Mon Oct 12 201513:56Grimes (hamstring) returned to practice Monday
Grimes (hamstring) returned to practice Monday, ESPN.com reports.
Grimes was inactive for Thursday night's game against the Colts, but apparently used the weekend to improve his knee injury. With Alfred Blue (toe) banged-up, Grimes could gain extra practice reps this week in advance of Sunday's game against the Jaguars.
Wed Oct 7 201516:15Grimes (knee) ruled out for Thursday's game against Colts
Grimes (knee) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Colts, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Meanwhile, fellow running back Chris Polk is listed as questionable for the contest, with leaves the Texans' top two backs, Arian Foster and Alfred Blue as the healthiest components of the team's Week 5 backfield.
Mon Oct 5 201519:26Though Texans didn't conduct formal practice Monday
Though the Texans didn't conduct a formal practice Monday, if they had, Grimes (knee) would have been a non-participant, the Houston Chronicle reports.
After sitting out Sunday's game against the Falcons, Grimes is iffy for Thursday's contest against the Colts, though with Arian Foster back in action now, Grimes' fantasy utility is currently limited.

Grimes (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's contest against the Falcons.
With Grimes out, Alfred Blue and Chris Polk are currently the Texans' healthiest backs, though Arian Foster continues to progress to the point that he is considered a game-time decision for Sunday's game.

Wed Sep 30 201518:23Grimes (knee) did not practice Wednesday
Grimes (knee) did not practice Wednesday, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Grimes was dealing with a minor knee issue during practice last week, so his absence Wednesday may simply be maintenance-related rather than indicative of a setback. More on his status after Thursday's practice.

Grimes (knee) rushed six times for 19 yards and caught all four of his targets for 19 yards in Sunday's win over Tampa Bay.

Sun Sep 27 201511:49Grimes (knee) active for Sunday's contest against Buccaneers
Grimes (knee) is active for Sunday's contest against the Buccaneers, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
A true game-time call, Grimes built up his reps steadily throughout the week, culminating in a limited practice Friday, but no member of the Texans' backfield has exerted himself with Arian Foster (groin) out of commission. If he garners enough reps, though, Grimes could make a mark against the Buccaneers, who have allowed the seventh-most rushing yards to running backs this season.
Fri Sep 25 201515:30Grimes (knee) game-time decision for Sunday's game against Bucs
Grimes (knee) is a game-time decision for Sunday's game against the Bucs.
Grimes returned to practice on Friday after missing Wednesday and Thursday's session with a knee issue, but his Sunday status remains cloudy for now. If Grimes does suit up this weekend, he'd provide the Texans -- who are still without Arian Foster -- with valuable backfield depth, but look for the team's Week 3 running attack to be headed by Chris Polk and Alfred Blue, in any case.
Fri Sep 25 201513:26Grimes (knee) returned to practice Friday
Grimes (knee) returned to practice Friday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
We'll have to see how the Texans list Grimes for Sunday's game against the Bucs, but Friday's practice participation suggests that he has a decent chance to remain in the Texans' Week 3 backfield mix.

Grimes (knee) will be an "end-of-the-week, game-time decision," according to Houston head coach Bill O'Brien.
Grimes has yet to practice this week leading up to Houston's Week 3 encounter Tampa Bay. If he's unable to go, both Alfred Blue and Chris Polk will get more snaps this coming Sunday.
Thu Sep 24 201513:56Grimes (knee) will not practice Thursday
Grimes (knee) will not practice Thursday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
A "relatively minor knee issue" will now keep Grimes out of practice for a second consecutive day. With Arian Foster still working his way back from a groin injury and iffy to play Sunday, Alfred Blue and Chris Polk could be leaned on more if Grimes is unable to go.

Grimes is dealing with "a relatively minor knee injury," according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.
Just the same, with Arian Foster iffy, at best, for this week's action and Grimes ailing, the Texans added fellow running back Daryl Richardson to their practice squad.

Grimes had two carries for seven yards and caught six of seven targets for 40 yards in Houston's loss to Carolina on Sunday.
It was another Sunday in which starter Alfred Blue had a lesser role than Grimes, as Texans quarterback Ryan Mallett threw the ball 58 times in the loss.

Grimes led all Houston backs with 41 snaps in Sunday's loss to the Chiefs. Starter Alfred Blue played 22 and Chris Polk played 14.
We're not going to read too much into Week 1's snap count other than coach Bill O'Brien deployed more passing-personnel groupings after the Texans fell behind early. In a normal week, Blue will get the greatest share of the snaps.

Grimes rushed six times for 28 yards and caught one pass for two yards in Sunday's Week 1 loss to Kansas City.
The Texans fell behind early and had to abandon the running game, but the group of Grimes, Alfred Blue and Chris Polk averaged 4.6 yards per carry. Here in Week 1, there was a bit of a rotation going on, but it was a game where an early big deficit took Houston out of its preferred game plan. It would be prudent to watch another week or two to determine how coach Bill O'Brien divides up the snaps among his backs.

Grimes was the second running back used in Saturday night's preseason game against the Broncos. He rushed five times for 23 yards and saw all of his action in the first half.
So far, in the absence of Arian Foster (groin), it looks like the running-back depth chart begins with Grimes following starter Alfred Blue. If any other back is set to challenge Grimes, it will be Chris Polk, who led the Texans with 36 yards rushing and 34 receiving in mostly second-half work.

Grimes rushed for four yards on five carries and caught one pass for 10 yards in Saturday's preseason opener against the 49ers.
Grimes' snaps came during the first half, so it would appear he's just below Alfred Blue on the depth chart, but Chris Polk had a nice game and could upset the depth chart before the preseason is over.

Grimes is listed as the second-string running back on Houston's unofficial depth chart released Tuesday, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Alfred Blue is listed atop the depth chart at running back while Arian Foster (groin) is unavailable for several weeks. Chris Polk and Kenny Hilliard are listed after Grimes.
