Draughn (back) is inactive Sunday against the Ravens.

Draughn didn't log any practice time this week due to a back ailment, so it's not too surprising to see him sit this one out. He'll join Robert Turbin (ankle) on the inactive list, leaving Isaiah Crowell and rookie Duke Johnson to lead the charge in the Cleveland backfield. Even when healthy, look for Draughn to be used in a limited basis in the Browns' offensive game plan.

Draughn has largely been passed over in the Browns' running back rotation as Isaiah Crowell and Duke Johnson have received the majority of the opportunities in recent weeks. With Robert Turbin (ankle) likely coming back in a week or two, Draughn's role in the offense, and his dwindling fantasy value, may have to hinge on multiple injuries to players above him on the depth chart.

Draughn finished Sunday's loss to the Jets with one carry for four yards. He did not catch his only target in the passing game.

Draughn was largely an afterthought in a Cleveland rushing attack that primarily featured Isaiah Crowell (12 carries) and rookie Duke Johnson (7 carries). He risks moving further down the depth chart when Robert Turbin (ankle) and Glenn Winston (knee) return, but with that scheduled to be roughly a month down the road, Draughn may still have a few active weeks left in him. The fantasy impact is expected to be minimal, however.

Draughn was promoted to the active roster Saturday, Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports reports.

Draughn will serve as the Browns' third running back on the depth chart behind Isaiah Crowell and Duke Johnson, who is probable Sunday as he recovers from a concussion.

Draughn will likely be promoted from the Browns' practice squad Saturday, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

The Browns currently have only two healthy running backs on the roster -- and Duke Johnson is returning from a concussion -- so Draughn will likely be added to provide some depth at the position. If Draughn is indeed added to the active roster, he could see some work behind starter Isaiah Crowell with Johnson's touches potentially being limited.

Browns head coach Mike Pettine said Draughn has an injured thumb, but doesn't believe it is broken, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Draughn will have the thumb casted for a few days and then further updates on the running back's status should be provided. Draughn is currently fighting in training camp for a spot on Cleveland's roster, but given the depth the team currently has in the backfield, it is unlikely he plays a large role this season.

The Browns re-signed Draughn to a one-year contract Friday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

The 27-year-old Draughn is completely lacking in upside as a runner, and he'll need to compete for a roster spot in training camp. The current favorites to lead Cleveland's backfield are 2014 rookies Isaiah Crowell and Terrance West.

Draughn is active for Sunday's matchup with the Colts.

Draughn just signed with the team Wednesday, but has apparently shown enough in practice to warrant an active status in favor of Glenn Winston. With Isaiah Crowell listed as the Browns' starter, and Terrance West poised to serve as his backup (per Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland), Draughn will presumably be third in line. Although third-string running backs have received carries for the Browns this year, Draughn is likely not a high-percentage fantasy play.

Draughn was cut by the Chargers on Saturday.

With Ronnie Brown outpacing Draughn in usage the last couple of weeks, the Chargers deemed Draughn expendable, opting instead to add some depth at safety. Draughn carried the ball 10 times for 19 yards in his four games with San Diego.

Draughn did not get a single touch in Thursday night's game at Denver.

It was the second week in a row that Draughn failed to scratch the box score with Ronnie Brown handling a handful of carries in relief of Branden Oliver in both games. With Ryan Mathews and Donald Brown both expected to return from injuries in the coming weeks, it would appear that Draughn is a long way from having any meaningful role on this team.

Draughn did not get a single touch in Sunday's game at Oakland.

The Bolts went with Branden Oliver for all of the heavy lifting and then gave a few touches to Ronnie Brown in relief. It would seem that Draughn is a long way from having any significant playing time at this point, especially with San Diego's other front line backs expected to get healthy in the coming weeks.

Draughn is attempting to quickly learn the San Diego playbook so that he can be ready to contribute on Sunday against the Jaguars, but he is not expected to make much of an impact yet, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

The Bolts have said that they expect Donald Brown and Branden Oliver to handle most of the work this week, but Draughn is trying to get ready anyway. The best laid plans tend to change in the blink of an eye on Sundays in the NFL, so you never know when Draughn might be forced into action, but for now, it looks like he is just the emergency plan.

Draughn signed a one-year contract with the Chargers on Tuesday, Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

The Chargers are starved for depth at running back after Ryan Mathews and Danny Woodhead succumbed to long-term injuries in each of the last two weeks, so the addition of Draughn will give the Chargers a needed body behind starter Donald Brown. Draughn, who saw limited usage in two games with the Bears before he was released last week, will likely be worked into the Chargers' game plan slowly as he familiarizes himself with the playbook. It may not be long, however, before he surpasses Brandon Oliver for the top backup spot behind Brown.

Draughn was released by the Bears on Tuesday.

Draughn did not see any work in the Bears' first two games, and his release indicates the team is confident that Ka'Deem Carey can handle the backup duties behind Matt Forte.

Draughn hasn't had a carry in either of the Bears' first two regular season contests.

Though it wasn't quite clear to begin the season, it would seem Draughn is viewed as the team's No. 3 back, with Ka'Deem Carey slotting in as the top backup behind Matt Forte. Because Forte rarely comes off the field as an every-down back, however, snaps for both Carey and Draughn will remain minimal barring an injury.

We'll monitor the Bears' backup RB workload in Sunday's game against the Bills, but for now Ka'Deem Carey is listed as Matt Forte's top backup and thus appears to be the player to target by those looking to secure Forte insurance.

Draughn had 29 yards on 10 carries and 14 yards on three receptions in Thursday's preseason finale against the Browns.

More important than Draughn's own lack of production is the fact that rookie Ka'Deem Carey didn't play at all. While nothing has been announced, all signs point to Carey opening the season as Matt Forte's top backup. Draughn may now be in danger of losing his roster spot.

After serving as Matt Forte's top backup in the first two exhibition games, Draughn worked behind fourth-round rookie Ka'Deem Carey, who gained 15 yards on four carries. We can't yet assume that Carey will be second on the depth chart by Week 1, but Draughn's value took a hit Friday night. The Bears can't be feeling too good about their running back depth, and figure to heavily lean on Forte.

Working as the No. 2 running back for a second consecutive game, Draughn gained 33 yards on three carries and 12 yards on two receptions in Thursday's preseason game against the Jaguars.

Once again, Draughn served as the clear No. 2, with rookie fourth-round draft pick Ka'Deem Carey third into the game, followed by Senorise Perry. While he seems to have the upper hand thus far, Draughn is already 26 years old, and has yet to make an impact in the league. He doesn't match Carey in terms of upside, but may still open the season as Matt Forte's top backup.

Ka'Deem Carey, a fourth-round draft pick, worked as the No. 3, followed by Senorise Perry, Michael Ford, and then finally Jordan Lynch. Draughn recorded one carry for two yards and one reception for 10 yards, while Carey by far handled the biggest workload, carrying 10 times for just 23 yards. Typically, it isn't a good sign if a player sees a ton of playing time in the first preseason game, but given that Carey was used as the No. 3 back, the Bears probably just wanted to get the rookie some work. Despite what the initial depth chart says, Carey looks like the best handcuff for Matt Forte. Even if the Bears decide they don't trust Carey in the backup role, it's hard to imagine a team with such high aspirations for its offense would allow Draughn to occupy a fairly important position.
