

Payne will get the start at power forward Monday, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Payne, who was acquired from the Hawks last week, made his Timberwolves debut Friday against the Suns, scoring one point and grabbing four rebounds in 14 minutes. He'll get the start Monday, as Gorgui Dieng moves to the bench and will likely match up with Houston's Terrence Jones.

Payne will be in uniform Wednesday night.

Payne could see the floor for the first time with his new team, but given the fact that he hasn't had time to acquaint himself with the system, he isn't likely to play a major role right away. The Michigan State product appeared in only three games for the Hawks, spending several stints in the D-League.
