Adams (back surgery) will miss four weeks and begin training camp on the PUP list, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette writer Ed Bouchette reports.
The surgery means Adams will miss the entirety of Pittsburgh's training camp, which raises the concern of early-season rustiness once Adams returns. Luckily for Pittsburgh, he's only the team's third tackle behind Kelvin Beachum and Marcus Gilbert.
Sun Jul 20 201410:53Left tackle still up for grabs in Pittsburgh?
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette indicates Kelvin Beachum will have to hold off Mike Adams for the Steelers' starting left tackle job.
Beachum started 11 of the final 12 games of the season on Ben Roethlisberger's blind side after Adams was destroyed in pass protection the first four games, surrendering four sacks and 13 hurries. Adams has the draft pedigree as a former second-rounder, but Beachum is a technician and has consistently proved he can play. New OL coach Mike Munchak will try to turn Adams' career around.

Steelers 2012 second-round pick Mike Adams is expected to open the season as Pittsburgh's swing tackle.

Wed Apr 30 201417:56Three men acquitted of stabbing Mike Adams
The jury found the three men accused of stabbing Steelers OT Mike Adams last year not guilty on Wednesday.
Adams was assaulted and stabbed in an alleged carjacking last June. He avoided major internal injuries. The defense claimed Adams started a fight that Saturday morning. With Adams having a blood-alcohol level of more than twice the legal limit, it was hard for the jury to believe his story. The former second-round pick hopes to jumpstart his career under new OL coach Mike Munchak.

Thu Feb 13 201409:28Mike Adams to be Munchak's 'pet project'
Steelers OT Mike Adams is expected to be one of new OL coach Mike Munchak's "pet projects."
Adams, the 56th pick in the 2012 draft, started the first four games of last season at left tackle but gave up four sacks and a whopping 19 pressures. He was benched in favor of Kelvin Beachum and relegated to backup duties for much of the remainder of the season. Munchak is one of the most well-repsected line coaches in the league. Adams could be in the mix to start at right tackle.

Wed Aug 7 201321:42Mike Adams to start at left tackle
Mike Adams is expected to be the Steelers' Opening Day starter at left tackle.
Coaches were disappointed with Marcus Gilbert's early-camp showing on Ben Roethlisberger's blindside, and have flipped the tackles. Adams is a bit of a question mark because he was beaten repeatedly in pass pro early last year before finishing strong, particularly as a run blocker. The Steelers want to become more of a run-minded team on the strength of Le'Veon Bell's legs.

Tue Nov 27 201211:20Mike Adams is going to be out awhile
Per CBS' Jason La Canfora, Steelers RT Mike Adams (ankle) is expected to be out a "significant period of time."
Adams has been diagnosed with a high ankle sprain. It's another blow to an offensive line that was already playing without normal starting RT Marcus Gilbert (ankle). Seventh-round rookie Kelvin Beachem is a candidate to step in, but newly activated first-round guard David DeCastro should give Mike Tomlin some flexibility.

Sun Nov 25 201218:58Mike Adams headed for Monday MRI
Steelers RT Mike Adams will have a Monday MRI after injuring his ankle against the Browns Sunday.
Per CBS' Jason La Canfora, it "does not appear" that Adams broke his ankle. Therefore, the MRI will determine the severity of his sprain. It's worth noting that Adams was in a ton of pain and had to be carted to the locker room after going down. The Steelers are already without normal RT Marcus Gilbert (ankle), so seventh-round rookie Kelvin Beachem was forced into action Sunday.

Sun Nov 25 201215:20Mike Adams carted off Week 12
Steelers RT Mike Adams left Sunday's Week 12 game against the Browns with an ankle injury.
Adams had to be helped off the field in the third quarter and was then carted to the locker room. It's a major concern for an offensive line that lost starting LG Willie Colon (knee) in pregame. Seventh-round rookie Kelvin Beachum has come on at right tackle.

Steelers rookie OT Mike Adams (knee) returned to practice on Thursday.

Sat Aug 11 201218:38Report: Mike Adams (knee) has mild MCL sprain
Steelers rookie LT Mike Adams (knee) has a mild MCL sprain, and won't require surgery.
Adams hasn't practiced since leaving Thursday's preseason game, and remains without a timetable. An MRI revealed no structural damage, but a prolonged absence would be a major setback for a player already having an inconsistent training camp. Marcus Gilbert and Trai Essex will be given an extended look at left tackle.

Fri Aug 10 201214:36Mike Adams' injury not severe
Post-game testing showed that Steelers rookie LT Mike Adams' right knee injury is not severe.
He may miss a day or two of practice, but should be back on the field this week. Adams struggled mightily in his first NFL audition, serving up 2 1/2 sacks before leaving hurt. He'll need to protect better to hold off Max Starks.
