Tue Oct 21 201423:59Baldwin worked out for Giants Tuesday
Baldwin worked out for the Giants Tuesday.
The Giants are thin at wide receiver, so they brought in a few players. Even if Baldwin were to make the team, he's a long shot to make an impact.
Wed Aug 6 201417:50The Lions have waived Baldwin (knee) due to failed physical
The Lions have waived Baldwin (knee) due to a failed physical, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Birkett adds that there's a possibility the Lions could revisit adding Baldwin (claimed on waivers Monday) if/when his knee is more sound, but his stint with the team turned out to be a brief one.
Mon Aug 4 201416:42Baldwin claimed off waivers by Lions on Monday
Baldwin was claimed off waivers by the Lions on Monday, the Detroit Free Press reports.
Baldwin, a former first round selection, has been a big disappointment since entering the league in 2011. After flaming out in just two seasons in Kansas City, Baldwin played only seven games for the 49ers last season, leading San Francisco to waive him on Sunday. Now, with a pressing need outside of All-Pro Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate at wide receiver, the Lions will give the 6-4, 230-pound Baldwin an opportunity to make their roster. In three NFL seasons, Baldwin has just 44 catches for 607 yards and two touchdowns.
Sun Aug 3 201418:27The 49ers have waived Baldwin
The 49ers have waived Baldwin, the team's official site reports.
The move frees up a roster spot for the team's addition of fellow receiver L'Damian Washington, with Baldwin -- drafted by the Chiefs in the first round in 2011 -- now looking for another chance to revive an NFL career that has thus far been disappointing in relation to his lofty draft selection.
Sat Jun 7 201413:59Baldwin has no chance to make roster?
ESPN 49ers reporter Bill Williamson believes WR Jon Baldwin conceivably could be converted to a tight end, but says the former first-round pick has "virtually no chance" to make the roster either way.
The tight end comment is just idle speculation. At 6-foot-4, 230 pounds, Baldwin would be on the small side for tight ends, and he has not played the position since high school. The important takeaway is Baldwin's roster spot is still in grave danger despite the salary cut he took in February. Baldwin looks to be nearing the end of his NFL road.

Fri Jan 31 201411:4649ers WR Baldwin a candidate for release
CSN Bay Area considers 49ers WR Jon Baldwin a candidate for release.
Baldwin is due a non-guaranteed $1.4 million in salary and bonuses for 2014. Part of the reason the 49ers swapped former first-round pick A.J. Jenkins for Baldwin was because of the aforementioned reason; Jenkins had two years left of guaranteed money at the time of the deal. We wouldn't expect the 49ers to give up on Baldwin before training camp, but he's going to have to earn his spot. Baldwin caught just three passes for 28 yards in seven games with San Francisco.

Sun Jan 19 201423:40Jon Baldwin healthy scratch after Week 12
49ers WR Jon Baldwin wasn't active after Week 12 this season.
In all, Baldwin dressed seven times, making three catches for 28 yards. The 2011 first-round bust did nothing to distinguish himself for a club that was thin at receiver all season. Looking like a lost cause, Baldwin will have to show major signs of progress in camp to keep his roster spot.

Baldwin wasn't even targeted as he played behind Kyle Williams outside. He can be dropped in re-draft leagues with Mario Manningham (knee) close to returning.

Fri Oct 18 201317:01Jon Baldwin listed as questionable
Jon Baldwin (illness) is listed as questionable for Week 7 against the Titans.
Baldwin was demoted back into a rotational player in Week 6, coming off the bench behind Kyle Williams to catch one ball for nine yards. Baldwin can be dropped in 14- and 16-team leagues with Mario Manningham coming back soon.

Sun Oct 13 201321:03Baldwin targeted twice in Week 6 victory
Jon Baldwin caught just one pass for nine yards in Week 6 versus Arizona.
Baldwin was targeted just twice on the afternoon. There just aren't enough footballs to go around to feed more than one or two pass catchers in the Niners' offense. We're skeptical Baldwin will ever hold fantasy value in 2013.

Sun Oct 6 201323:52Baldwin doesn't catch a pass in Week 5 win
Jon Baldwin failed to reel in either of his two targets in Week 5 against the Texans.
Baldwin started opposite Anquan Boldin and was the target on two of Colin Kaepernick's 15 attempts. He drew a defensive pass interference on one of those. The 49ers wanted to get Baldwin more involved this week, but there was no reason to even throw the football in the blowout win. Keep watching Baldwin next week.

Fri Oct 4 201313:32Niners 'very encouraged' with WR Jon Baldwin
49ers OC Greg Roman said he was "very encouraged" by Jon Baldwin's performance in Week 4 against the Rams.
Coach Jim Harbaugh has publicly promised "more action" for Baldwin going forward. "I think the opportunities that he was given last week, shoot, I was very encouraged by it," Roman added. "I love to see guys play physical and make plays when opportunities come their way. I'm sure he'll be getting plenty of opportunities this week and he's got to take advantage of them."

Sat Sep 28 201310:01Jon Baldwin to see 'more action' for 49ers
Coach Jim Harbaugh said "there'll be more action" for Jon Baldwin moving forward.
Baldwin made his 49ers debut Thursday night after being inactive for the first three weeks following the trade with the Chiefs. He caught two passes for 19 yards. With Quinton Patton (foot) out indefinitely, Baldwin and Kyle Williams will likely see the bulk of the snaps opposite Anquan Boldin.

Fri Sep 27 201302:08Baldwin makes 49ers season debut
Jon Baldwin had two catches for 19 yards in Thursday night's Week 4 win over the Rams.
It was the first game Baldwin has been active for this season. He played ahead of Kyle Williams in some two-wide sets and was able to secure both of his targets in the passing game. With Quinton Patton (foot) sidelined, he could overtake Williams for the No. 2 receiver job.

Mon Sep 23 201315:1549ers may activate Jon Baldwin
At his Monday press conference, coach Jim Harbaugh was open to the idea of activating Jon Baldwin on game day.
"That's possible," said Harbs. "He's doing a good job." Baldwin has been a healthy scratch in each of the first three games. In the meantime, 49ers wideouts have struggled mightily to get open, and Vernon Davis is battling a bad hamstring. Look for Baldwin to get some snaps Thursday night in St. Louis.

Sun Sep 8 201315:08Jon Baldwin among 49ers inactives
49ers WR Jon Baldwin is a healthy scratch for Sunday's Week 1 game against the Packers.
Baldwin, who has been with the Niners for just three weeks, remains behind the likes of Kyle Williams, Marlon Moore and Quinton Patton. There are no surprises in San Fran's inactives: RB LaMichael James, WR Chris Harper, DT Will Tukuafu, QB BJ Daniels, G Joe Looney and ILB Nathan Stupar.

Sun Sep 1 201316:55Jon Baldwin may be healthy weekly scratch
49ers WR Jon Baldwin is not expected to be active on game days to begin the season.
Baldwin is no higher than fourth on the receiver depth chart, and lacks the special teams value of Kyle Williams. Baldwin could eventually push Marlon Moore out of the starting lineup at X receiver, but is still in the process of learning Jim Harbaugh's offense. He's not roster-worthy in 12-team leagues.
