Wright was signed by the Ravens on Tuesday.

Despite signing a one-year, $3 million contract in the offseason, Wright couldn't get on the field for a corner-needy San Francisco team, eventually leading to his release. He'll now join one of the few teams that is in worse shape at his position, which means he could actually take on a decent role. Wright is still far removed from the IDP picture.

Wright was released by the 49ers on Saturday.

Wright, the 28-year-old defensive back, didn't play a down all season and with the 49ers looking for additional help on the offensive line, was released to make room for guard Andrew Tiller. Wright will try to catch on with another team struggling for depth in the secondary.

The 49ers have signed Wright, the Sacramento Bee reports.

Wright (along with Chris Cook) will bolster the 49ers' cornerback situation, with Perrish Cox and Chris Culliver having left the team via free agency. Wright recorded a career-high 60 tackles this past season with the Chargers.

Wright, who returns after a two-game absence, could reclaim some IDP utility once he re-establishes his role in the Chargers' defense. In four games to date, he has 23 tackles to his credit.

If the season began today, Wright and Cox would be the first-team outside cornerbacks with Johnny Patrick entering in sub-packages. Eric Weddle and Marcus Gilchrist would be the starting safeties.
